I think that's nonsense. John scored some absolute belters out of nowhere, rasiak was only really capable of finishing well set up chances.

Really bizarre to revise history and start slating stern John. He is literally the only reason we stayed up that season.

No revision on my part, I thought it was daft then and haven’t really changed my mind. Rasiak scored over 20 goals the year before, between him, Saga, BWP and a young DMG we easily had enough fire power to stay up.

If we’d actually focused on the immediate need to replace Baird, Powell and Claus and not wasted money on John, Euell a half arsed loan for Bennett and panic buying Thomas, we’d have been nowhere near the relegation fight. Two decent CBs with the Pele/Baird/Jones/Bale money and we’d have been comfortably top half.

If wasting money gets you a striker who scores 19 goals a season, then I for one hope we waste some more before August.

Rasiak scored 28 goals in 78 games for Saints. Kenwyne Jones scored 19 in 71 yet Stern John, his replacement in the swap deal, scores the same number of goals in 47 games and is a failure.
