FFS, SSN reporting that Leeds have not given up and are still trying to sign Gakpo.

If the Barkley deal is true (doubt it) it could be the signal that we’re close to the end of doing business.

I take that to mean they will be back for him next window

We're re-signing Tadic. Only logical explanation. Serb owner brings back club's Serbian legend to play in a kit that looks like Ajax.

Just a bit of miscommunication, I imagine, perhaps caused by a dodgy mobile signal. Ralph said to Semmens "we need more players, get to Barclays". Unfortunately Martin heard "we need more players, get Barkley"...

Without wishing to go all MLG on your intended witicism, it was Barclays that put us into administration. Hope to god we're not still banking with them.

Willian to Fulham would seem a good move for them.

Absolutley terrible move in my eyes. I don't know what Fulham have seen as he was simply inept at Arsenal and was hounded out in Brazil for being shit.

My comment wasn't meant to be taken seriously. I apologise. No offence meant.

I’ll put you down as maybe not the full shilling

Wow. Have they seen him play? 😉

No they have been reading your opinions on here and that gave them more confidence to sign him 😃

Placating the fans as it would appear their second choice hasn’t gone down that well.

I’ve seen some great performances from him…(I think lol).

No maybe about it.

You must excuse me, as an autistic person, I sometimes say things without thinking through the likely contexts that they'll be taken in. Like I said, no offence was meant. Being not the full shilling is both a blessing and a curse I tell you!

Stephens to Bournemouth, but only on loan and no option to buy. Interesting - if they’re relegated (likely IMO) he’d come back to us with his stock even lower and difficult to move on (unless his contract is up).

I believe they're covering all of his wages, as was posted on here last night? I never thought of it like that though.

Apologies as this place is brutal but appreciate your reply. Have a lot of personal experience of autism in family members and no way is the term ‘not the full shilling’ acceptable to describe - as you say a blessing and a curse

It feels really weird (and maybe a bit spoilt?) to have had such a productive window but feel disappointed we haven't added another attacker.

The fact we were willing to almost double our record fee on a winger but haven't found an alternative highlights the fact that everybody is aware of this. Hopefully Edozie is ready for minutes in a similar way to Lavia, otherwise I'll feel extremely worried with our options there this season.

Please no to the was once promosing but no longer good floating around clubs thinking each can unlock their potential, which has been robbed by age/injury/attitude but still on big money type player. If you want someone who is "good in the dressing room" I am sure you can find some bloke called Dave who will do it for 500 quid a week.

I imagine that'll be the case.
If we hadn't been linked with Gakpo at all we'd all be going "Edozie - another great City prospect!" It's purely that fact we were linked with Gakpo for little under 48 hours that people might feel a little disappointed.

I've taken the glass half-full approach. Bazunu, ABK, Lavia and Aribo can provide the foundations and service to Adams and Armstrong that they desperately missed last year. I'd rather have it this way than sign a top striker and not be a position to support them and continue to leak goals like a sieve. We'll find a way to score goals with what we have. Not forgetting Mara either of course.

Disagree. Great player back in his day but that was long ago. Been poor for ages. May have the odd flash of his old self but I can't see him doing much.

Not signing an attacker would leave us a little light (especially if Adams picks up an injury). Hopefully Edozie can step up if he comes in but he sounds a little further behind the other City lads we have brought in. Difficult one for the club now - clearly thought they had Gakpo in the bag which we all agree would have been a superb signing - I don't think we will get Gakpo in the next window now, his stock is going to be too high post-WC so we need to look elsewhere and just depends whether we've got the time to move to the next option today.

As long as we don't panic buy like we did with Carrillo and piss away a ton of cash

Fingers crossed! We're definitely better with the players you've mentioned, it just really feels like a goalscoring winger is what takes us from a relegation fight to a good season for me.

Official - Romeu gone to Girona.

£5m. What an unbelievable signing he was for us. Loved him, best of luck to him.

Didn't we pay something like 4M for him? Did we make a profit on his sale?

Not at all. I don't think anyone's really "the full shilling" tbf. It's just a way of being and if I'm honest, I'll "play the A card" at any opportunity because it's the hand I was dealt but I'm also quite open to laughing at myself. So it's all good here.

Following the failure to sign Gakpo after Leeds annoying intervention I guess we are all wondering if anyone else might suddenly pop up as being linked with Saints. I imagine it will be some left-field up and coming player who has recently been called up as an international having got some good goal scoring stats with his club. It could be someone like Vangelis Pavlidis who is near the top of the goal scoring stats in Holland:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vangelis_Pavlidis

No idea if he is any good, but I am sure the club will have scouted players like him. Let's hope they can pull something out of the bag!

Bit strange that we haven't announced AMN yet. I hope we're not saving it just in case nothing else happens and so we still have something to announce...

Well, he plays for AZ... Closest international airport = Amsterdam... Where those two private jets from Southampton are heading for as we speak... You may have stumbled across a scoop here sir... ;):)

Maybe @Turkish could start a thread on the fella just to help see it over the line?
