Villa could have easily had 4 in that half. Saints with plenty of possession but lacking in ideas. Villa have the freedom of the park whenever they bother to attack.

Haven’t seen us play worse than this since the second half away at everton

 

FF probably the only player who deserves his paycheque so far

 

midfield totally overrun so far to easy for their forwards to find space and pick passes for each other without pressure on the ball

Nobody in yellow had a good first half, only Forster was keeping it at 1-0. They've just been better than us.

Unfortunately after the high of the mid week game it’s not unusual to see a drop in energy and Villa clearly really want to win this one more than we did at the outset.

to attempt to salvage I think a formation change with 3 CB as we need to counteract    The lack of salisu. Elyonoussi off for Valery is my best thought at salvaging something.

How haven't we tested their defence? Their CB pairing is as bad as ours on paper and they've got 36 year old Ashley Young at LB.

Our only idea seems to be trying to nick it round the corner out wide, and it isn't working.

We were always going to have a poor game at some point. Try to salvage this 2nd half but if not, regroup, get it back on track in the next one. We don't want to let this great season end on a bad run.

Bednarek and Stephens getting slaughtered at the back. Bednarek is just not good enough, far too weak and timid for a CB. Really need to upgrade on him in the summer.

Oh well, we were due a poor performance.
