So essentially it looks like we’re getting in an upgrade on Harry Lewis, who market forces dictate was a bottom half of League 2 standard player. I see nothing to be upset about here.

Harry Lewis did not need replacing. You don't need 4 senior keepers, he was surplus to requirements.

I'm not convinced this rumour is true.

That'll raise a debate as to whether French League 2 is a higher standard than English League 2!

Agreed though. A cheap option as a backup, out on loan (presumably with a recall option) and potential sale fee down the line. Seems sensible.

If we’re giving a one year deal to Willy or similar as third choice emergency keeper, it makes perfect sense. We’d never have more then three players actually training and playing here.

I don’t know much about French football but their Ligue 2 is our Championship and Le Harve finished 8th.

Le Havre is also handy for keeping an eye on him, although not quite as handy as when the Portsmouth ferry went there. If this were to go ahead presumably with recall option but then how many games would he play? It's all a bit subjunctive..

Was a good player. Has become a bit stale at Saints. Again, I can't help but think our coaching staff might have something to do with this general seeping away of talent, enthusiasm and zip. When was the last time a player improved with us? I suppose JWP is one. KWP another, but can't think of many more. Anyone?

"Become a bit stale"

"Seeping away of talent, enthusiasm and zip"

Reminds me of some posters on here... Not that the ones I'm thinking of had any discernable talent in the first place...

Fun fact: in 2005-06 season we had eight keepers on the books - Niemi, Bialkowski, Miller, Smith, Blayney, Poke, Andrew MacNeil and Zak Jones.

We've had a bad end to the season but overall, Stuart Armstrong, Salisu, Perraud, Broja, Che have all improved since they joined us

Ben Mee set to leave Burnley as his contract is expiring.

Would be 33 in Sept but good player and strong leader.

Would be all over it if he were 30 but considering he is recovering from a fractured leg too I doubt Saints would be in for him.

Yes please. Experience and leadership - just what we need next to Salisu.

Why do you keep saying this?
Of the 4 keepers we had this year only one is still under contract and at the club. We don’t know what’s happening with Caballero yet do we?

To say this young keeper isn’t the replacement for Lewis is not accurate.

Broja was only here for a season and gradually got worse. Not sure you can count him as a "win" for the coaching department.

The Transfer Window isn't even open for another week or so and already this is the most depressing place to be......so many negative moaners. I am not expecting miracles, but I am hopeful (based on nothing at all) that things will be better this year than last.

I'm hopeful, based on:

- The ex-Brentford guy being involved. Player recruitment and trading there has been exceptional

- The multi-club vision. We don't seem to be in the hands of a 'Burnley style, debt-based no apparent plan or reason' owner.

Of course, they have to deliver, and this window is their first chance to show us their mettle. I'm also impatient and want to see some progress. NOW!

It is amusing seeing some of the negative comments on here already.

Why do you think that ?

The club (and most other clubs) have shown no previous indication of signing 25 year olds and instantly loaning them out before to not benefit the club in the upcoming season. He isn't a player who looks to be considered in high regard or of high potential, so I struggle to see the purpose of signing him.

Perhaps Sport Republic are buying Le Harve and this is all to benefit them! 🤔😁

We have recent history of signing players that aren’t of high regard.

Can you name any who were 25+ and have then been instantly loaned out abroad?

Remember to get a work permit players get points for having played in a certain tier League. I can see a scenario where we're playing a long game and putting players in a position to get a work permit easier.

And goalkeepers peak at a older age compared to other outfield players

The French 2nd tier doesn't meet that criteria.

Funner fact; I am the matchday announcer at Fareham Town and we had 11 different goalkeepers over the course of last season. I was considering taking my gloves along at one point just in case! 😂

That isn't a rumour, the information of what gets points for a work permit is freely available.

You believe the rumour That Mateusz Lis is going to Le Havre is true.

Not the rules for work permits 🤡

Indeed,  careless of me only seeing it through a fans eyes only. From a fan point of view though it will not be the end of the world.

Not literally it was wont be, but it still hurts, and there is always the danger of going into free fall. It’s not the end of the world but it’s far better to stay in the league
