Voting now open, what do you think?

Straight fight between Oriol Romeu and Kyle Walker-Peters or a three way tussle with JWP?

Oriol Romeu for me!

JWP and KWP in any order of 1st & 2nd.

3rd is a little tricky as everybody else has had inconsistent spells. I was certain it'd be Salisu at one point but he's fallen off a cliff, similar to Romeu. I think you could make a decent argument for Che, but wouldn't begrudge anyone disputing that with his one sitter missed per game average.

Salisu and Romeu's form has dropped off. JWP has been as consistent as ever and caught the eye recently, but KWP has been outstanding all season and gets my vote. Have we had many defenders winning POTS in the past?

KWP my player of the season, JWP isn't a close second but a firm 2nd.

If you asked me for 3rd 7 weeks ago, I'd have said Salisu, if you look at form now I would say Forster, so there could be an element of recency bias. I would say 3rd for me is Tino, but as he will or should most likely win young player of the year, I'll go Romeu.

Walcott for me, true unsung hero, keeps morale up, reduces the clubs profitability and in turn tax liability.

What is he an accountant? :D
Also reducing clubs profitability is terrible for FFP reasons ;)

It’s a football club, not a dodgy takeaway or barber shop

Fair enough, I’ll have a re think, it all seemed so obvious at the time.

I voted JWP, there were times when it could have been Oriel or KWP, but over the whole season it has to be JWP. I don’t think Ralphy- ball would function without him covering every position, assists and free kicks.

Good Day,

I'm liking the way Kylie Walker_Peters has contributed from the flanks, also I do enjoy watching Prowse craft his engine in midfield.

I am also a big fan of Kylie.

No question KWP. Best piece of transfer business we have done in a long while.

He's only started a % of the games though, is JWP our top scorer now? As a midfielder I think it has to be him

Anyone with WP in their name -----------------> Romeu. That's my top 3.

It's tough to split KWP and JWP - KWP showing he's versatile enough to play either full back position or RWB. JWP though - the dude is a machine and he gets my vote. Captain Fantastic.

Most improved player of the season? Moi or Fraser gets that I reckon.

Young'un? Tino over Broja. I'd like to have seen more of Tella this season but there's always next season...

Hardly, We made the playoffs. Still bemused it took saints so long after his fa cup final appearance to give Baird a run in the team.

we were shit when Andrew Davies won it despite only playing half a season.

Yeah, I actually thought he was a decent player to be honest. Certainly a lot better then some of the horror names on that list.

Jwp - captain, top goal scorer, up there with the most assists. KWP close second - he probably would have won it for me if he played rb all season. Rom third then a big gap to inconsistent but sometime brilliant players like Salisu, Broja, Adams and Forster.

I think you may be biased given your username….. 😉

But yes, he was good that season, especially so as he was at centre back.

As fans "we" voted Chris Baird better than Gareth Bale, suggests he was rather better than you seem to credit. he was outstanding for us in central defence, converted from a LB, had the leap of a salmon.

I voted for Prowsey who has been immense this season not just for goals and assists but the fact he is a machine and is a proper captain and leader. KWP would be second for me as he's been absolutely brilliant this season at both fullback positions. He got a thoroughly deserved call up to the England squad too. Young player of the season would be Tino for me :)

On the topic of Baird, he's a scout at the club now, if you didn't know.

As for POTS. A toss up between the WPs. JWP being the top scorer from a deep central midfield position is obviously impressive and his world class free-kicks saving us on occasion. Only criticism would be that our midfield has been overrun at times, but I think that's sometimes down to the tactics, leaving the central midfield vulnerable and outnumbered. Whereas, I can't remember KWP having a bad game this season. His form has remained at a good level throughout the good run and our current bad run.

Either one are deserved and clear winners for this season.

KWP...JWP...Tino. The 3 most consistent and hard working of the team.

Tino hasn't been consistent at all. At times he's been pretty awful.

Wihout doubt for me it's KWP. He has been committed, brave and skilled all season.

Rarely gets injured, never feigns injury, doesn't seem to mouth off to officials, team mates etc. Just gets on with it and I think gives his all whether playing at RB or LB.  I think we all know some payers who would have gone into a big sulk for being messed around and playing out of position.

He seems a good honest likeable young guy too and the great worry for me now is whether we can keep hold of him this summer. Tells you alot about experts in football doesn't it that the " Special One " when manager at Spurs did not see his potential.

The only other 2 runners in the field for me are Romeu and our captain Ward-Prowse. Both great professionals who have been superb for most of the season. But KWP gets my vote.

After KWP and JWP all the others have the potential to be 'pretty awful'. In my view Tino has been the best of the rest.

I don't think he's ever been awful. It's just that at times, he's been so incredible that his lesser 'average' games just seem poor. His worst game for us was a solid 6/10 IMO

Remember him blasting in a free kick against Cardiff (?) at home. Went on to have a decent career after he left us as well.

Sounds like 'clubman of the year' qualities as opposed to player of year

As good as Prowsey has been, it has to be KWP for me. He is so consistently good and seemingly just as comfortable at LB as RB. Excellent defending and going forward, he's been our best signing for a few years.

No, I did perfectly understand that my vote for KWP is for " player of the year "

I clearly put in my first post that he has been " commited, brave and skilled all season "

And in my opinion, he has shown those qualities more than any other player in a Saints shirt.

Now added to his playing excellence on the pitch , I also added that.....in my opinion again.....he seems a good young lad who tries his darndest and just gets on with it without moaning or griping. Important qualities to me.

Hope that has clarified things for you

1. Baird. Versatile, consistent and unsung. Key stats for player of the season.

2. JWP. Capable of digging us out with set pieces, and key passes.

3. KWP. Attacking flair that's galvanised  the rest of the team.

4. Romeu. We generally fall apart when he's not there/ not 100%

5. Forster. Recaptured early form, saving us from dodgy defending.
