How the hell have Saints let them back into this?

tbf I’d say 1-1 is probably just about a fair result. Maybe we edge it for the Broja chance and Adams was unlucky with his effort against the bar but Newcastle have been in the game themselves.

We have controlled possession and worked the ball really well to get players to the byeline countless times, but all crosses cut out due to number of defenders. We've looked pretty good. Not a lot of room to play in the final third.

They look dangerous on the break and could have gone ahead.

Could go either way this.

Now I’m not going to give Fraser too much grief, but that cross comes a long way and he’s heading it in from 6 yards out. Surely Forster could come for that?

Surely you are having a laugh

the only way they can score from that situation is if Salisu lets wood have an uninterrupted run and jump at the ball, and that’s exactly what he did, if Salisu was tighter on wood there is no threat at all.

I'm feeling pretty confident. We look so much better than last time out.

Yeah agree.  Newcastle started well but as soon as we got the goal we have looked like the better team despite conceding.

Agree. Ball too fast for Forster to come off his line. I think Salisu makes a slight wrong move towards the ball (just before the cross) and is then a fraction out of position and done for. Not enough pressure on Shelvey from Romeu too.

We play some really good stuff. Broja a bit anonymous for me.

not a great half by his standards. A couple of mis controls when trying to hold the ball up. Might have scored if he had managed to bring an all be it tough ball down. Pretty quite too. He needs some space to run into.

So far looking like a typical Saints game of old. Loads of pretty possession. Some good chances gone begging. Then let a lanky ageing No9 score. I'm predicting 1-3.

I was going to say surely not, but then remembered I'm not confident enough about us to quote you in case it comes back to haunt me...ah, heck...🙂

It was a well-worked goal. Basically, big centre forwards scoring headed goals from long crosses and corners against us is a recurrent theme and Newcastle would have highlighted that in their planning for this game. We are a good team but our weakest link is still in the centre of our defence.
