Does Ralph freshen it up or does stay with the same dross from the Burnley game?

I personally want to put a couple of promising youth players in but he won't do that as he's scared we will lose heavily.

Romeu, Armstrong and Elyounoussi need a rest while Adams and Redmond did enough second half to start the match.

                        Forster

KWP   Salisu   Lyanco/Stephens   Perraud

Livramento  JWP  Diallo   Redmond

                 Tella   Adams

Subs: Valery, Bednarek, A Armstrong Broja, Romeu, Willy and a Youngster

Yep, that’s good. Play 442 but maybe Tella on the right and try AA again.

Both Stu and Ely need dropping.

If Broja is not staying then it’s pointless playing him.

For me; back to 4222, play on the front foot, aggressive high press.
Salisu, Adams and Redmond must start.,

Forster; KWP Lyanco Sali Perraud; Romeu JWP; Armstrong Redmond; Adams Broja

Brojas last chance to look arsed before I’d drop him. Been useless for months, but got no one else.

Back to basics.

Forster

Tino Bednarek Salisu KWP

Armstrong JWP Romeu Redmond

Armstrong Adams.

Harsh on Perraud but that's what I'd like to see. No more Valery who yesterday managed a 40 yard run to nowhere, at least two air kicks and was beaten to headers for most of the night. I've not seen much of Lyanco before and his passing seems OK but I wasn't thoroughly convinced - I'd like to see more of him but Bednarek and Salisu is our strongest CB pairing right now as Stephens seems completely out of favour.

Brighton, Palace, Brenford and Leicester left - all teams we are fighting for places/top half/money with (and who could be as equally on the beach as we seem to be), and Liverpool who will probably smash us in their quest for world domination.

Agree with nearly all that but you could change Bendarek/Salisu for Stephens/Lyanco,  and I contend not notice much difference.

Same in other positions, there lies our problem. Those who are auto selections, all play in the same position!

Broja should be used as a sub. He'll go back to Chelsea so we best use our own resources and plan for next year.

Perhaps Smallbone for Romeu.

The fact that I am hoping for a draw against Brighton is tragic.

I’d be tempted to stick with the back 3 but go to a 3412, with Armstrong in a natural ‘10’ position.

Forster

Bednerak

Luanco

Salisu

KWP

JWP

Romeu

Perrud

Armstrong (toss up between him and Moi)

Adams

Broja

I would take a draw at this point. Very concerning the teams around us we've dropped points to this side of Christmas: Newcastle, Watford, Burnley, Aston Villa.
Now with Brighton, Brentford and Crystal Palace's upturn in form I see us finishing 16th. Maybe five points from the relegation zone if we're lucky.

As someone above posted, back to basics for this game:

Forster;
KWP, Stephens, Salisu, Perraud;
Redmond, JWP, Romeu, S. Armstrong;
Adams, A. Armstrong

Bring Salisu back in after his couple of weeks "reflection" of bad performances. Bednarek and Lyanco have both shown they aren't up to it, Bednarek especially, I am sick to death of his attitude and inept ability. Redmond is more creative than Ely. Broja has been poor for weeks now - HE IS NOT OUR PLAYER, he will go back to Chelsea at the end of the season and he won't be coming here again. Time to put some faith in A. Armstrong and give him a run.

After last nights game I'll still be "Ralph In" but my word he is treading a fine line. This is close to being his squad now. His players. His tactics.

He needs a strong finish, anything lower than where we finished last season will raise some serious questions.

Go 4-3-3, get an extra body in the middle of the pitch.

That should have been the formation last night. We didn't need 3 central defenders, and Burnley were just playing through our midfield too easily.

I'd love to play an old-fashioned 4231 however it just won't happen.

I'd be happy to put out the WHU FA Cup team now, basically done with this season so let's see what the fringe players are capable of.

Get Djenepo, Walcott, Tella, Stephens, Diallo, Adam Armstrong in perhaps... part of having a big squad is to keep first team players on their toes but right now if we play the same team we are rewarding mediocrity.

Also make it a last chance saloon to offer any 2023 expirees a contract. I wouldn't offer all of them a new one, but only a few and attempt to sell the rest.

I am going to predict a 1-1 though.

Need to be brave and push the back line up again - they were far too deep Vs Burnley giving out midfield too much to do. Of the back 3 Bednerak was least incompetent so he keeps his place.

forster

kwp. Bednerak. Salisu. Perraud

armstrong. Rom. Jwp.  Redders

                  Adams. Armstrong

And give minutes to Diallo, Tella and Tino as 1st choice subs.

Hopefully we can Nick a 1-0, you never know what you’ll get with our lot !

Need to play players who have something to prove.  Slim pickings I know but likes of bednarek, broja, Armstrong, romeu and elynoussi need to be dropped. Arma certainly has a point to prove but I have doubts he can cut it at this level. Redmond maybe going through a contract dispute or something but I would play him. Tella needs to kick on with his career he's not a breakthrough player anymore. Salisu hopefully benefited from being dropped to clear his head. Diallo is a good player and deserves more game time but I don't think him and jwp particularly compliment each other very well so Diallo is going to be the fall guy in that scenario in Ralph's eyes.

Either way these gutless performances are embarrassing the club and fans so needs sorting out.

This game will suit us better than Burnley, as we won't be bullied or outdone physically.

Two very evenly matched teams in my opinion, try and do things the right way and have some decent quality in 1 or 2 places, but neither have enough depth or quality in critical positions and it shows come the end of the season after any initial promise.

I assume pre-match Ralph will tell us we can "expect a reaction" but "it's not so easy in the Premier League" and we need to go back to basics and become "a nasty opponent" again? And then a team who finds it hard to score goals will roll us over 3 or 4 nil? I live near Brighton so this is a 'must not lose' for the sake of my earholes but I'm not convinced we will be bothered enough to break sweat to do that. As always, though, I live in hope no matter how faint that hope may be...

Two pretty bad teams at the moment with a random win against Arsenal thrown in there.

Forster

Tino/Perraud - Bednarek/Lyanco - Salisu - KWP

Romeu - JWP

Moi/Stu - Redmond

Che - AA/Broja

Couldn't really care too much about who he plays out of the toss-ups, just don't want to see 1 striker and both of Elyounoussi/Armstrong playing again.

Have we won any games this season with less than 6 days rest between Premier League fixtures?  I don't think we have and appear to have played 11 ish.

That's a good point and definitely true that the second game in quick succession is often our nemesis. We outplayed them at ours with a 442 so would be odd (particularly after Thursday's ineptitude) if we don't revert to that. I'd go FF - Livramento Bednarek Salisu KWP - Armstrong JWP Oriel Redmond - Che Broja.

In the heady days in February when we did so well we had a settled team in 442 formation.

Forster

Walker Peters / Tino,  Benarek,  Salisu, Perraud/Walker Peters

S Armstrong, Ward Prowse Romeu Mo

Adams, Broja

Trouble is some (all?) of the players have collectively gone off the boil starting with the Aston Villa match. It was obviously a successful and preferred set up just need to get the players firing again, some how.

They're on the beach after being as good as safe, which seems to be our aim these days. Maybe a contract change that states if anyone performs less than a 6 out of 10 they pay their week's salary back. Or something. Meh I'm on the red wine.

Haha good luck trying to get anyone to sign!

Imagine if that applied to our politicians or the general workplace…

They have one of the worst home records in the league but then again so do Burnley....

I can't think of any other away grounds where we have a record as good as it is as the AMEX , I must have seen us win there 5 times maybe more , gives us hope

Has to be 4-2-2-2 and IMO this is our best team in that shape:

-------------Forster------------

Tino--Bednarek--Salisu--KWP

--------JWP------Romeu------

Stu---------------------Redmond

--------Broja------Adams-------

Personally am amazed how many would pick Lyanco. I know Bednarek has dipped in form for a while but away from home he is still miles more reliable than Lyanco who looks a very jurys out signing to me.

From this lineup only Perraud (very) and Moi (slightly) are unlucky to miss out.

We need a big reaction after last night's disappointment. I would like to think Ralph will make a few changes both to the starting formation and personal. We need to get back to basics. My team is as follows:

Forster

KWP  Stephens  Salisu  Perraud

S. Armstrong JWP Romeu  Redmond

Adams  A. Armstrong

This is down to the manager not being a good enough motivator. Or particularly good at tactics, reacting to in game scenarios, flexible, and generally playing players out of position or mysteriously favouring some over others.  Ask ally we need a better one

They best bloody well win the players and the manager owe us better than that shit sandwich that was served Thursday night! Another repeat performance and Ralph can clear his desk..... Along with the dead wood players, Don't think It will happen though he seems to have a permanent free pass card with our owner and board
