Hopefully just agent pressure. I'd be very worried if I was Smith Rowe and he did end up going to Arsenal.

And Martinelli. Figured he'd be their no1 in that position. Something about it feels strange. The type of signing Arsenal would do but currently they seem solid in that position.

these teams have a terrible fixture schedule this season.  That is why many are increasing the overall quality of their squads like they are

That shipped sailed in January, that was our opportunity if we really wanted to pursue it. Game over as soon as Feb rolled around.

He won't go anywhere this window, but he will be shipped off out in loan in January I reckon.

We were pushing for him as late as the weekend just gone and by all accounts Broja saw us as a pathway to prem minutes but looks like Chelsea have decided to offer him more gametime

I think he’ll feature tonight

I cannot for one minute see us getting this guy. I am sure some of it is agent talk too but it seems there are too many clubs interested.

I'm sure we tried but it ain't happening. Let's hope we have other options more appropriate for our budget/standing.

I think Saints behind closed doors are really trying for this a lot more than say, maybe Ramos? 🤷🏻‍♂️

I think SR secretly want to make a statement signing, but equally not be taken for granted. The kitty might be there but they aren’t flaunting their money like some other clubs do.

The sort of player that a certain fraternity of the Saintsweb forum would label as "underwhelming" you mean...? ;)

If we're not writing players off after ten minutes into their first substitute appearance then we're not doing transfers right.

How can players prove the doubters wrong if everyone thinks they're good from the get go?

Yep. Seems a bit unlikely, but 🤞

Hope we are doing our best to tap up broja tonight…

would still be the best signing we can make absolute top draw this lad..

hopefully sat in at Mary’s just watching will get him thinking how he could be playing every week if he was here

On the Crystal Palace saying they have put a bigger offer in than ours for Gakpo apparently Vieira is a pull. Hopefully rubbish

I've seen that on Twitter: It's a wind-up post from an account called "CPFC is gay".

It’s all agent talk now.

Saints do 95% of stuff behind the scenes. I would talk the “Gakpo linked to three other clubs” as a pinch of salt.

I agree with that. 'Other clubs' are always mentioned. It helps the seller and player squeeze a little more out of a buyer. I bet we are the biggest fish after him, but PSV just want more money.

Seems pretty unlikely we'd pull out of a transfer based on a seemingly minor hamstring injury.

also, if Romeu was leaving then we'd have a replacement lined up or a plan to play Stu or another in the middle in the event of an injury.

Whats wrong with Diallo ? Was brilliant tonight

Nothing, but if he played tonight, how can he replace Lavia at the weekend? Someone else would have to come in wouldn't they.

Not necessarily, depends on the length of injury but not sure we’re cancelling ORs transfer because of a single injury in MF

Id be baffled if we don’t have someone coming in

Diallo and JWP with Aribo in the ten where JWP seemed to push into tonight first half.

Hopefully the last few performances don't reduce our eagerness in the transfer market. Pending outgoings (hopefully Bednarek, Stephens, Redmond and Walcott) we still need a striker, winger and CB in my opinion. Also a CM if Romeu is allowed to leave, although that may have hit the skids after Lavia's injury tonight

you misunderstand me. My point was, Diallio can't be Diallo AND Lavia. Another player in the squad or outside would need to fill Lavia's position.

IMO Romeu will depart and another will come in.

Maybe, but for me, Aribo doesn't cover the ground quickly, so if we want three midfielders doing the hard yards he aint the man. If we feel we will have more ball then its a fair option.

Don't see us signing a CB just because we have so many of them. Offload two or three (including Simeu) then maybe.
