Hey guys it does look like the umpires may of made a mistake regarding field placement but that’s the excitement of it.

Remember Stokes dive for 6 runs when it should of been 5, remember Hurst’s shot never crossed the line, Stokes goal was offside etc…..

Thats sport and that’s why we love it!

Nice one Hawks now let’s win that championship.

Although Bobby Stokes goal in 76 was actually well onside.  He was played on by Martin Buchan the United left back who hadnt stepped up with the two centre backs.  It's just that the footage doesnt show Buchan when the ball is played forward, he comes into shot a fraction of a second later,

As for Hurst's second goal in 66.  I have seen a couple of youtube vids that analyse all the available footage to try to work out whether it crossed the line or not using modern technology.  Turns out that it was incredibly close, couple of centimetres either way.

Dont really care about last nights debate.  We won.  Thats all that matters.

Yes its fine when umpire or referee make mistakes in our favour (not often) but its not good for the game. In the current dispute about last night, I wonder if anyone on the ground was aware of the 'law' about field placings after a no ball. I follow cricket quite closely and used to know the 'laws' and often umpired but with the introduction of so many formats of the game by day and by night, does anybody know all the 'small print'?

Did the on field umpire originally give it 'not out'? I'm pretty sure he did in which case the TV umpire didn't overturn the decision as there was no 'clear and obvious' error (how VAR should work but doesn't!!).

The review of the ultra edge suggested there was contact between bat and ball - it was both clear and obvious yet the not out was up held?

Was brilliant watching yesterday, got a chance of winning the County championship as well, should get the players to parade the trophies around St Mary's. Was always a good connection between the clubs when neighbours at The Dell / Northlands Road

Yes and Arthur Holt had captained Saints before the war and was Hampshire's coach after the war and Henry Horton played for both--and Don Roper too.

Good old Henry Horton. He had a stance that looked as if he had been sitting on a chair and then someone had pulled the chair away.

Bloody ridiculous from Lancashire to call foul ! It must be something in the water in the North West that makes them feel like they are always wronged!!

The batsmen failed to hit the ball twice, bowled the first time, missed the second. Wouldn’t have mattered if the fielders had all been on the boundary drinking tea !

What did they want? Best of 5 goes?

There were some dodgy decisions throughout that final, as a former PM said recently “thems the breaks”

If a ball isn’t dead when the WK has it safely in hand and runs the length of the wicket to knock over both stumps, then it never will be. Imagine that happening on the first ball of a test match and the openers just keep running for 5 days straight. Match drawn on 8,463-0 off 0.1 overs.

Not sure why they are complaining about that - the fact they tried to run another to win when the game was clearly over was a bit ridiculous, would you really want to win like that ?. That said they do have a right to moan about the change in field setting, but that’s down to the umpires - they obviously didn’t tell Hampshire to set the same field, plus they snuck a man outside the circle earlier on. I think overall they are just gutted they threw away such a strong winning position so are trying to self justify it…

Apparently the on field umpires are the final judges of when the ball is dead and therefore when the match is over . I assume when it was safely in the wicketkeepers gloves and he broke the stumps that was it . The fact that both sets of stumps were broken and a stump taken out plus being touched by the ball removed all doubt 😄
