LuckyNumber7 Posted 3 March, 2022 Posted 3 March, 2022 If you want to win it you have to beat the top sides at some point, main thing is we're at home. Confident, on form and hopefully with SMS rocking let's give it a go, nothing to lose! 5
StDunko Posted 3 March, 2022 Posted 3 March, 2022 If we're going to win the cup we'd probably have to beat them so prefer to face them at St Mary's than away or at Wembley... Hope they play a weakened side, that does not play like a RH weakened side... 1

saint lard Posted 3 March, 2022 Posted 3 March, 2022 I’m quietly confident with City at home. much rather meet them at home than at a neutral ground such as Wembley.

Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 3 March, 2022 Posted 3 March, 2022 Home draw. Playing well. Toughest draw we could get but, nonetheless, bring it on!

RedArmy Posted 3 March, 2022 Posted 3 March, 2022 The 3 big teams all avoided each other. How shocking 5

They want all of those 4 clubs at Wembley. The refs will make sure that happens too, I have little doubt. 1

If we managed to pull of the unexpected, that leaves us needing to beat Liverpool and Chelsea in the semi and final.

Viking Saint Posted 3 March, 2022 Posted 3 March, 2022 To be honest, I feel we can beat anyone the way we're playing atm. Tails up, packed house support, expectation is on them so nothing to lose. Let's get stuck into them. 2
bpsaint Posted 3 March, 2022 Posted 3 March, 2022 Bring it on. Seriously let’s have it, it’s the FA Cup, anything can happen. We’ve got to face the big boys at some point - I’d rather do it at home in the quarters then suffer the heartbreak at Wembley again. 5

stknowle Posted 3 March, 2022 Posted 3 March, 2022 Home is good. Man City ain't. All of the big teams - well fuck me - avoiding each other yet again ain't. 1
CanadaSaint Posted 3 March, 2022 Posted 3 March, 2022 The way we’ve been playing - and not against crap teams, I think we can suspend our inferiority complex for a while. For 3-D perspective, I don’t think Pep will be resting many of his starters.

Dr Who? Posted 3 March, 2022 Posted 3 March, 2022 After we dispatch Man City I fancy Palace in the Semi Final or maybe even Everton for a bit of revenge for 84. In the final Chelsea or Liverpool. Drink it in, and enjoy the tie! 😊 2

ecurnew02 Posted 3 March, 2022 Posted 3 March, 2022 FWIW, we play a day earlier than them in the league mid-week
beatlesaint Posted 3 March, 2022 Posted 3 March, 2022 Nothing to lose, great home draw as opposed to horrendous away draw. Liverpool away was the one I wanted to avoid more than any other.
Forester Posted 3 March, 2022 Posted 3 March, 2022 Then beat Liverpool in final with last minute own goal from Dick Van Dyck diving header in front of Saints fans….. 2

If we do against the odds get through against City, then let's hope we draw the winners of Palace/Everton! How typical though, all the big teams avoid each other...If I was a conspiracist I'd say they drew it in such a way which gave the 4 intended teams the FA want through the best possible ties. I'm sure the FA will want a Merseyside fixture in Wembley, with a City vs Chelsea "Champions League" repeat as the other game. I'm sure the police would rather that didn't happen, would be around 80,000 Scousers in London!

S-Clarke Posted 3 March, 2022 Posted 3 March, 2022 (edited) We could have been away, so that's the only positive. Generally we needed to avoid City or Liverpool and have them play each other in the earlier rounds, but they're not (Chelsea avoided a tough draw as well). It really hasn't opened up this year, certainly not like last season. Edited 3 March, 2022 by S-Clarke
Saint Garrett Posted 3 March, 2022 Posted 3 March, 2022 Annoying but not surprising that the big 3 sides avoided each other. Might have to beat all 3 to win the trophy…🙄 would have much rather played Huddersfield and then Everton to get to the final! Still, they haven’t beaten us this season, we’re playing well, and hopefully we’ll put out our best side. Should be a cracking atmosphere…Game on…

Jimmy_D Posted 3 March, 2022 Posted 3 March, 2022 At least we’ve taken the last chance to face them at St Mary’s, instead of most likely having to face them at Wembley. Always a long shot but probably not the worst outcome in terms of overall chance of lifting the Cup.

stknowle Posted 3 March, 2022 Posted 3 March, 2022 Wigan beat City a few years back in the final on neutral territory (obviously). We are far better than that Wigan side were (got relegated that very season ffs) and are on home turf. Given these facts it's hard to see anything other that a Saints victory. C'mon!!!
macca155 Posted 3 March, 2022 Posted 3 March, 2022 That draw has really messed things up. As mentioned the route to cup glory means Saints have to beat at least two of City / Chelsea / Liverpool. I'm an optimistic guy but that is stretching it a bit. Playing in the big boys playground now.

saintwbu Posted 3 March, 2022 Posted 3 March, 2022 The main thing is avoiding Chelsea, as it would mean not having Broja. We can beat anyone when we’re at full strength. 2
JRM Posted 3 March, 2022 Posted 3 March, 2022 Home draw is good though, I wonder if the club will revert to the old days of leaving part of the Northam for home fans or just carry on with this nonsense of giving them whole end but leaving 2 blocks (about 1000 seats) as segregation
Sarnia Cherie Posted 3 March, 2022 Posted 3 March, 2022 Man City haven't beaten us in the 2 Prem fixtures this season so I am feeling quietly confident. I would be more concerned if we had been drawn away to Middlesborough. If we want to win a trophy we have to play the top teams. Although last night's selection wasn't so bad in the end I hope Ralph picks our very best for the City game. We may have been able to take time to get our act together against the likes of West Ham last night but I don't think we should push our luck against City.

Badger Posted 3 March, 2022 Posted 3 March, 2022 Initial thought was "bollocks, not the draw wanted..." but have come round to it. City have a vast array of talent, and no immediate flaws, but they can be inconsistent, and we have had the measure of them this season so far. Think it's winnable with our best team playing, so not the game for rotation. This should be our priority fixture now. 2
