On a more relevant note, over the last week I did actually queue to shuffle past the coffin and it was a remarkable experience.  Something I wanted to do and well worth the wait to 'witness' history.

However, people 'clapping' someone who is off to his mum's funeral is odd

Genuinely, what did Mike Tindall get four medals for? I assume one is an M/OBE, surely he’s not wearing his WC medal from 2003.

I believe his 4 are:

- MBE

- WC winners medal

- Golden jubilee medal (by virtue of being  a royal)

- Platinum jubilee medal (ditto)

Surprised he didn't add his waitrose card.

Good day for a drive.

Went out this morning searching for a newspaper and had a bit of a drive around. Centre of town deserted although I noticed the Marlands appeared to be open.

A few small shops open.

Tried listening to the radio in the car but the 8 stations I tried all had the funeral.

I thought it was just me, the clapping does jar slightly, it broke out again down that last parade stretch.

Well done you.

How long did you have to queue?

11 hours - almost to the minute from getting my wristband in Southwark park, to going through the security scanners at Westminster.

It was very well done to be fair.  Huge amount of staff across the entire queue, loads of police (from all over), plenty of refreshments etc (some free, some not).

Inside was surreal.  the coffin was very high up and the Soldiers and Beefeaters keeping 'vigil' just made it very moving.

There was one funny.  As you can imagine security at Westminster was incredibly strict and you could not take in food, liquid etc.  Anything non-perishable or opened was donated to food banks etc (and there were mountains of it).  A chap a few behind me was moaning/almost kicking off as he had to bin his multi-pack of lockets.  He was trying to say they were like his medicine.  After arguing with the staff, a copper came over and said don't like it, please feel free to go home and watch it on youtube.  The packets of Lockets were thrown into the bin.

Is it just me who finds everyone lining the route taking photos to be in poor taste? It’s less paying respect and more ‘for the Instagram’.

Weird when see aerial shots and all you can see are arms aloft holding their phones. Some whooping earlier as well. Who are these people who whoop at funerals?

British people really are thick as fuck sheep.

As the queens coffin passes a group of people one moron thinks it’s appropriate to shout “hip hip” and far too many people responded with “hooray”

On what planet is that appropriate for a funeral procession?

who knows.  But it was crystal clear from the very start of the queue (and sign posted all the way), what was allowed in with everything else being off limits - bar no exceptions.

There were also people grumpling for having to turn off their phones as they pass through the security scanners, and keeping them off until they are out the other side.

Me and the missus both thought it was odd and not really appropriate.

Thought it was a good send off for her and went smoothly. Did chuckle at one guy marching through horse shite and trying to flick it off with each step after.

Try going into the Guildhall for a gig with a bag. My other half had her mints taken off her because no food or drink are allowed in the venue.

Went there on Saturday to see Doug Stanhope and they were asking £5.50 for a can of San Miguel poured into a plastic cup at the bar. The pricks.

Doing my head in. What do these people think they're going to do with these blurry shaky videos of the coffin going past that you can barely see because you've got someone's head in the foreground, another camera being held up either side of the shot and the grenadiers blocking most of the view anyway?

When are you ever going to watch that back?

Morons who are incapable of living in the moment.

Wow. People sat in camping chairs directly outside Windsor castle holding up their phones to get pictures as the coffin is right in front of them. Not one of them stood up out of respect.

Imagine going to all of that effort to be there and then sitting down as she goes past for fuck sake.

Incapable of living in the moment. Only too happy to tell others about that moment for years to come.

Exactly - want to watch this bit of crap footage or the professional BBC one.

Not just a few either, it’s all of them

Seeing it during football highlights on MOTD, or whatever.  Slow mo of goals being scored, with some vastly overweight lad, probably half cut, with his phone out filming whilst celebrating (with the customary gut hanging out)

On days like today (and the jubilee) when it’s politically correct to be nationalistic there really is no country that does it better than we do.

Incredibly proud of them all. Didn’t see a foot out of place. The pall bearers deserve credit - perfect and not an easy job.

They were phenomenal weren't they. Unflustered, never out of place.

That would not have been an easy job to take that up the stairs to St Georges Chapel, but they did it with ease. The whole thing makes you feel proud to be British really, everything good about us out on show (minus the stupid hecklers and mobile phones).

The whole thing was so moving, it was faultless from start to finish. The whole country done her proud.

We do this stuff so well, just the right levels of pomp and dignified sadness.

Those young soldiers and sailors involved in carrying and accompanying the coffin in particular will feel proud for the rest of their lives, a tremendous responsibility performed faultlessly.. Regardless of your feeling towards the Queen or the monarchy this was a great day for the country.
