Southampton FC Women 1-0 Wolverhampton Wanderers Women - National League Play-Off Final - Promoted as Champions!

Two teams used to attacking wins made for a cracking half. Wolves did have a spell where they made us have to save a few. But we've controlled that midfield. Ware has terrorised them, leading to that red card. Lots of other excellent performances from Mott to Pharaoh. Keep it going Saints!

Great to be able to enjoy a good Saints side live on the BBC. Great touch, composure and finish for the goal. Wolves unlucky with the red and think it will spoil what has otherwise been a good game of football.

Stroking it about well at the moment, it's what we should be doing just get them chasing the ball and wearing themselves out (especially given how tired Wolves looked at the end of the first half).

The last time they played this tie both teams went up...so why on earth did they play the tie!?

These wolves players are running on empty already. Even if they equalise they will have nothing in the tank for half an hour of extra time.

Score an equaliser and they won’t be running on empty for a while… we really need a second to be comfortable.

It already is comfortable mate, wolves are ruined.

Complete gulf in class here at the end of the day. Makes you feel really bad for Ipswich.

Yeah, we have some good quality in key positions. Someone like Rafferty is so far above this level.

Phew, that was close.

What a brilliant season. So pleased for everyone involved.

Will be interesting to see how they get on next season, although I'd imagine they will do very well.

Well done girls. Fair play to the saints fans, looked quite a few and outnumbered wolves

Yes, really good support. We seemed to have way more than Wolves which is a great effort considering most of ours probably had to travel much further.

Seems very cruel on Wolves. Bizarre that they don't get promotion after one loss in the league all season.

They were talking earlier about the reasons behind it being to allow clubs to build some stability...seems bizarre to me. There were three teams, saints, wolves and Ipswich whose records deserved a promotion.

Wolves much better 2nd half. Think if it stayed 11v11 Saints would've been better as well and may have won comfortably. Looking forward to seeing Saints Women next season in the Midlands. Good, cheap football played in the right spirit. What football should be!

Aye, seems wrong that no matter how well each team had done in the season, there was no way for either to avoid all that effort boiling down to one knockout game.

One thing I still really don't like about women's games is everyone who attends seems to suddenly forget the tune/timings of chants and just makes a collossal fuck up of them all.

And how is that different to fans at any saints mens game?

I know this is your ongoing comedy bit so you have to commit to it, but Saints fans at the men's games can at least sing oh when the saints with the right intonations, and can chant "we are going up" at the right pace.

Some of the lasses in floods of tears, especially amongst those who I'm guessing were injured as they were in casual wear. Nice to see a team that properly cares.

Need to go pro next season, they deserve it.
