You need to re think the left wing - isn’t Falque one of theirs on loan to us?

Even with Richarlison being suspended their forward line looks formidable, always expect Kane and Son to do well against us.

Spurs 4- 1 Saints, with us being 2 down quite early on.

Big humping to start the season I feel.

This thread is as depressed as Antonio Conte was the last time Saints played away at Spurs!

Can't say I blame anyone, given the notoriety of Spurs' forwards for giving our back line a hard time. Also haven't seen much in pre-season to suggest we've matured in defence or eradicated the daft errors.

I don't think it'll be doom and gloom all season. We've a few promising players which I think will come good. But it's a bloody difficult start.

A life tip. Never explain a joke. And definitely never twice. When nobody laughs, just move on.

Positives

Kane usually has a slow start to the season.

No Richarlison who usually scores against us.

First games of the season are often cagey affairs which could work in our favour. If we're still in it by the hour mark then the crowd will get restless as they'll be expecting a win.

Negatives

We're likely starting with 5 at the back and it will be a 5 with us getting bodies behind the ball and looking to counter. Will have to endure alot of pressure and need to ride our luck.

Just dont see many goals in us atm. Therefore if we want to get a result we're going to have to shut Spurs out or concede one at most.

Our first game record is absolute garbage.

Got a feeling about us nicking a 1-1 draw, but head is also saying 3-0 Spurs

So what's a 'bog standard' result then, 6-0? People often say things like this but then never seem to throw out the bunting when we miraculously salvage a 2-1 defeat.

Really don’t understand what you’re saying here…I didn’t write anything about ‘bog standard’ or 6-0.  It’s just my prediction for this game and I’ve provided clear rationale why I think that. How can I ‘throw out the bunting’ when the games not even been played yet? 🤣

Fairly straight forward; you said we’d need a bit of luck to lose 3-0, so what happens if we don’t get it and luck is generally neutral in this game? What score would you expect  then?

Also I’m quite obviously talking about after the game.

He'll go for experience and low risk looking for a 0-0 draw.

                                 McCarthy

                    Lyanco Bednarek Salisu

       KWP                                                 Perraud

                          JWP         Romeu

           Armstrong(S)                           Aribo

Well obviously if we’re not so lucky, I’m expecting the result to be worse than 3-0.  Don’t think it’s necessary to get any more accurate if it turns out that bad! Who knows, Ralph may get his game plan spot on and the players perform out of their collective skins and we breeze a win - would be desirable but unlikely on the balance of the limited evidence we’ve seen over the last 20 games.

I think your spot on with the team, it would be risky throwing in the less experienced new players into a game like that. I expect they will be drip fed in as required.

I would not like to call the result, I got some heart after the Monaco 2nd half, I haven't seen anything of Saturdays game.

Yes think that’s a good guess at the starting line up - Aribo presents minimal risk / high gain. I do think there’s a chance Bazunu will start (and hope so). The only other possibility is that he thinks Djenepo is a better bet than Perraud - I wouldn’t put it past Ralph.

I'm inclined to agree although I'd like to see Bazunu in goal. Lavia in place of Romeu and Che upfront with AA coming on as a sub.

I see taking the knee every week has been binned!

In the women's game yesterday I noticed the camera turned away from the knee taking to focus on some aircraft flying over head.

Was like "And here we take the knee to focus on the important issue of racis....ooooh look at that plane!"

Spurs win, but fingers crossed some signs that Ralph has more of a clue than he did towards the end of last season and the new saints can offer us something different, because if they don't it's a long season ahead.

Very torn between 3-1/4-1 to Spurs. Probably a Son or Kane hat-trick too.

Absolute domination, an eye opener, and a huge plummet back down to earth for everyone after signing all these future wonderkids and realising “they’re probably not good enough yet”.

Other than possibly Bazunu, doubt that any other wonderkids will play (or at least start). Aribo is not a kid, he might play.
