it is pretty good when you get to the business end, as you would expect.

No idea how good Spain are, but England have a great chance of winning

If they've made it to the final then they must be very good, because the days of really poor women's teams going deep into tournaments and the USA being light years ahead of everyone else are well and truly over.

England have perhaps ridden their luck a little today, with a couple of poor misses from Australia, but it's been another very solid, professional performance. Provided we can maintain that level of concentration in the final, we will have a great chance of winning because we have some incredible attacking talent.

Fantastic performance today! We’re in the World Cup Final!

Top quality goals. Australia’s counter attacking game got them the win against us in the friendly, and probably gave them the best chance against us today, but we looked far more comfortable against a team that doesn’t use a high press.

A final is always a one-off game where anything can happen of course, but we go into it with a fantastic chance of holding both the Continental and World Cup at the final whistle.

Indeed. But, I will be getting increasingly  annoyed every time someone says "....since 1966".

Cracking game, with chances at both ends. With Kerr being so prolific, I thought at least one of those chances would go in, when England were on the back foot. I think having defenders who play at the same club, helped to prevent her having even more chances.

England's work rate is superb. Goals keep coming from forcing opponents to make quick, defensive decisions, and England capitalise on mistakes clinically.

Really good performances all round. Hemp works so hard, drawing players away and chasing down opponents, in addition to her own attacking skill. Bronze controlled the game after England's third. Walsh always available in space to get attack started.

Y’know, we’ve just won a World Cup Semi-Final. Any chance of anyone talking about football?

No one even mentioned the match until the first goal went in.

Sorry dad.

Hemp was incredible today, making herself a strong contender for our player of the tournament.

You seem to think many people on here give a toss?

Plenty do. They're just not as vocal as the ones who constantly feel the need to remind everyone else that they don't.

I seem to remember pictures of scantily clad nuns were a thing for a while on Saints match threads. Were they relevant? Did they all get deleted?

I didn't watch the game because I'm in a field without good enough internet connection so can't talk about the actual match but well done to England.

Exactly. It’s going on a lot lately and completely pathetic.

The funny thing is a lot of the complementary comments have been removed in the attempt to make this a very serious, on topic only forum with no deviation from the subject

Oh sorry, I’ll just go ahead and restore all the posts that aren’t talking about football, and are instead speculating about people’s sexuality or implying that people need to watch extreme videos because of their sexuality.

Oh wait. No I won’t.

There is a steely professionalism to the England womens team, that is missing in the big moments from the men's team. I'm looking forward to the final and have every expectation England will win.

There were no extreme videos.

But it was really poor keeping? Not allowed to critique womens football?

You, and a few inevitable others have missed the point I was making. Nobody is saying it was good goalkeeping, but that the poster has form.. Jumping on anything negative about women's football to use it as a reason to criticise and be negative, and he has issues about a few other areas of difference too. Bazunu's goalkeeping, huh, men's football!!

Anyway, having rarely been tipsy on a Wednesday lunchtime I shan't be back for a bit but here's looking forward to Sunday!

Spain weren't that good last summer when I watched them against Germany. Although they passed nicely and had the majority of possession, they posed minimal threat in the final third. At the other end it felt like Germany could carve through the defence with long balls, and although the match finished 0-2, it could have been 0-4.

A lot can happen twelve months down the line, but England managed to beat both sides last year and have weathered their last two matches while coping with a partisan crowd. I haven't paid much attention to this World Cup and would note that Australia have apparently not been very good all tournament, but as others have pointed out, England have improved as they have progressed through the rounds. They'll be in a decent position to peak and win the final.

You basically deleted every post that wasn’t strictly discussing the game. Bit like on other threads posts have disappeared that haven’t been strictly discussing current transfers news. If people just want news then there are plenty of news sites they can join or newsnow, but the reason people PAY to be on this forum is to have discussion, ,speculation and dare I say it a it of fun now and again not have every frigging post deleted one of the moderators who has taken it upon themselves to do as they dont like them

Yep, didn’t see it all but saw bits, good goals, good performance in a difficult atmosphere against a good side. It would be brilliant if they went the full way. Have we played spain recently?

Beat them in the quarters of the Euros didn't we?

I distinctly remember there were no posts on the Sheffield Wednesday match thread at all until we scored, because everyone was just watching the game.

I surprised myself by how much I’ve enjoyed the last couple of England games but do wonder if we could find a goalkeeper taller than 5’8”?  She was clearly beaten for height for the goals conceded against Colombia and Australia….

She's the best womens keeper in the world despite her height.

It will only get more annoying on Sunday when people will start talking about Geoff Hurst if an England player scores.

That’s how tournament football is, as much luck as good play. The teams playing the best, most attractive football rarely win it. England have done the job in the early rounds, had that scare against Nigeria and then fairly comfortably won the quarters and semis, improved during the tournament and now peaking at the right time. I’d be pretty shocked if we lost on Sunday to be honest,’ just seem to have that winners mentality now and a very good manager who seems to pretty much always get it right when it matters
