Having fallen for all the hype and bullshit surrounding Adams and Armstrong in their Championship days, one hopes we will not again fall into the trap of grabbing a bargain from the lower leagues.

I actually fully believe it's a great strategy for a club like ours, and I wouldn't call Adams a failure in any sense.

Best of the non-promoted Championship sides will always be a strategy I'd support us going for. Johnson and Worrall from Forest for example.

any particular reason why they have to be right footed?

maybe we don't need a right footed CB - just someone who can play on the right of the back two - and someone who can partner Salisu effectively.  Probably more importantly they need to be vocal and be a leader on the pitch.

Because the championship produces players of identical quality…

this one again

been linked with him for a while, probably say there's something in it.

I do not disagree with you at all but how much will that cost and does the club have a budget for it

In the 2021 summer transfer window we got in A Armstrong Peraud Tino Lynaco for about £30 m and they hardly contributed to a successful season although loaning in Broja did to some extent

probably a lot more than the club have to spend I would guess - but I think its what the they need to do if they want to improve the team and change the clubs downward momentum

its probably £15M-20M per player at minimum - and I guess you could sell some of the current squad (Redmond, Bednarek, Elyounoussi) to raise some cash to improve the quality of the squad

it all leads to the question should we sell JWP if it means we get £40-60M  to invest back in to the squad

Which planet did you say you were from?

3 out, 2 in max. is probably the most optimistic outcome of the summer transfer market that can be expected. The rest stay either because nobody wants them or we can't afford to terminate contracts.

We need to keep at least 11 players on our books to meet PL obligations.

Congratulations on your pessimism and lack of understanding between an opinion of what needs to happen and should happen versus the likely reality which I never guessed at specifically.

For all the people hoping for Lingard (probably not many)

Quote

Lingard has priced himself out of a move to Newcastle apparently, wants £150,000 a week and a big signing bonus.

Presume he’ll go abroad now.

Johnson is already one hell of a player. He would improve us straight away. Probably best if forest don't get promoted, then we might have a chance to get him.

Keane Lewis-Potter (who we've been linked with before) has looked good on the highlights I've seen but it looks like West Ham are in the Bowen/Benrahma-esque hunt for their next good Championship player. It would be nice to get one over on them but, right now and I hate to say it, they're the more attractive proposition.

Tottenham look likely to beat Manchester United to the signature of West Bromwich Albiongoalkeeper Sam Johnstone, 29. The England international, who started his career at Old Trafford, would be back-up to Hugo Lloris at Spurs. (Standard)

Seems to suggest that Henderson must be on the move

This is third hand information, but originates from someone who works for the club. Ward Prowse definitely wants to stay next season.

Whether the club have a price on his head and will sell if a suitable bid from a top team comes in is another matter.

Sounds good.

I cannot see anyone offering us what it would take to sell, apart from possibly Man Utd

He has a contract, you can’t sell him, if he doesn’t want to go. I blame FM.

Bamford anyone?.

If he recovers from injury obviously.

Would take any of Bamford, Raphinha, Phillips, Ayling and Phillips. Obviously will sign none of them 😅

I wouldn't want Raphinha or Ayling to be honest.

I’m skeptical this’ll happen, his LGBT+ stance seems at odds with the club’s and the club are very vocal about it (regardless of what you may personally think of either of those stances)

For real?

Raphinhia would walk into our team and probably run rings around our existing players. He's like 4 or 5 levels up on any of our number 10's.

We wouldn't get him though, he's off to a big club.

He's a christian. We have a few muslims and they are opposed to LGBT that shouldn't be a factor.

In the sun, so its pure rumour mill fluff surely?

Would be a great acquisition, particularly with Haaland going there - he's surely going to be looking for a move? We need to push hard for an option to buy though!

Jack Rosser tends to be okay with us, even if he is currently associated with The Sun.

Liam Delap makes sense with Haaland/Alvarez joining, being from Winchester as well.

He may not have huge affinity to us, Winchester probably the area Rory Delap was based when at Saints. Delap likely left Saints before any impression would have been made on Liam.

Probably the reason why he would come to us over others. Has been whispered around for ages, wouldn't be surprised with that one. Probably better off than spending £30m on Broja atm

I looked on Wiki and he has played 2 PL games so who knows

At least with Broja he had scored international goals and Chelsea fans I know rated him highly

Broja's first senior international goal was when he was a Saints player, not before he joined.

I’d take Mukiele of RBL, apparently available for £10m this summer.

Ship Bednarek off to whatever team wants him.

The Raphina debate is a bit pointless really, 99% of people would take him. But it’s the equivalent of saying I’d take Saka, or Rice, or Ronaldo 🤷🏻‍♂️ Out of our league.

Raphina ffs. This place makes me laugh.

We can hardly afford top end championship players, let alone top end Premier league players.

Isn’t Mukiele a RB, rather than a CB?
