Hmmmmmm - do I wear the new lucky Calvins that worked for the Arsenal game?............... or are they only lucky because of the combination of wearing them AND starting Arsenal thread?.............what a dilemma!

.............I could nick a pair of Mrs JBS's and hope I don't get hit by a bus on the Northam road. (or caught by her)  😉

Ah well, as the man said on the Burnley Sky commentary "Southampton are like a box of Forrest Gumps chocolates".................. better not be the Orange Cream!

On paper I think Palace are better than us in most areas of the pitch (I’d say our midfield is better), yet their results are as Jekyll and Hyde as ours are. Both of us have nothing to play for but money and they are definitely beatable, but I can’t see past a draw unless something magical happens like Adams has an ‘on’ day or Stu shows what he’s capable of.

1-1.

I wore my Saints shirt whilst on holiday in Cyprus last week.

A bar man pointed my shirt and said, 'Southampton, what they for?'

I said, 'They are a football team in the Premiership.'

He said, 'I know. But Southampton, what they for? They win big clubs, they lose small clubs.  What they for?'

Turns out he's a fan, as he supports Pathos and Jason Puncheon plays for them now.

Taught him,

"He shits when he wants! He shits when he wants! Jason Puncheon, He shits when he wants!"

So, Ralph. Southampton, what we for?

2-0 by the way to us.

I had noticed that there was no match thread but I didn't want to start it because Lord Duckhunter is such a fragile snowflake it might have given him the vapours..:-)

I'm going to wear some lucky boxers, in tribute to John Boy Saint..;-)

As to the result I rather agree with SNSUN, so if we can manage two halves like the second half against Brighton, and if one of the WPs can wind up Zaha we should be OK.

Which players do we need to rest this week to stop them injuring their ACL in a future match?

I reckon would should treat injuries like they do in the grand national. Bring out the green tarpaulin.

Scoreline depends on how quickly JWP gets Saha sent off. If early enough, we should be fine. Wouldn't mind seeing Tella again with Stu. Adams with Broja up top. Ralph will have to play balanced full backs, which is a plus.

Why would duckie or anyone else for that matter get annoyed about you starting a match thread? Weird

Loads of tickets still available,  Palace haven't even sold out their allocation which is poor for a Saturday 3pm away game nearby , they've had their semi final apathy setting in now.

Morning all. Palace fan here, first post.

I love this away day, I live in Soton so get to have a lie in, stroll to town, few beers at Yates, head to St Marys then out with Saints fans after to discuss JWP getting in to Wilf's head.

Hoping for a decent match and of course I'd love a win. I hope you all have a good day.

With Tino now out for the season, I wonder if we will see Thierry Small come in on the bench and get some minutes in the games remaining.

One benefit of our season essentially ending in March is that we should able to give players like Small more minutes.  Would be very disappointing if he doesn't get some.

Did not know we were in Scotland's elite, or playing Rugby now?

they walloped Wolves, Everton and Arsenal (and drew with City) and since then have lost to Newcastle, Leicester, Chelsea and drawn 0-0 against Leeds. Have the lost their way or have they been unlucky in recent games?

That is mad - away day 60 miles away on bank holiday weekend. Might have to lose their commentators tag as the best fans on the planet

Nobody would have dreamed of calling them that when they were languishing in the Championship, Selhurst Park was very quiet the season we got promoted and the Ultras seemed like a naff idea born out of desperation to breathe life into a club that was losing the will to live. The difference between now and then is being in a league that teams actually want to be in.

No, your getting confused, that’s the greatest number of dna matches in one fan base. Potentially they could all donate bone marrow to each other.

As it's a "must win" game we'll lose about 3-0 but Ralph will still quack on about a top ten finish when in reality we are a 14th level team.

Will Saints ever be reliable? Yes, in the sense that they will always be reliably unreliable.

On the plus side, I am really looking forward to the kiddo's match at SMS tomorrow afternoon. Free ticket, sunny afternoon and passionate new stars to watch, what's not to like.

Every chance. Ralph will do his utmost to play KWP out of position.

I can see this being a typical saints performance. We’ll go for it and get picked off. Palace are strong and have pace on the break. We’ll leave ourselves exposed and get beat.

Usually I’m an optimist about us, I always think we can get after teams but we don’t have any balance at the moment. 4222 and we attack but can’t defend, 541 and we offer no threat but might keep a clean sheet.

They're not that good a side. No reason why we can't beat them.

If we're serious about finishing top half, today and Brentford are must wins.

Exactly this. 9th is up for grabs so hopefully we can win this one today and get back into the top ten. 2-0 to us today - Prowsey with another world class free kick and Adam Armstrong (really want to see Arma start today and grab one). COYR :)

Cheer up!

We don't know what will happen, but they are below us in the table so maybe a bit more optimism than just writing off a game 2 hours before kick off!
