Actually they did stay and applaud the champions as the squad was just outside the second video.

On the first video they were on the far left side talking to fans and family.

Saints picked up the trophy some 15 minutes after the game and the Pompey squad were still on the pitch.

Pretty respectful indeed!

Especially when you look at the bottom of the Championship above - Coventry United will almost certainly be relegated as they are 5 points adrift with 2 games to play (having been deducted 10 points for the financial issues they had just before Christmas), but Watford above them have only won 2 games all season yet will stay up.

Do they even have a rivalry? I mean, the men's teams obviously do, but are the women even the slightest bit bothered about it?

I'm sure there's a degree of good natured rivalry. I'm involved with a team the other side of Portsmouth where there are no other Saints supporters but quite a few go to Portsmouth games and I get a bit of ribbing, but it's all good natured. I'll probably turn up to our next training session with a Saints shirt on and a big grin, just to get them going. 🙂

Think the rivalry is there on all levels whether you like football or not. I work just outside Fareham and even people that aren't interested in football at the office hate Southampton,if they come from the PO zone.

To be fair, 99% of the population aren’t in the slightest bit bothered about women’s football. 
 

Im sure if people were, then they would have a rivalry, as such.

I think that's a very out of date view.  Sure it's a minority sport, particularly compared to the men's game, but your % seems overstated.

St Mary’s is the 3rd largest stadium in the competition. They’ve got games at training / academy grounds ffs. 
 

The peak of women’s football in Europe, that says all you need to know about the interest in women’s football.

Both of Iceland's games at the Manchester City Academy ground have sold out, but that's the FA for you. The FA banned women from playing at FA affiliated grounds within my lifetime up to the 1970s..

You’re not wrong about the FA, though I think in the case of the choice of stadiums for Euro 2022 that UEFA were likely the driving force. It seems as if the goal on choosing the stadiums was to have a range of stadia from under 10k right up to Wembley, I’ve heard talk that that was the criteria in choosing stadiums, to have opens in various ranges (2 up to 10k, 2 at 10k to 20k, others from 20k to 35k, then upwards to Old Trafford and Wembley.

I think they’ve underestimated it somewhat. But, saying that, it’s much better to have a 4700 capacity stadium full up than to have 10k inside a 20k stadium IMO.

Tough call to make, and with games sold out already, perhaps the wrong choices made, it already looks like this tournament will absolutely shatter all previous tournament attendance records.

I get the point Sue, but would those games attracted significantly bigger crowds at a bigger stadium? There's a lot to be said for the atmosphere of a packed full small stadium rather than a small crowd in a big stadium.
