ImproveOurAtmosphere Posted 20 May, 2022 Posted 20 May, 2022 Evening. Next season, we ought to generate a bit of atmosphere in the Chapel/ Itchen South part of the ground, considering we shoot that way in the second half 90% of the time. A bit of passion and chanting has got to be worth a couple of points a season. There's currently several seats available towards the back of these blocks. Would anyone be interested in getting something going?
The Kraken Posted 20 May, 2022 Posted 20 May, 2022 No thanks pal. You could try asking Nordic Saint though, I reckon he’d be well up for it. 1
Dman Posted 20 May, 2022 Posted 20 May, 2022 Not gonna get a great response this one, but FairPlay for trying. Something needs to be done as the atmosphere at St Mary’s is beyond appalling. We have to be one of the worst in terms of support (not numbers, but atmosphere) in the league. That being said, moving a few shirters across to the chapel isn’t going to do much…

However, I can't really justify £595 season ticket in the Northam/ Itchen North, but £399 is a bit more reasonable. It seems a bit unfair that those in the kingsland north and itchen north pay more for what is the same veiw as the itchen south. Fairplay to the club I guess for making it so cheap, but wish it was a different section.

The reason it’s cheap, is because it’s full of kids. 1

I don’t know if it’s the same now, but itchen south always used to be used for the majority of club comp tickets. Select staff used to get a couple of season tickets, it was a standard area for non VIP guests. BT have their studio in one of the boxes there, the players box is there too. It’s about the most likely area to not be full, and to have non singers.

Or you can save your pennies and sit in the itchen south, where you get looked at weirdly for getting passionate about the team.

I cut my teeth as a Milton muppet, went to the east stand lower while it was terracing (mostly up towards the Archers), then finally mostly the Archers when all seater (although I did see Nicky Banger’s hat trick from there on the terracing). 3

The reason it's cheap in that area is because no one was sitting there so they offered some cheap tickets to fill it. Ideally you'd get a load of 18 year olds in that area making a noise but they all want to be in the Northam or Blocks 1/2/3 because that's where the atmosphere is.
Dragon_man Posted 20 May, 2022 Posted 20 May, 2022 .... and why are there so many spare seats in sold out games? I get it that some season ticket holders can't be bothered, some people fall ill, some have emergencies etc but when I go to away games and see the likes of Liverpool at home, on TV, there isn't a spare seat to be seen. On Tuesday, there were tons of spare seats.

On Tuesday, there were tons of spare seats. Every ground has that problem, tbf. Someone should put an FOI request into the Hampshire Constabulary, as they are required to know the exact number of people physically in the ground for games whereas the club can announce the number of tickets sold as the attendance (it's a common practice most clubs use). I remember a national paper did this for all the PL grounds one season and Arsenal averaged at least 5k below the attendances they were announcing on matchday.

They have for previous seasons, eg below. https://www.hampshire.police.uk/SysSiteAssets/foi-media/hampshire-constabulary/other_information/hc-000174-18.pdf

I don’t think those police figures are correct either though. I’ve seen attendances on there listed at 26,000 when the place has been packed. 6,000 below capacity is an entire empty stand, no way was that anywhere near the case

I'll do my best. Hope some others follow suit.

ImproveOurAtmosphere Posted 5 June, 2023 Author Posted 5 June, 2023 Back of Block 15/16 for anyone interested in a bit of atmosphere down the chapel / itchen south part of the ground. Seems to have generated some interest on twitter. We have the second highest season ticket prices for adults in the championship, excluding the itchen south price. Yet no one likes sitting there due to its lack of atmosphere.if you’re interested please follow @backofthechapel on twitter. If you aren’t - please ignore. thanks
Wade Garrett Posted 5 June, 2023 Posted 5 June, 2023 Sat there last season. Should put the away supporters there. Enough of the cunts were there last season. 1
Leighsterrr Posted 7 June, 2023 Posted 7 June, 2023 I'm in Itchen South, and there were a few away fans chucked out of block 15 at the Liverpool game but the stewards took an age to do anything! There's a few of us joining in when the chants start up but if it started up in that block I reckon you'd have more takers! I've got a big gob so I'd join in 👍🏻
Pamplemousse Posted 8 June, 2023 Posted 8 June, 2023 Personally, if I were the club, I'd stop selling season tickets in the Northam and force everyone to move to the Chapel. It wouldn't be popular but is the only way if we want a 'proper' home end and moving the away fans isn't an option. 1
