While it would be great to make demands and be in control, as a relegated club with a very talented player attracting Premier League interest, I'm not sure that what happens next will be fully our decision.

We just need to hold out for as much as possible.

I hope we hold put for 40m plus for Lavia. We don't need to sell and this "saints are the championship" so the value goes down is bullshit. If he's good enough pay the value.

Realistically we do need to sell. I just hope we can hold out to maximise value.

We clearly do need to sell.

Explain? Or do you mean in general? I meant we don't need to sell him specifically.

Dragan is not going to sell his best player on the cheap. They know the value of him and will sell IF someone meets OUR value. He has stated we are not in finacial trouble and will push for immediate return to PL. So we are not a finacially weak club, so forget about the low ball offers on his best assets!

He's our biggest asset. Selling him probably means we can keep hold of more.

considering he is the player we will get the most for, I would say Selling him is a requirement

says a lot about us that the current player worth most is barely 20 and had one injury hit season here.

if you think that is as good as it gets for Lavia, then you are on another planet

What if there was  a clause that said he couldnt be sold until after season 2

Nice try!

If we had had a clause in Adams' contract that he couldn't leave until he'd scored 30 goal for us, we'd end up having to pay his pension.

He’s only got five to go.

124 league appearances, 25 goals

I think clubs need to just pay the going rate for this kid and stop trying to cheap out, it's not just his ability but he's such a good character. That's one of the main reasons he will go right to the top. There is no risk associated with signing him.

Bristol City want £25-30m for Alex Scott, I don't think £50m is a ridiculous ask at all - he's probably worth more if we're honest, but relegation has harmed his peak value.

Or they keep whining and we have a central midfield of Charles and Lavia next season. Which I'm here for.

Even yesterday against Goztepe he looked a class act when he came on. That's reinforcing his value and like you say, there are a number of characters that frankly let themselves down last year when we were on our downward spiral, but Lavia still gave it every game 100%. He comes with zero baggage and with so many prima donnas in this game, that's worth a pretty penny on its own.

Just to put Lavia's price into context, Liverpool were linked in the Mail with Cheick Doucoure from Palace today and the price mentioned was £70m. The Mail also suggest Chelsea now making a £80m bid for Caicedo.

Yeah I saw that and thought the exact same thing - everyone is joking in this transfer market for midfielders.

Need to post this again as he is absolute quality - you instantly saw the difference v Goteppe, he was fast, aggressive and wanted to dictate play.

Normally when someone leaves us he is dead to me but i will follow and hope lavia has a great career preferably not at liverpool though.

Makes sense.  Why cup tie him when almost certain he won't stay.  Wouldn't be surprised if kwp, jwp & Adams don't play either

It does, and it'll be telling which players we do and don't cup tie. I'm expecting to see KWP play, I I don't think he'll go.

If we're signing Max Aarons then there's no way KWP stays.

As expected the Liverpool echo are seeing this as a boost. Liverpool receive Romeo Lavia transfer boost as new deadline becomes clear (msn.com)

This comes after they were very excited on friday that Lavia was SNUBBED by Russell Martin not making the first team or even the pitch. However if Liverpool dont sign him by the weekend this can only be considered a failure. Therefore Liverpool should not allow this to happen.

I’ll light a candle for them. Imagine having to participate in the pantomime of their ‘support’.

Why?

We have several right backs already, so won't be signing another until one more departs.

Could be Bree leaving of course, but that may rely on Jones getting another gig, unless Luton think he can do a job for them (which I think would have happened by now if it was going to).

I'd have thought it more to do with injury risk. I doubt Liverpool would offer less if he was cup tied for the EFL cup

...with both sets of fans (Chelsea and Liverpool) playing the ...will he / won't he? ...game about Lavia,

it will be interesting to know if Romeo will take himself along to Stamford Bridge this afternoon...

to watch both teams ?.... or quietly sit somewhere and watch the game on TV....?

I'm sure some keen-eyed journo' will find out the answer.....

Unless he's sitting somewhere quietly and watching the game.  That would be weird.

Reading the Liverpool forum is fucking hilarious now that they've seemingly missed out on signing both Lavia & Caicedo. Seem to be under the delusion that they are playing against teams with a lot more money who break the rules....take a look at yourselves first lads.
