HarvSFC Posted 15 April, 2022 Posted 15 April, 2022 Dyche was their survival card. That's them gone ffs, they had one job.
S-Clarke Posted 15 April, 2022 Posted 15 April, 2022 (edited) The owners are obviously putting everything on the hope of a 'new manager bounce'. Not sure this is going to make much difference tbh. If anything they have less chance now in my eyes, lucky days for Everton. Edited 15 April, 2022 by S-Clarke 1
beatlesaint Posted 15 April, 2022 Posted 15 April, 2022 With 8 games left? That’s bizarre. Player power maybe?

They looked a shadow of the team that beat Everton when they played Norwich. Really thought after that win the momentum was going to be with them. Not really sure who out there that they will turn too. Not Big Sam, surely?
TWar Posted 15 April, 2022 Posted 15 April, 2022 Dreadful decision. He's one of the best managers in the league for constant overperformance of spending.
CB Fry Posted 15 April, 2022 Posted 15 April, 2022 Massive news for the "we are always the first opponents for a team with a new manager" brigade. It's always us. Always always always. 2
SW5 SAINT Posted 15 April, 2022 Posted 15 April, 2022 They must have big Sam or something lined up. Perhaps he will take charge at wham on Saturday rather than us next Thursday…….😬
Sarnia Cherie Posted 15 April, 2022 Posted 15 April, 2022 The cut throat world of PL managers. 10 years Dyche has been at Burnley with never much, if any, money to spend to strengthen a small and mediocre squad. Many managers would have jumped ship years ago but Dyche has stuck at it, keeping Burnley in the PL by the skin of his teeth and this is the thanks he gets. Taxi for Big Sam!!
Dr Who? Posted 15 April, 2022 Posted 15 April, 2022 Now watch Burnley drift off into nowhere land. Expectations!

Yep we are just above this and banging on about our manager, who is pretty much doing things the right way with very little money. Our style of football is the correct way and nice on the eye. 2
Colinjb Posted 15 April, 2022 Posted 15 April, 2022 There must have a been a falling out, the only way I can make sense of that. 2
LiberalCommunist Posted 15 April, 2022 Posted 15 April, 2022 Utterly bewildering decision. Especially because they have two very winnable games in the next seven days.
Micky Posted 15 April, 2022 Posted 15 April, 2022 (edited) Simon Jordan already lining him up to replace Ralph at Saints...! Edited 15 April, 2022 by Micky 1 4
Uncle Albert Posted 15 April, 2022 Posted 15 April, 2022 Utterly stupid decision on the face of it, so shortsighted. I’m going to miss those soothing tones that could only come from years of chewing on gravel and washing it down with a pint of special brew.
Jimmy_D Posted 15 April, 2022 Posted 15 April, 2022 Seems like a very short sighted decision, feels like this probably reduces their chances of staying up.
FarehamSaintJames Posted 15 April, 2022 Posted 15 April, 2022 Simon Jordan does talk utter shit though. He’s up there with Paul Merson as one of the worst pundits out there. Burnley clearly banking on the new manager bounce, can’t see it myself. Would find it quite funny though if they got Rafa in until the end of the season and he kept them up relegating Everton in the process 😂 3
cloggy saint Posted 15 April, 2022 Posted 15 April, 2022 Apparently it wasn't a sacking, just a special football operation. 1 11

Gambling on the new manager bounce, I guess. Two wins could be all they need - Everton aren't picking up many more points.
John Boy Saint Posted 15 April, 2022 Posted 15 April, 2022 I think pretty much everyone outside the Burnley boardroom thinks that this is insanity. His football might be a bit industrial but I know who I would like alongside me in a fight. Lampard will probably sleep better tonight.

Kenilworthy Posted 15 April, 2022 Posted 15 April, 2022 That puts Ralph quite high up the list of longest serving PL managers - possibly 3rd after Klopp and Guardiola?

kwsaint Posted 15 April, 2022 Posted 15 April, 2022 Madness. Thats them gone. Burnley are in big trouble as the new owners saddled them with loads of debt as part of the takeover.

rooney Posted 15 April, 2022 Posted 15 April, 2022 He should get another job soon with someone who can appreciate him.

Suhari Posted 15 April, 2022 Posted 15 April, 2022 That is serious mental. Who do they get to try and keep them up? Surely it's too late for the Fat Sam Siren! That club is fucked.

Watford old boy with Malay McKay, closer to home for him. However, given how long he’s been in the Prem for, he may be looking for a step up. Watford are always going to struggle to stay up, so it’s like for like really. IMO he’d have been decent for Everton, but Lampard got that and despite doing a poor job he won’t get ousted from that just yet. There’s not really any other stand out Premier League clubs that would go for him. So, it’s either go for a job in the summer, or wait until the inevitable round of Premier League sackings next season and hope for something from that.

HarvSFC Posted 15 April, 2022 Posted 15 April, 2022 Dyche was the original sackee by the Pozzos at Watford, replaced by Zola. As the old saying goes, you're never more than six feet away from a former Watford manager and they did reappoint Sanchez Flores, so they could do it again, I suppose.

The Cat Posted 15 April, 2022 Posted 15 April, 2022 Why would anyone want to manage Watford? They are one of the most mental clubs in the top 4 divisions. Even managers who are doing well get kicked out.

I was thinking this, and I can only imagine they build in some fairly high achievement benchmarks to the management contracts that allow them to get rid without paying out contracts in full. If not, half their revenues must disappear on payoffs.
