Gingeletiss Posted 6 August, 2022 Posted 6 August, 2022 A sneaky win, if RH is brave in his selection, play the youngsters, they can’t do worse than what has gone before. 2-1 Saints. 2
Viking Saint Posted 6 August, 2022 Posted 6 August, 2022 Would bite your hand off for a point today. Watched the highlights and goals from the 3-2 away win last season this morning and reminded of what a horrible little shit Cunte is with his 'shhhh' gesture after Broja was wiped out ahead of their second goal. 1
Midfield_General Posted 6 August, 2022 Posted 6 August, 2022 Yeah, completely classless. It was sweet wiping the smile off his face. 1
LaptopSaint Posted 6 August, 2022 Posted 6 August, 2022 Best day out last season, no question. Won’t be there today so fingers and toes crossed COYR
Wade Garrett Posted 6 August, 2022 Posted 6 August, 2022 I can’t see anything but a comfortable win for Spurs. Shame it’s not an U23’s game. 3-0 1
allsa001 Posted 6 August, 2022 Posted 6 August, 2022 If there is a last minute ticket going spare, I would love to buy.
david in sweden Posted 6 August, 2022 Posted 6 August, 2022 (edited) If it's possible to get any perspective on this game..we should remember that Spurs have spent more on ONE PLAYER ( Richarlison ) than we have on the half-dozen recruits we brought in during the summer. (Glad he's suspended.) On paper we have almost zero chance of a win but remembering last season anything is possible and a goal from KWP and a red card for Hojbjerg would be a good present for my son's birthday. That would upset Daniel Levy. Edited 6 August, 2022 by david in sweden
East Kent Saint Posted 6 August, 2022 Posted 6 August, 2022 Lets see how it goes today and for a few more matches before we decide how the season will turn out ! Meanwhile Fulham 1-0 up 😄

Lighthouse Posted 6 August, 2022 Posted 6 August, 2022 Interesting team. Clearly Ralph feels three young debutants in one team is the limit for a trip to Spurs, which is fair enough. Really hoping Armstrong can catch a break this season and step up. 3
hypochondriac Posted 6 August, 2022 Posted 6 August, 2022 Really unusual formation and lineup which I don't think anyone would have predicted. I'm concerned that bednarek is still a starter and that valery is the best we have at rb. Also a bit weird to have djenepo as a starter considering how ineffective he's been historically. No Adams? Makes me worried that we may be selling him.
FarehamSaintJames Posted 6 August, 2022 Posted 6 August, 2022 Sorry but Valery is largely poor and he’s had a couple of mediocre performances against weakened opposition. Bednarek wanted out and bottled playing a cup tie, he shouldn’t be near that team. Djenepo has been piss poor for two years! Again a couple of semi-decent friendly performances doesn’t cut it for a Premier League match. Honestly baffled Adams and Stu Armstrong can’t get in that team. Even Redmond I’d have in there probably. 1

Saints foreva Posted 6 August, 2022 Posted 6 August, 2022 Looks a very poor team on paper imo. Valery and Djenepo wouldn't make any other PL side.
Smirking_Saint Posted 6 August, 2022 Posted 6 August, 2022 (edited) That looks a 352 to me with Aribo alongside Armstrong… not sure what Adams has done to be benched, but Im assuming Ralph is looking to play a more solid system and try to win on the break Im not holding HUGE hope today but hopefully we can steal a draw… I just want us to be as committed as we were at the start of the season and not as lost as we were towards the end MOST importantly I want us, if we go 1-0 to hold our heads and not capitulate ————-Bazunu————- — Valery —Bednarek—-Salisu KWP—————————-Djenepo ——Romeu - Lavia- —JWP—— ————Aribo—————— —————-Armstrong———— Edited 6 August, 2022 by Smirking_Saint 3
washsaint Posted 6 August, 2022 Posted 6 August, 2022 I expect Valery to play at CB with KWP and Djenepo as wing backs. Extremely negative formation - not sure what, if any, service Adam Armstrong will get 1
Convict Colony Posted 6 August, 2022 Posted 6 August, 2022 if that team gets us a draw i'll take it 2
davefizzy14 Posted 6 August, 2022 Posted 6 August, 2022 (edited) We are set up to be solid and hit them on the break fingers crossed it works. Edited 6 August, 2022 by davefizzy14 3

Disco Stu Posted 6 August, 2022 Posted 6 August, 2022 Adam Armstrong will be totally isolated unless Aribo is a second striker.
FarehamSaintJames Posted 6 August, 2022 Posted 6 August, 2022 Adam Armstrong may as well not bother playing
Baird of the land Posted 6 August, 2022 Posted 6 August, 2022 (edited) That’s a depressing lineup. The useless bednarek in the team and I struggle to see how we’ll hold the ball up. Also is lyanco injured or just behind Stephens in the pecking order? Edited 6 August, 2022 by Baird of the land

Toussaint Posted 6 August, 2022 Posted 6 August, 2022 Strong bench, maybe he’s taking the temperature into account? Hopefully it won’t be too far gone if and when they are deployed

Convict Colony Posted 6 August, 2022 Posted 6 August, 2022 (edited) To be honest I'm ok with Valery and Bednerak playing - I dont want Whopper getting destroyed by kane and son on his debut especially since Bochum usually played in a 4. Edited 6 August, 2022 by Convict Colony 2

northam soul Posted 6 August, 2022 Posted 6 August, 2022 So we are playing 3 players who normally play in the 2 central midfield positions which we have not tried in pre season. No Stu is madness to me and I don’t care if they are impressed with Valery lately. Che must be on the cards to be sold as he really can’t get a look in.
OttawaSaint Posted 6 August, 2022 Posted 6 August, 2022 (edited) What's going on with Adams? RH sat him at the start of last season too. In the expected formation surely Adams a better fit to hold up the ball than the slight frame of AA? Hmm. Head scratcher. Edited 6 August, 2022 by OttawaSaint 1
LuckyNumber7 Posted 6 August, 2022 Posted 6 August, 2022 What a horribly negative lineup. Despite all the signings, we look weaker than last season imo. 1

Jonnyboy Posted 6 August, 2022 Posted 6 August, 2022 As ever, we need Romeu to be back to his best to stand a chance.

Lyanco had his green kit confiscated by the club so not able to play. Didn't he go off injured in one of the home friendlies (though I thought they said it was cramp).

Looks like 5-4-1 with a striker who is completely unsuited to holding theball up. It’s depressing seeing the utterly garbage bednarek waltz into the team again despite us having 6 cb’s to choose from. 1
Saint_clark Posted 6 August, 2022 Posted 6 August, 2022 The playbook has been abandoned it seems. Defend, defend, defend. 3 CBs, 3 DMs, 1 attacking midfield and 1 striker.

With Fulham nabbing a point vs a poor Liverpool let's hope we don't get smashed by Spurs. Edited 6 August, 2022 by OttawaSaint 1
S-Clarke Posted 6 August, 2022 Posted 6 August, 2022 (edited) Why are people saying this is a horribly negative line-up? ''bizarre formation''? If you're basing it from the BBC Sport formation pic then just ignore that. We played all pre-season this way, all the media chat has been about 5-3-2. The talk is to make us more solid. Why has this come as a surprise to anyone? Do some of you want us to open up and go for the throat of Spurs and get absolutely destroyed on the break? And on the attack this isn't a particularly negative line-up, as the WB's will push up very high to provide the width. I Imagine Aribo will play very close to Armstrong to provide the support and physicality he needs. Edited 6 August, 2022 by S-Clarke 7

AlexLaw76 Posted 6 August, 2022 Posted 6 August, 2022 How long until this formation is ditched? Not sure it will even last the 90 mins
