You really are a card. Go find the evidence that I loved it when Twitter banned Trump. You call other people loons but you make stuff up and then rail against it. I barely looked at Twitter and even less at X so I couldn’t give a monkeys about Trump being banned. In his case it is better than his rankings do get a wide audience because more people can see how deranged he is.

For someone who says he doesn’t support Trump you spend an awful lot of time defending him.

Calling others loony lefties does not detract from you being a blinkered conspiracy theorist nic. Little wonder that you spend so much time defending one of the worlds most prolific conspiracy theorists.

With freedom of speech comes responsibility. If you think that either Trump or Musk use freedom of speech responsibly  that also comes as no surprise.

By the way, if you don’t like being called mental perhaps it isn’t wise to call others loons.

Once again your lack of intelligence and reading skills makes you look the fool you are. I did not defend anyone, i merely stated quite factually and correctly that Trump was de-platformed by order of political powers and Twitter execs allowed it. Musk took it over in part for this reason, as he wants it to be a platform where people can share their views and not be scared of lefty loons like your men, banning them for liking someone who opposes them. Is the defending Trump? No. It is stating a pertinent fact. Learn to read and understand, then you would not be caught out so much.

I don’t know where to start with this nic. You have a pop at “lefty loons” as you call them but have absolutely no problem with right wing nut jobs??

You seem to have convinced yourself that the election was stolen from Trump. The only people I am aware of who believe that nonsense are the MAGA crowd. You claim that you don’t take sides yet you take Trump’s side all the time. You even accused me today of siding with Biden over his son’s pardon when I did the opposite. You have the temerity to call people who don’t agree with fools and loonies but get upset when people say the same to you ( it makes you a hypocrite by the way).

You are clearly biased on the side of the Trump’s and Musk’s of this world. Just man up and admit it. Have the courage of your convictions. I know you can do it 😉

(if you are right about Musk, why are people leaving X in their millions rather than flocking to this new bastion of free speech?)

No response, just another pointless laughing emoji. Come on nic. Do you believe that platforms for free speech should be used to spread lies and propaganda? Ok with that?

I don’t go on twitter but wasn’t Trump banned for spreading misinformation and inciting violence?

It’s important to have free speech but there should always be limits. I’m sure there are plenty of other right wingers who have used the same social media platforms for years without getting banned.

Do you believe that Trump won the previous election? Trump has been called a fascist by someone who worked for him. Do you think Trump is a fascist?

If I am a fascist why do I not support Trump?

DofGE is advertising on X for applicants to join it. They can expect 80+ hour working weeks, doing "tedious" and *unglamorous" tasks, and expect zero remuneration. They can also expect to make "lots" of enemies.
 Should be a popular gig.

Musk also reckons he can cut a third off the Federal budget. Seeing that two-thirds of it are mandatory, that means all optional and discretionary spending would go.

The last time they tried this was under Reagan, when his review commission made over 2500 recommendations, almost all of which were ignored.

You did not answer my question as ever. And you see this is where you go wrong and where u again show you are fascist in your thinking. Anyone who supports trump is a fascist as he is. You don't simply accept other people's opinions. If they disagree with you, you hate them and call them names. You are by very definition, fascist.

I am agreeing with someone who worked closely with him and called him a fascist. How does that make me a fascist? Isn’t it responsible to assume that anyone who supports Trumps views supports a fascist? You see that is where you go wrong. You don’t substantiate your claims with any factual evidence and you, somehow, look at facts and come up with completely illogical conclusions.

Your thoughts on this please.

No. Once again that is where you go wrong. You are so naive as to believe that this person who worked with trump really said that. And if he did say it, perhaps it was not true and he said it out of bitterness.

But once again, and as you always do, you take it as gospel, as nailed on true, but it fits in with your belief and opinions.

That is where you go wrong.

38 Republicans in the House of Representatives voted against the Trump/Musk alternative budget, so it failed disastrously.

Any other threads you'd like to post this information on?

I'm not sure it's relevant to any others  but it can go on the New Manager thread if you wish.

It was a much better bill than the first one. American politics is weird where you can get everyone to vote at the last minute without reading a bill and then just stick in a load of stuff underneath the headline entirely unrelated to the original intent of the bill.

Porkbarrelling is the phrase used in US politics for that practice IIRC, been going on for donkey’s years.

Yes I know of the practice a bit. Given that that's the exact thing Musk and Trump are trying to get rid of with the DOGE thing, you can see why they'd want it voted down.

Lots of legislative practice eg will vote for it but subject to building a water treatment works in my state. Will be hard to stamp out entirely in their system.

Mind you, the Federal Government retaliated with Unconstructed Mandates eg you must build X or provide Y in your states and localities with no additional funds.

Not ideal to be advocating for extremists in a major international partner like Germany and interfering in a delicate domestic situation https://www.theguardian.com/world/2024/dec/20/elon-musk-claims-only-afd-can-save-germany

Not making friends amongst UK Tesla buyers either https://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2024/12/19/tesla-sales-crash-drivers-snub-trump-supporter-elon-musk/

This could go the way of Boris-Cummings quite quickly, Trump is even less content to share political spotlight than Boris was https://newrepublic.com/post/189580/trump-reaction-pissed-elon-musk-spending-bill

Trump might be cutting him loose not long after inauguration and Musk is x10 more dangerous than Cummings was to Boris. Although Elon is the out of control shopping trolley to use Cummings famous analogy rather than Trump.

I mean you have to be a colossal cunt to buy a Tesla anyway. After the Trump love fest I’d say only complete utter cunts who want everyone to see them as that would buy one. That’s what I told the missus when she asked if I’d thought about upgrading her Fiat

I’d stick with the Fiat!

Still remember the ‘built by robots advert’ in the 1980s. Hopefully they don’t rot like they used to.

If Steven King had been in Threads, his books would be a lot grimmer.

CBA finding some random person who agrees/disagrees with someone/something in place of having an opinion of my own.

Digressing a bit. I would love an Elon Musk type businessman to carry out a thorough assessment of the NHS from top to bottom. I worked for them for 17 years and the waste of money is appalling. We don't need to keep throwing money at it but we do need to make sure the NHS gets full value for the money it spends. Billions could be saved if this was done.

I would also like a proper businessman or woman to carry out a thorough assessment of the NHS from top to bottom - but I wouldn't want someone like Elon Musk anywhere near it.

His lack of judgement has lost him tens and possibly hundreds of billions of pounds in recent years, he's just a Poundland Bond villain chancer who made a killing on someone else's skills and now wants to be a presidential puppet master.

Let's get a proper business person in to look at it.

“a poundland villain chancer”

Musk is the richest man in the world, a businessman and entrepreneur who has run businesses for over 30 years and is now CEO of some of the worlds biggest companies, yet you’d rather a proper businessman got involved?

You might not like him but don’t talk bollocks
