I loved the pennos in the France / Aussie match.  Great drama!

Here's hoping England find a bit of form today.  If they can go up a couple of years we have a real shot at winning

Gets a lot of stick but standard of skill in that game looked pretty good.

What a match! Absolutely buzzing after that! Fantastic atmosphere, and two teams pushing each other. I know some will say there were no goals, but was still a very entertaining game. Some really good penalties in there as well. Fowlers pen was stunning

I'm waiting for a train at nearby Roma St after seeing the game with wife and youngest daughter.  An extraordinary game which pulsated with drama and unending noise from the 50k crowd.  Women's Football is here to stay - it's mainstream and attracting crowds, media networks and advertising dollars.

As a Father of four daughters its wonderful to watch Women's sport - particularly Football and Cricket establish itself as genuinely entertaining and a symbol of greater recognition, respect and participation for girls and Women's sport.

Lots of slow paced faffing about by England's defence with really sloppy passing

Not sure what you're watching, England have been a lot more direct this game.

Same game as you SC, we are not dealing with their press making us give the ball away too much. We look ragid.

Pretty shitty of Colombia not to give the ball back there after Bronze put it out of play so their player could get treatment. So much for the women's game being more sporting.

We haven’t been at our most dominant this tournament, a large part of that is the players we’re missing, as well as how well other teams have progressed, but it’s huge credit to our resilience under Wiegman that we keep finding a way to win.

Caicedo is some player for Colombia.

How unlike you to emphasise one of the usual criticisms of women's football, used by men who want to disparage it.

As for your sneer about safe spaces in the Solent Forum thread, personally I'm fine as long as I don't have to sit next to you, as you come over as unpleasantly as your avatar.

But it was really poor keeping? Not allowed to critique womens football?

Was I wrong about the goal-keeping standard?

That’s it. They want to be taken seriously, but then get all uppity when you analyse the keepers mistakes.

It was hardly a goalkeeping howler, you'll see worse every week in the PL.

And each of them will Highlighted on a number of occasions, why shouldn’t it be mentioned because it was a woman making it?

Course you can. I've watched a tonne of games with mates and we praise when it is due, and criticise errors. Like we do every football match. It's when someone pops up the sole purpose of criticising it, you are gonna get called up with it. So stop being a baby.

You get uppity when women are mentioned in any context, probably because you are uncomfortable/awkward in their presence, like a spotty teenager

Touch of the Bednarek's there

What, not in any way being able to detect the presence of opposing attackers? Yeah, sounds about right

And utterly failing to prevent them from getting to the ball and shooting despite being goalside and being firm favourite to deal with it.

Great goal. I've been very impressed with the quality of football, compared to 10-15 years ago it's unrecognisable.

it is pretty good when you get to the business end, as you would expect.

No idea how good Spain are, but England have a great chance of winning

The group stages were awful with teams that would struggle against Tyro league sides but the knock out stages have been better.

Anyone else fantasise about scoring for England and being mobbed with all those women jumping on you?

Just Russo and Daly would do for me
