Few first teamers

9 of the Pompey starting XI are from their first team squad and they have their first team manager in charge.  It's men against boys. No wonder Ralph is swerving it. Couldn't we at least have put out a competitive side?

We should have evened it up a bit and given a run out to a few more experienced players , could be painful tonight

If he’s not going to play the likes of AMN then get him some match fitness, AA some confidence in front of goal. Perraud came back too quickly and could’ve gained more minutes, tough little player as well. McCarthy as well.

Very strong Pompey team and it’s being led by Danny Cowley.

Should be fun, I’m already being given shit from Saints fans, can’t exactly shout I’m one of you!

If it's a typical saintsy display following the current road map, you're unlikely to give yourself away jumping up when we score....

I can only assume you are not a local fan and don't get the rivalry. I still remember the joy of beating Pompey 7-0 in the FA Youth Cup. It mattered more than a first team  match against many other teams. Every game against them matters to fans here and they all get talked about for years afterwards, even friendlies.

:D I live about 20 minutes from the ground but thanks for the assumption.

I just find it funny people are complaining about the team selection. Not just because it's pretty meaningless (in my not so local, despite actually being local, opinion) but also because it seems like we're playing some of our most talented kids who some want in the first team.

But anyway, clearly nights like these big nights bring out all sorts of emotions so it's hard to think straight.

Yep agree, fantastic PR for them to beat us , their fans will love it.

We've got so many first team squad players that have hardly had any competitive minutes let them have a run out.

So cynical but they've proved me right, couldn't resist the chance to give us a heavy beating, they know what it means to the clubs fans

The sad thing is that currently even some of our 1st teamers would struggle at this level - Che Adams to name just one.

I’m glad we didn’t play them, confidence and organisation is at floor level already, this could have really been problematic.

When we were in League One a good number on this board said that we shouldn’t waste our time with the paint pot cup.

Now we’re in the Premier League it seems there are some who think we should be ramping up for the Hampshire Senior Cup. A cup whose current champions are Farnborough FC.

🤣

Why? It's a chance to win win a trophy.

It’s the Hants senior cup ffs. I got to the semi final with Netley Central! And trust me that’s not me giving it the big one. It’s laughable they’ve got first teamers playing

Let's be honest, if it was us, you'd be pissed if we hadn't put a strong team out. Why shouldn't they try and win it?

Being completely honest I would find it more embarrassing if we put first team players into a game like this.

I don't think anyone has said that?

I've absolutely said I'd play a stronger side tonight as it's against our biggest rivals and we've sent our little'uns with no backup to Fratton Park to play a strong league one side, should have given them a chance with some older players mixed in.

Sorry, you don’t think anyone has said what?
