Doubling down on what? He clearly has a belief that Robinson is being unjustly persecuted for talking about the government and about rape gangs. Musk is wrong but he obviously considers it a good way to continue his beef with Labour who he obviously dislikes.

I’m sure that’s where he is aiming but it’s going to embarass Farage more. Farage wants to get as far away from Robinson as possible. Might suit him to create a crack in Nigel and Donald’s friendship.

If Musk views Robinson as some sort of victim of the government then from his perspective Farage is throwing him to the wolves by effectively abandoning him so he's probably annoyed about it. There was some speculation that Musk would support the Tories which I think would be crap for everyone. No one centre right and further right wants the Tories in power at the moment because they are proven failures, If it is true that he's getting intel from Cummings then he's only going to get a slanted view on how things are.

Racist Dogs: Why Do Some Dogs Seem Not To Like Dark Skinned People? | HuffPost Videos

This is certainly the case for cats, and probably dogs, but they have a different vision palate to humans. Plus animals can react differently to people of a different size - some dogs like big, burly blokes, others would see it as a threat if their owner was smaller build.

Imagine how stupid Musk would have to be to make that gesture and not think it would be taken as a far right dog whistle.

Is he that stupid?

Tsk. You think of yourself as a fairly strong minded, objective person not prone to bandwagon jumping. One cat pic and suddenly you're at the army recruitment office insisting there is a Kitler army, and you must be allowed to join.

The Clapton comments kick started the whole Rock Against Racism movement in the late 70s/early 80s. Gig at Birmingham of all places as well wasnt it?

It was.

He also went on to work with various minority musicians from black artists  BB King, Tina Turner, to native American Robbie Robertson. He also runs the Crossroads Festival raising money for Crossroads Centre, Antigua. Nowadays he’d be cancelled and clowns like soggy would be grouping him with Katie Hopkins, Tommy Robinson & Elon Musk.

Yeah, he’s really repudiated the mid-70’s racist stuff and admitted he wasn’t in a great place. People should be allowed to change as they get older. Dried out around 1982. Had some serious stuff to deal with as well - guitarist electrocuting himself (happened in the 1970s when guitars and mikes weren’t always properly earthed) and his son’s tragic accidental death in NYC. Still supporting fox hunting and more right wing than not but he’s also been strongly critical of Israel and supportive of the Palestinians so he’s got a variety of different views.

Quite clear and obvious to me that this was an action of a man said to be autistic, not being able to properly show his feelings and getting carried away is showing his heart. He was clearly not doing a nazi salute, but rather a messed up throwing out of his heart to the crowd. Anyone who truly believe he is a nazi and was doing the salute in earnest needs to seek help at the soonest possible opportunity. Just because libtards and MSM say it, does not make it true. He is just unable to express himself hence he looks slightly awkward when doing it as he does not know how to show his feelings. Of course the usual suspects on here will not accept this and will carry on believing he and Trump will cause WW3 just as they believed in 2016. Very very sad people, totally unable to see the truth of things.

It was a Nazi salute. Whether he knew that it was is open to debate but his outstretched hand was not with an open palm but unequivocally palm down.

I very much doubt he looked into the technicalities of what direction his palm should be facing.

I dont think it was. The guys a bit of bellend, he's also a South African born guy living in the US, apparently autistic and also the richest man in the world. I very much doubt he would have as much knowledge about what happened in Europe during the 1930s and 40s as we do. He was also clearly pumped up from the occasion so all factoring all those things in i think he's done something off the cuff which has offended millions of Europeans and Jews but do i think he's gone on stage and given a Nazi salute? No i dont. It might have looked one but i dont think he had any idea what he was doing just in the moment made a hand gesture that looked like one, not actually one.

It staggers me that there's still debate about this. It was a nazi salute, clear as day.

There's only a debate because some people are insistent that it was a nazi salute and others are insistent it wasn't. If everyone was as pragmatic, balanced and non-judgemental as myself, and not obsessed with being on one side or the other, then the debate wouldn't exist, as per your desire... :)

I'll reword.

It staggers me that anyone would dispute that a blatant nazi salute was a nazi salute.

Totally agree. A little bit like the dear chap below.......it staggers him lol. It staggers me people are not prepared to accept in the excitement of the moment he threw his heart out in such a thoughtless way. Still, at least it has given the libtards something to chew on and get outraged over for a few weeks. Had Starmer of done this, they would be saying exactly what I said, that he was thoughtless and was just expressing his overwhelming happiness. Sadly, they will never see this in a person they hate. They are just too blinkered.

Agree with you. There is a no doubt it looked like a Nazi salute, but that doesn't mean it was one.

I think it’s quite clear he did a gesture which was adopted by Fascists in the 20th century. The Roman Salute means power.

But that, as you say, doesn’t mean he did a “Nazi” variation of the salute - meaning to support or advocate National Socialism. He hardly seig heiled. People linking him to H*tler are going a bit far IMO.

It's not even clear that there was any intention for it to be a salute. Maybe it was but given that he has aspergers supposedly and has a history of awkward looking gestures I don't believe so. It's certainly not the cut and dried fact that some would believe.

He did a salute made famous by the Nazis, twice - that's a fact.

His best move could be to apologise and say it wasn't meant to look like that.

He hasn't apologised, so all we are left with at the moment is his Nazi salute*.

His twitter feed suggests he's finding the outrage about it all rather amusing. I guess this is either the behaviour of someone outing themselves accidently as a Nazi or someone who doesn't need validation of a load of handwringing weirdos desperate to be seen offended over a 2 x 2 second gesture which didn't really mean anything.

Yeah, but if that person is a powerful lunatic trying to disrupt politics in your country for his own gain, then you might want at least to keep an eye on it.

Hitler and his cronies never referred to themselves as "Nazi" as the term is a Bavarian colloquial insult for a thick peasant farmer. The term came into use to describe his regime amongst Germans exiled by his rise to power.
