Transfer window opens on 10th June 2022, it is pointless looking at odds before the majority of transfers have been announced. The Saints squad will look very different come the end of the window.

True, maybe odds on by the end of the window

Let’s just shut down the forum then!

You see I don't think it is pointless.  At the moment we are priced to finish, on average among the bookies, 15th.  So this is a whole industry of football watchers, heavily invested financially but without an axe to grind, estimating we will finish 15th.  Firstly it's a good objective antidote to those on either extreme of this forum (we're doomed, or top 10 here we come).  Secondly I like to see how this moves over the course of the transfer window.  In the absence of any actual matches, this is one of the few gauges we have for what sort of a squad we are perceived to have, relative to our competitors. Having a pre-window snapshot of bookies' thinking gives us a base for what happens next. And thirdly; there are some bargains to be had if you want to take on the bookies - some of these clubs will do considerably better than these odds and some considerably worse.  (If pushed I'd take a punt on Leicester at 20-1 with Betway right now)

Surprised we're 6th favourite, I'd have probably had put us in front of Brentford and Leeds.

No value in 4/1 though.

Brentford would have gone down without Eriksen, Leeds just barely scraped survival. I can see why they’d be more likely favourites.

IMO, Brentford are a decent side, made better by Eriksen. Who knows what next year holds but they don’t look likely to go down right now.

Leeds had a lot of injuries. If they can get them all back fit, then they’ll finish above us IMO. But then I am in a very negative mindset when it comes to saints atm!

Eriksen was definitely the difference for them. They looked very ordinary when we beat them at St Mary's. You could tell the effect he had on them in the return game at their place. They will be doing very well to keep hold of him.

When was the last time all 3 promoted clubs went down? Might be worth a flutter.

I actually think it happened fairly recently didn't it? Within the last 5 years or so? Always libel to have when you have these yoyo clubs.

I’d rather be a yoyo club than one continuously struggling - El Condor Pasa

I think its just a fair reflection of the fact the league is strong.

Of course the three promoted teams will start as favourites and as unknown quantities but aside from those the only teams we finished above last season are Everton whose squad massively underperformed and Leeds who have already bought a player for £30m this summer.

Personally I find it extremely unlikely that the following will be relegated: West Ham, Wolves, Leicester, Newcastle, Villa

That leaves: Brighton, Palace and Brentford who all had good seasons and will be confident with further additions that they won't be involved at the bottom.

Summary: its entirely fair and IMO we are probably 5th favourites for the drop behind the promoted sides and possibly Brentford.

We really need all the promoted teams to struggle because its hard to see any of the others getting less than 35 points. Having Burnley and Huddersfield in there next season would have been much better!

I'm in a very negative mindset when Ralph is our manager, irrespective of coaching personnel!

Forest are too good to go down?

I think so.  They've waited a long time to get back and will probably see a significant investment over the summer.  It's their second season up that they need to be careful.

Just had a look at oddschecker and we are generally 6 th favourite to go down, which surprises me. The bookies are more confident in us  than I am at this stage !

Best long shot  for the drop looks to be BHA at 8 or 9/1, Surprised to see Wolves at 4 and 5/1 in some places.

Think the Lampard and Silva odds could look generous come mid Septemner

I think the Lampard odds are generous, he didn't really pull up any trees with Everton last season and they edged over the line through Richarlisons goals - who has now left. They've got a lot of work to do if they are to be competitive in my opinion. A bit of a mish mash of a team.

Get money on Marcsh as well, I don't rate him. He irritates me, he's a bit like Ted Lasso. But I don't think he really pulled up any tree's at Leeds either, they literally scraped through and they've lost their 2 best players since.

Worth a few quid on Lampard. Once the penny drops with the scousers that he isn’t very good they will turn in an instant.

Yeah I can’t see him lasting long. He’s not very good and he seems like a divisive character, constantly throws his players under the bus. Lose some form and he’ll likely lose the dressing room.

That's encouraging, they've sussed out what we already knew that changing all the players and all the coaching staff will not reverse our atrocious form at the end of last season

Thats the spirit 😒

Not necessarily, ask yourself has the penny dropped with our fans that RH isn't very good?

I don't either but checked and 15 points from 12 games isn't relegation form. And they missed Bamford for a lot of those games I think.

Wouldn't have said he'd done that well, somewhat surprising. I guess some of that may be a 'bounce' effect, but hard to say.

I dunno, I just have a feeling that he will crash and burn and his americanisms will begin to irritate all.
