AlexLaw76 Posted 9 February, 2022 Posted 9 February, 2022 Let's not be typical saints here...we deserve something from this game. 1
Chez Posted 9 February, 2022 Posted 9 February, 2022 pen and hw are we not winning. Playing really well. All over them. We do this sometimes against Spurs but just don't seem to kill them off. COYR

The Cat Posted 9 February, 2022 Posted 9 February, 2022 Don't they check everything? Surely the bloke on VAR just said no penalty so they carried on.
Saint Matty 76 Posted 9 February, 2022 Posted 9 February, 2022 I’ll always love Ralph for the way he allows us to do this to teams we have no right to. Lack of finishing the issue yet again, but our football has been brilliant. I do worry we don’t get anything to show for it at full time though. 3
igsey Posted 9 February, 2022 Posted 9 February, 2022 All ready for the usual second half capitulation?
Baird of the land Posted 9 February, 2022 Posted 9 February, 2022 (edited) Bad VAR again. That looked like a handball(penalty) to me, certainly more than a 2 second review that was used. Fantastic performance by saints (just not the finishing/luck to go along with it) Sure we'll be made pay because spurs won't be that bad in the 2nd half. Edited 9 February, 2022 by Baird of the land
The Cat Posted 9 February, 2022 Posted 9 February, 2022 Hojbjerg has been utter garbage. It would have been sweet if that penalty had been given.
BotleySaint Posted 9 February, 2022 Posted 9 February, 2022 Just now, The Cat said: Don't they check everything? Surely the bloke on VAR just said no penalty so they carried on. I can only assume they weren't even checking it because there was such a lack of appeal from our players.
Mr X Posted 9 February, 2022 Posted 9 February, 2022 Going to be a sickener not to take anything from this! there's no way we can keep up thse levels 2nd half
Lighthouse Posted 9 February, 2022 Posted 9 February, 2022 Well, HT. I think we all know how it goes from here. 1 1

NewYorkSaint Posted 9 February, 2022 Author Posted 9 February, 2022 Unbelievably exciting attacking play from Saints. Yes, frustrating we're not ahead. But what a team this has become. Romeu and JWP utterly dominant. Seeing Moi dazzle is a huge bonus. Whatever happens from here, it's cool to be supporting a team capable of such class. The days of Puel are far in the rear view mirror. 2 1
Teddeer Posted 9 February, 2022 Posted 9 February, 2022 We've absolutely murdered them. If it was a boxing match the referee would have stopped it. Should be 3 or 4-1 up. Would have liked to see us shout more for the Hojbjerg handball - where was VAR on that as it looked like a pen. Still, we know what happens now don't we.
bpsaint Posted 9 February, 2022 Posted 9 February, 2022 Battering Spurs in their own back yard but the scoreline tells a different tale. Come of lads don’t let us down keep this level up in the second half and the goals will come.
CB Fry Posted 9 February, 2022 Posted 9 February, 2022 Let's hope we can keep this going. Not a huge amount on the bench unfortunately.
Saints foreva Posted 9 February, 2022 Posted 9 February, 2022 1 minute ago, The Cat said: Don't they check everything? Surely the bloke on VAR just said no penalty so they carried on. It was checked, referee stopped play for the check to complete when the ball went out for a throw. Definitely gets given up the other end. We've played well but have missed some great chances. Conte will get into them at half time and they won't be anywhere near as bad as they were in that first half.

Baird of the land Posted 9 February, 2022 Posted 9 February, 2022 Just now, AlexLaw76 said: It looked it it was checked, the ref briefly stopped the throw in just after Yeah but there's no way that gets a cursory 2 second check if that's one of the title chasing teams.
The Cat Posted 9 February, 2022 Posted 9 February, 2022 They'll need an extra Match of the Day later just for this game.
Suhari Posted 9 February, 2022 Posted 9 February, 2022 Evening. Good match and a superb Saints performance. Should be 3-1 up. Very encouraging.
Disco Stu Posted 9 February, 2022 Posted 9 February, 2022 Great first half performance but haven't capitalised. We all know the script.
JCBSaint Posted 9 February, 2022 Posted 9 February, 2022 How are we not winning!!! Now it will be how spuds change it second half to win …. Please no!!
badgerx16 Posted 9 February, 2022 Posted 9 February, 2022 From the BBC "Handball from Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg?? It's being checked. The ball certainly hits the Dane on the arm, but it looks like he is pulling it away and VAR says nothing wrong with that. Would have been given last season."

Chez Posted 9 February, 2022 Posted 9 February, 2022 Great half. Love watching us when we take it to teams. From front to back we have done well. Loved seeing Forster come off his line to claim a corner, Salisu's weight of pass out wide, the dominance of midfield and the way Broja takes the ball on the outside of his foot while at full sprint. Going to be hard to replicate that in the second half. We can can only get worse and they can only get better, sadly.

Holmes_and_Watson Posted 9 February, 2022 Posted 9 February, 2022 Another cracking first half league performance from us. Lots of chances. Spurs haven't offered much. So fingers crossed that continues and we nick at least one of our opportunities.

OttawaSaint Posted 9 February, 2022 Posted 9 February, 2022 That's absolutely scandalous, handball, all day, week, month long. He literally moved his arm to control the ball. Textbook handball. Not given!?!? I guess I don't understand the laws. Last year, same thing Bertie was pulling his arms behind him and the ball struck his arm after being hit from a few yards away, ~10 mins later Wolves player (Dendonker I think) controlled the ball with his arm. Penalty given against Saints but not Wolves. AM I going crazy or did they change the laws to allow you to control the ball with your forearm? 1
gammon cheeks Posted 9 February, 2022 Posted 9 February, 2022 Playing some fantastic football ....just hope we can keep going and get the win . 1
Mr X Posted 9 February, 2022 Posted 9 February, 2022 We've clearly used everything in the tank in that first half that's the Worry!

LiberalCommunist Posted 9 February, 2022 Posted 9 February, 2022 I feel like I've read this script before. Please have a different ending. 4
qwertyell Posted 9 February, 2022 Posted 9 February, 2022 (edited) Might as well burn off my last post before the inevitable second half disappointment to say we've been terrific - Perraud in particular looks well settled in now and a great outlet going forward. Best of luck everyone. Edited 9 February, 2022 by qwertyell

Sheaf Saint Posted 9 February, 2022 Posted 9 February, 2022 Hoddle predicting Spurs will be better in the second half. Really Glenn?
igsey Posted 9 February, 2022 Posted 9 February, 2022 Expecting to see much faster direct long balls from Spurs second half to get around our press.
Saint_clark Posted 9 February, 2022 Posted 9 February, 2022 Need to stop giving them easy opportunities that fire the crowd up. Keep them quiet except for when they're moaning at their own players.
Saint_clark Posted 9 February, 2022 Posted 9 February, 2022 Forster having a much, much better game tonight. Coming off his line much better.
Mr X Posted 9 February, 2022 Posted 9 February, 2022 Spurs already showing signs of improving this half
