The formation is fundamentally flawed with how high the fullback get. If they are bombing on like that we need 3 CBS.

I'm not yet convinced Ralph should go... though the evidence is mounting. But what is clear is that we some radical improvements to our defense. Combo of a great new signing at center back plus, maybe, a specialist coach. Our marking systems are not working.

In fairness doesn't Salisu knock over erikssen who falls into Bednareks legs? What's he supposed to do?

Just watched it back and once again he goes chasing a ball he’s never going to win and leave us wide open. If he just stays in position Brentford won’t have 2 players clear through in the middle and he wouldn’t have to get knocked over chasing back again.

I'm guessing if we come back and win it'll be the players getting the credit?

Probably a bit of brilliance from an individual and Ralph making some decent changes.

Which is why it won’t happen.

I actually think this formation would suit our attempted style of play more anyway. Three defenders to cover the back line and step up to midfield when we are pressuring, two CMs to held cover the break, width from the wing backs when attacking and three central attacking players to initiate the press.

If we had confident strikers we'd have scored a couple ourselves. Problem is everytime we're put under pressure we look like conceding. This'll be either 3-0 or 2-2.

2-2 🙂

For about the 50th time this season

I think I've just clicked why JWPs corners are so ineffective. It's not down to his delivery, as we know he can put world class crosses into the box. It's the fact that our set piece routines which we work on all week in training are versus our own keepers both of whom NEVER come off their line for corners. So in games when you come up against a keeper like Raya who loves to come and claim the ball, our well rehearsed routines are cut off at the source.

It also doesnt help that the ball comes in such a pace to actually time to get to get a head on it is nearly impossible. When Redmond took some at a slower pace we did score from it/them

Ralph can’t set a team up to be solid and grind out results consistently. We’ve had him for 3 years and never seen a sniff of him being able to.

Bednerak has been dreadful in this game. Constantly stepping out of position and being second to the ball. Great finish by Armstrong shame it was offside but needs to find himself in that position more often, just peeling off the defenders shoulder.

Well, we've got 3 goalkeeping coaches and 2 poor goalkeepers so a defensive coach could be the answer.

Defensively an utter shambles yet again.

I'd be happy to never see Bednarek play for us again, but if he's going to then a least he needs a decent DM in front of him to give him some protection. When Romeu is in form he does that very well, but when he's out of form our defence gets so badly exposed. Diallo offers no protection whatsoever.

I'm not sure changing managers is even going to change anything. If a new guy still has the same poor squad is o choose from then it's not going to instantly improve.

We went from looking like genuine top half contenders before collapsing against Villa. We’ve been garbage ever since. Something must have happened.

Broja stopped playijg well.

We have 4 strikers in our first team squad, and AB's loss of form doesn't explain the defensive performances.

Oh I agree. I think we’ve always been shit defensively. We’ve literally lost 9-0 2 seasons on the bounce and we’re lucky to avoid it this season.

When Broja stopped playing well and causing the other team problems, we literally have fuck all about us other than a JWP free kick.

Brentford’s set pieces have really impressed me.

Lots of movement at the back post, bit of jostling, physical and creating space.

Ours have gone straight to GK and we look static when it comes to attacking the ball.

I doubt Ings is regretting his move at present

His wages have been tripled. They could finish bottom and he wouldn't regret it

If Ings scores at the return of Villa v Burnley then he’s basically kept SFC in the PL 3 years in a row. I’d keep AA on, nice finish earlier, just offside. Issues are at the back, Brentford could have a hatful, Diallo is clearly a box to box midfielder or on the right side of a 3, he’s not a fucking DMC. How can these morons for a manager and coaching staff not see it? As bad as Pellegrino at the moment.

Reliant on other results, hopefully Arsenal and Chelsea do the business v Leeds. Sadly, bye bye JWP to help fund with new investment a Crystal Palace summer 2021 scale squad overhaul, and hopefully some players and characters we can follow with a little bit of hope and hint of pride.

FF with a kung fu kick clearance.

Well I guess the Saints were kung fu fighting!

We go behind as fast as lightning!

Our defence could do with tightening!

And our xG is a little bit frightening!
