Firstly I am astonished Ralph has allowed players extended time off rather than use the time to try and fix the ongoing shitshow. It's not as if they haven't been on holiday last couple months!!!!

If we play a back 4 then we will be playing right into Liverpool's hands. Leaving two centre backs exposed too mane/Salah/Jota (firmino/Diaz) is just mental when our fullbacks are too far upfield to recover their positions. Has to be 5-4-1 for me.  Midfield has to offering some protection.

Forster

KWP

Perraud

Stephens (at least he tries)

Salisu

Lyanco

Romeu

JWP

Stu

Redmond

Adams

Personally i think it's crazy to play 5 at the back vs liverpool as shown last time we played them and tried that. That's playing into their hands, to me 4-5-1 makes much more sense as you congest the area of the pitch they want to play in. If you don't want your fullbacks to bomb forward, tell them not to bomb forward as much.

There will be zero pressure on us for this game, it might all be on Liverpool. They should go out there and give 300% and batter the bin dipping fuckers and make them all cry by denying them the title. Kick them all over the park, biting, elbows the lot.

We’ll get smashed at least 5-0.

Tickets now on general sale! Astonishing, when was the last time we had trouble shifting tickets for the Bindippers visit?

Guess public executions are not that popular in the 21st C.

£45 for a meaningless game, with the team playing sh*te, at a time when people are feeling the pinch from the cost of living crisis. Doesn’t surprise me, between parking, pub and ticket it’s an easy £70 saved not going to this game.

Game sold out over 3 weeks ago, but fans can return tickets and season ticket holders list theirs for sale, about 5 tickets available at the moment

It was announced as a sell out 6 days ago!

Any tickets for sell are probably people selling them on the ticket exchange due to the change of date and not being able to make the new date.

How many of those that bought, albeit with a purchase history, will be Liverpool fans though.

Not that it matters too much I guess, more money for the club’s coffers.

It’s strange as I think we can deny Liverpool the title by not being as shit as we have been for a while (if Man City mess up)

Radical but IMO go back to selecting our best team with the players available:

Forster

KWP---Bednarek---Salisu---Perraud

----------Romeu-----JWP

Armstrong---------------Redmond

------Adams-------Broja--------

Only decisions for me would be whether to put Stephens in for Bednarek and Tella possibly instead of Broja.

Otherwise picks itself in this formation.

If we do change formation I would go 4-3-3 and stuck Armstrong in the middle and go with Tella and Redmond either side of Adams.

We rarely do well with 3 CBs, why pick one more than we need as 3 of them are poor and the other out of form?

We rarely do well with two up front either….. Which actually equates to 5 at least most of the time.. No midfield equals crap football….

That’s the formation we played at Anfield. Even Ralph recognised it was wrong.

Play 4411 like we did against City in the league.

I'm sure the half and half Scarf sellers will do a good trade.

I see old Klippity Klopp is getting his excuses in early and moaning about having to play us so soon after the Cup Final.

He obviously hasn't watched us lately !

Plus a few key injuries. Say 11.

Chelsea getting murdered at the minute ...just about hanging on though.

If we play five at the back, like Chelsea, it will need to mean five, as Diaz is finding so much room as James pushes up.

Origi, Jota and Firmino as subs am sure they will struggle

Fair point. It will be 3-1 to Saints.

Don’t forget Fabinho also probably out. Cue Klopp: “they make us play too much”

10 days rest VS 3 days after extra time on a warm afternoon.

And still - somehow - they'll have more energy and intensity than us come Tuesday.

I'm not saying there's something dodgy going on at Liverpool, but their ability to press for nigh on 90 minutes every game for 60+ games per season is certainly in stark contrast to every other team in Europe. We can barely keep it going for 30 minutes.

I was bored during the match. Liverpool will play 62 matches this season, that's three more than we played in 2009-10, but we didn't have £40m players making up our bench. As said before, Klopp would combust with the Football Leagues scheduling, a 46 match league season and midweek matches that matter every week, unlike the early Cup rounds when they were playing their reserve squad and the dead rubber Champions League matches. If the Premier League adopted the Easter Good Friday and Bank Holiday Monday matches we'd never hear the end of it.

Also quite astounding endurance given some reports that around 2 in 3 of the Liverpool squad are asthmatic.

My stepson for one, been a Saints member for a number of seasons and comes to games with me and my two sons.

REALLY!!!?

Hadn't seen this before. And Saints get shit for having a breather on 60 minutes?!

I have asthma and I gave Saints a call to tell them I’m available. It’s was a no. 🙄

They have far too many good players despite them being exhausted.

That nippy winger that won man of the match in the cup final will tear our defender a new arsehole.

Their midfield will bypass us every time while they have a very solid defence.

If you do get a sniff it has to be a peach of a shot as the keeper is quality.

Lets look at the Saints team that have just had a short break.

Where have they been for 5 days?

Forster - Ibiza

Bednarek - Dominica republic

Salisu - Costa Del sol

Romeu - camping at Lepe beach

Armstrong - Ibiza

JWP - Dominica republic

Diallo - France

Adams - Benidorm

Only one winner here!!

It's easier for them. They're playing with boots on a football pitch, while our are playing in flip flops on the sandy beaches where their minds are. 🙂

Classic case of everyone wanting the ball when you're winning, no-one wants it when, you know, like us for the past two months.

Proves yet again what a top man Oriel Romeu is. Non of these la-de-da foreign trip junkets for a real man.

One thing that gives me hope is Saints are always excellent after a week off. If they are anything like me they’ll have put on a stone in their holidays, so they should have adequate fat reserves to bolster their stamina.

im not sure of the formation and selection for this one, but Ralph has had a long time to consider his damage limitation strategy, which historically has proved invaluable. So I expect to see 11 players, some of whom will be chasing shadows whilst others will try to make themselves invisible. The score will be whatever Liverpool decide to settle for.

nb . those readers sensitive to cynicism and sarcasm should not read the above text.

Have our players really been allowed days off for a foreign short break just a week before they'll all be jetting off on holiday anyway?
