hypochondriac Posted 16 July, 2022 Posted 16 July, 2022 I have to admit, seeing the team lineups like that does worry me. We continue to have a few standout players and that's about it so far. Another 3 or 4 needed for me. 2

SambaMaverick Posted 16 July, 2022 Posted 16 July, 2022 Armstrong scores - presumably only because the ball went nowhere near his foot, which seems to have the world's strongest forcefield
The Kraken Posted 16 July, 2022 Posted 16 July, 2022 Nice header. Romeu and Stuart Armstrong have brought a bit more control to things.
coalman Posted 16 July, 2022 Posted 16 July, 2022 I keep thinking we've signed Pierluigi Collina's younger brother then I remember Smallbone has given up on hair. 2
AlexLaw76 Posted 16 July, 2022 Posted 16 July, 2022 Another shot on target, another one McCarthy lets in. No idea if he should have saved it, but he does not seem to that often 1
alpine_saint Posted 16 July, 2022 Posted 16 July, 2022 Yes, I am there. That second goal was awful from us. All the defence lined up in a pretty row daydreaming

coalman Posted 16 July, 2022 Posted 16 July, 2022 If we combined the best team from both halves we'd be ok
Bad Wolf Posted 16 July, 2022 Posted 16 July, 2022 Missed 20 minutes. Did we equalise or did it go 2-0 then 2-1?
The Kraken Posted 16 July, 2022 Posted 16 July, 2022 A Armstrong equalised with a nice header then we conceded a couple of minutes later.

AlexLaw76 Posted 16 July, 2022 Posted 16 July, 2022 Not that much can be made of our performance, as this is game 1 of pre-season However, the style of play is not much of a change, I guess we are hoping the players brought in make the team better. I still do not like how we consistently surrender the middle of the park. We need a starting quality striker and another full-back 4

OttawaSaint Posted 16 July, 2022 Posted 16 July, 2022 Ugh! This makes me so angry (and worried) that McCarthy is anywhere near our matchday squad. He's not a premier league level keeper and is getting worse. 1 1

The Kraken Posted 16 July, 2022 Posted 16 July, 2022 Should’ve been 2-2. Poor ball from Smallbone, poor miss from Small
Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd Posted 16 July, 2022 Posted 16 July, 2022 Alex '3 Goals' McCarthy living up to his name. And still that useless prick will probably start on the opening day of the season. I know it's only a preseason friendly but nothing seems to have changed at all. Style of play is the same. Defensively poor. Nothing up front. Some of our players looked like they were really struggling. Probably the heat. 1

The Kraken Posted 16 July, 2022 Posted 16 July, 2022 Well, one should never read too much into pre season games. But there wasn’t a huge amount to be optimistic about in those 105 minutes. Bazunu looks good, Lavia a prospect, not much to be really confident about outside of that. We look horrendously short of creativity up top, outside of the goal I don’t think we troubled their keeper. 1

Second half was a bit livelier.
northam soul Posted 16 July, 2022 Posted 16 July, 2022 Observations with first game caveats. walker Peters must not be sold. lavia looks promising. Bazunu looked solid, at last a keeper that does. Thats pretty much all the positives. I am guessing Ralph is going 5 at the back as his default this season so We really need some attacking quality. Djeneppo did what he usually does and flatter to deceive. Valery should not be anywhere near the team. Didn’t think Aribo contributed at all. Bella kotchap looked sloppy at times. Tella was also anonymous. 3
