Now there's a player who played like his life depended on it when he was on loan with us, made the loan permanent, then pretty much popped on his slippers and stoked up his pipe.

That’s always been a myth which annoyed me. He may have been wildly inconsistent in front of goal but I never saw anything resembling a lack of effort. Rasiak and Stern John were the lazy strikers back then. Saganowski was alway a willing worker, plus he also had a decent run of about 6 goals in 8 games when he came back from Aalborg under Mark Wotte.

I think we obviously differ on that, he worked hard but the spark dulled once he had signed on the dotted.

However Rasiak I can agree with you on being blooming frustrating.  As mentioned before, the Norwich game the night before going out on loan, as those around us commented on his performance "there's going to be a  man waiting in the tunnel with a bottle to be pee'd in!".

I disagree that either John or Rasiak were lazy. They didn't run around a lot but they were both pretty slow. They played to their strengths and did what they were good at, scored goals. RVN rarely ventured outside the final third of the pitch but he certainly wasn't lazy.

Rasiak didn't run around much but had the habit of being in the right place at the right time.

19 goals in half a season. We could use someone like that now.

Only ever scored about 5 at St Mary's and only one at the Northam End. Against Nigel Adkins' Scunthorpe.
