Our team is mentally fragile, we've known that for years. The Villa result wasn't just bad, it was a thrashing and could easily have been worse.

Today has the potential to be a very bad result too. Hopefully we can show we've learned from the past.

That's an out of date view in my opinion.  I think we've toughened up a lot recently mentally and I'm expecting a reaction tonight.

I think the thing about our style is that when it's not working for us we look vulnerable - we've had 3 defeats this season where it just hasn't worked at all (Liverpool, Arsenal, Villa), all with very similar results.  Everything else has been either excellent, good, or at least ok in spells.

What has been noticeable this season is that if we've gone a goal down (like at Spurs and in the FA cup game against Coventry) we don't let our heads go down and keep looking for solutions to the problem. That's a better mindset than we've had in other seasons where we would capitulate. Villa were simply too good for us last week against a weakened defence - we're not top 4 material and it happens sometimes. Some teams just figure us out better than others.

Tonight will be a challenge but if our boys are up for it, we can beat them. Two hours left of work and I can get the hell out of here and think about getting my butt down to Southampton.

For those in the know - I usually park at Eastgate but my mate wants to go to Brewdog after the game - is the closest car park Grosvenor Square MSCP?

No there’s a small multi storey at Bedford Place which is spitting distance from Brewdog. Or a street level car park opposite The Bedford pub which always seems to have space when I walk by. Grosvenor square would only be a 5 min walk though, if that

We needed to come back down to earth, but if ever there was a team I wanted to beat desperately this season, after their oil money takeover; and postponing of the first fixture due to a few injuries to their star players - I hope we absolutely batter Newcastle

5-1.

As above 😂

I think 2-2, goals for both sides, leaky defences and scrappy tackles.

Can’t see us winning after their January windfall of signings.

Thanks. I was aiming for Bedford Place but saw a few police cars up ahead so veered into Ordnance Road. Turns out a van crashed into the front of an estate agent.

Hopefully we can really put one over them tonight after what happened in January. With our impressive home form this season, I'm going for a 2-0 victory for us tonight with Stuart Armstrong and Broja scoring - COYR :)

Is she as attractive in person as she is in the paper?

Used to be a model.  At 48, would probably have looked alright if she hadn't had all the "work done".

Anyways, Salisu fit enough to start would be a big lift.

Saint Maximin likely to be benched if rumours true, so we should expect a 65 minute appearance as per the Brighton game.

A very average side there

Doesn't Chris Wood have an unfortunate knack of scoring against us despite seeming to be crap the rest of the time ?

And Shelvey as well for that matter.

Plus I don’t think he’s netted yet for Newcastle, Saints are the team strikers out of form love playing against.

Salisu back - probably our strongest lineup 👍

Agree, about as good as we can get - Redmond vs Moj can be debated but they are about equivalent

Gonna be tough tonight, Newcastle are on a roll and have a smart manager - hopefully we've licked our wounds from the weekend and are raring to push, press and punish them.  Should be a cracking atmosphere... COYR

Very happy with our team, outstanding.

And pretty happy with theirs.

And if it doesn't go to plan, they have three new signings that wouldn't have played 2/1/22 so my excuses are sorted!

Tink. We got this. Up the Saints
