Nordic Saint Posted 13 May, 2022 Share Posted 13 May, 2022 The number of songs that have become football anthems is fairly limited and most of them are old. Yellow Submarine is still being sung in Italy. But, there is one I think would be brilliant, which, as far as I know, has never been used and that's Neil Young's Southern Man. Of course, the lyrics would need to be changed but the melody is about as perfect as you could get for a football anthem, especially for Southampton. Turkish Posted 13 May, 2022 Share Posted 13 May, 2022 Those days are gone, these days they want to sing about having mars bars on each others heads and have bantz with the other fans and video themselves/opposition for instagram. Saints have never been great for songs and it seems to be getting progressively worse. As for southern man, it's over 50 years old, you aren't going to get kids who love Stormzy and all that nosense singing anything like that.
