It seems to be what everyone is hearing, and it needs to happen. We can't keep standing still, we've been somewhat forced to in recent years due to Gao but I'm really hopeful that this new takeover changes that.

Like you said, these are smart people in charge. They're not going to be content with us sitting still every year. Rasmus himself knows from his experience at Brentford that it requires investment, and clever investment at that. I think we are on the path of being a development club, but we need a bit of help to kick start that process because we don't have a squad full of much quality to re-sell at the moment.

If we have that initial investment, sign sensibly and smartly, we will hopefully have that conveyor belt of developing/selling for big bucks/going again in place over the next few years. It's the model clubs like us have to use if we want to be successful and I'm happy with that. Bigger clubs follow very similar principles, notably Dortmund and the RB clubs. Whilst it's probably disappointing for them to lose Dembele, Werner, Dayot, Halland etc after a couple of years, they replace well and go again. That's what we've got to do and that's why scouting is so important for clubs like us, as we can't repair our mistakes. (as we've seen).

Yup, agreed. We sold Lovren for Van Dijk, Lallana for Tadic/Mané, you could go on and on. We've done it before, we can do it again.

Saw them all getting on the coach at St Marys as my lad was playing in a tournament there. Haven't seen such a miserable team in a long time. Half of them didn't wave to the kids or anything. Not even a hello or a smile. Really bad PR exercise.

Thankfully the last 90 minutes to endure this season. You can amost guarantee a Vardy or Maddison goal. Hopefully we can sneak a draw, although not holding much hope. Looking to next season I would go with -

                     McCarthy

KWP       Salisu    Lyanco     Small

Armstrong  JWP   Romeu   Redmond

               Adams  Armstrong

Posted

                          McCarthy

            Valery Bednarek Stephens

Djenepo                                        Tella

                  Smallbone   Elyounoussi

                           Walcott

                    Long   A. Armstrong

Shop Window XI 🙂

Surely a European cup winning team there.

Beats me how Redmond (1 deflected goal in 13 months plus loads of poor performances) sneaks into the team. Goes to show how low our standards have become. He wouldn’t be near anyone else’s PL first team.

Tend to agree… although I thought he was ‘ok’ on Tuesday night (I know, I know!). However, the biggest issue we have is that all of the “10’s” excluding S. Armstrong are just a shitty much of a muchness. You know that not one combination of them will impact a game.

I am personally not an Ely fan at all, ditto Djenepo, Walcott… Tella is very hot and cold (and was awful on Tuesday too). I just don’t think Ralph can win with selections of attacking midfielders as they are going to be useless either way 😂 big clear out and some genuine quality needed here!

He’s a crafty little git, every time his played this season he’s barely gone through the motions,  now, at the end of the season, in a game watched across the world, he decided to put in a shift. Seems to have been enough to con his admirers and potential suitors. He and Walcott  are the two I want shifted more than any other players. Theo is knackered, I can forgive  that, but Redmond just doesn’t give a crap.

Our attacking midfielders are crap so I’m going to eliminate them altogether. 433

McCarthy

KWP Lyanco Salisu Small

JWP Romeu Armstrong

Armstrong Broja Adams

3 nil win, attackers showing what they can do. 🤤

Seriously it’ll be another defeat as we’re just not good enough.

Walcott going to the MLS. Pick a team. Got to be a Mens team. Colorado Rapids 🧐

He did travel yesterday, so maybe he's going to get a late sub appearance to wave goodbye to the travelling fans.

Hoping we can sign off the season with a good performance and at least get a point. The last couple of months have been very dissapointing. Big changes needed in the summer. COYR :)

Hoping today is the final time Redmond, Stephens, Long, Bednarek or Valery pull on a Southampton shirt.

That also goes for Walcott and  Djenepo but assuming they won’t even make the squad today.

Would include McCarthy in that but we know he’s staying 😏

Pointless match, that I'm completely ambivalent about. I'll watch it of course, but just want the season done with and a reset/refresh.

A sunny Sunday stroll about, and a 3-1 loss.

Don't mind Stephens remaining as a squad player.

Otherwise agree with your list, but would also add Elynoussi and Tella to be cast off if possible.

What on earth has Che done wrong? Thought he was our best player v Brighton recently.

Probably the striker we have best suited to leading the line on his own.

The manager is horrific

Just one observation.... Ideal opportunity to give a few of the promising u18s/u23s a crack of the whip, on the bench at least, but nope.... What's that all about?

Edit: actually, the youngsters only played a few days ago so that would probably explain that one. As you were...

I think it’s criminal that he hasn’t been starting. Yes he misses chances, but he at least seems to be able to create them either for himself or others. Our best strikers invariably perform better alongside him.

This is why I'm not behind Ralph anymore. He gets the hump with players and freezes them out.

This season he came back from the EUROs absolutely buzzing so RH cooled him off by benching him for the first few games.

What kind of deluded line-up is that?  I've been very much in the 'stick with Ralph' camp but no more.  Adam Armstrong has been given a poisoned chalice there: no creativity yet he is expected to be the 1 up top.  Redmond should not be in the squad, let alone the team and Elyounoussi is so far off the required level it's not funny.

What a depressing end to the season.  What's up with the absence of Broja and what on earth has Adams done wrong?

Walcott and Djenepo on the bench?  Surely some of the youngsters would be a better bet on the bench?

Same old rubbish and the end of the season cannot come quick enough.

One up front. Playing for a nil nil here... which means Leicester will be at least one nil up by 20 minutes.

20 seems generous

Bernard Cribbins look a like competition he has to go to in Bursledon and he won't make it back in time for KO

Hmmm, this is not how you get the best out of Adam Armstrong. The main, glaring, obvious weakness in his game is a lack of physicality and height. So playing him as a single striker doesn't make a great deal of sense. The only player we have who can play that lone role is Adams.

I feel he's going to be totally isolated with that nothing attack behind him. If we had quality in the 10's who can break the line with their pace and get to the bylines etc it may be different, but we don't so it's going to be a slog. Feels like Armstrong has been sent out to fail so we have an excuse to give up on him.

I am hoping for a performance that will at least persuade me a bit that Ralph shouldn’t be sacked.

I fear more of the same though.

If we one 9 - 0 I wouldn’t be persuaded he should stay, he’s had his chance.

Not so long ago people were slagging off Che for missing easy chances and slagging Ralph off for not giving Adam Armstrong game time. He was slagged off for not changing things before now he is being slagged off for changing things. Perhaps at least wait for the match to start before you start sticking the knife in again? It seems to me that we have a large portion of fans who just want to moan all the time. Ok it’s been a very disappointing end to the season, but I’d rather be us than Burnley or Leeds today.

I would have liked two up front, and no Elynoussi in the starting line up.

The defence is pick two out of three and hope they manage to limit the mistakes.

Can see our midfield being overrun and bypassed quite easily looking at both line ups.

Another shit line up in a free hit. Why not give Small a start and at least have a proper LB? No balance at all and AA being hung out to dry. Time to go Ralph.

Remember the Coventry match.
