That’s what Mane was so brilliant at, not sure i’ve seen a player do it better than him, what a player he was for us.

I wonder which window will be the first to suggest we bring him back?

Haha I think he’s got a good few years left until that! 2027 would be a good bet, he’ll be 35 then and probably losing his burst of pace and looking to leave Bayern after winning everything there is. He’d be good for the youngsters etc etc.

I still think it's most likely that Broja will come back on loan again (depending on who Chelsea sign). All other known options seem to have been exhausted, but there's probably a wildcard out there as well who hasn't been discussed at all. I mean who had Sekou Mara on their HCDAJFU bingo card?

As fantastic as it would be for us to sign a striker (and I do wonder if a late Broja move could be on the cards), I still think a massive, brutish and authoritative CB would be top of my shopping list at the moment.

We’ve got two 6’3" CBs in the team already, how massive and brutish were you thinking? Anyone taller than that is likely to be scrawny, tectonically slow or just sh*t.

Broja and AMN on loan, with proper money being spent on an AM, would represent really, really good sensible business imo.

Especially if we can get a option to buy in both of those loan deals.

An additional CB would be the cherry on top, imo.

Agreed - if we got another CB i’d want either an old head who can just plug gaps when needed, or a better version of Lyanco basically so that we could play 3 CB’s when needed without being shit. But obviously we need to shift at least one but probably two of our existing CB’s.

Why do we have to buy more players not good enough to start?  If we sign a player, i'd hope they are good enough to be first 11, and look to get into the team

The problem with a big strong centre back is that the first time they come up against a nippy skilful centre forward they look slow and clumsy and everyone starts moaning about why we bought a lump with the turning circle of an oil tanker. Who'd be a manager.

ABK surely fits that description. The bloke is a beast.

This is what I said after the Tottenham game, who's to say that what we think we need hasn't already be signed?  Just because they are young and cheap(ish), it doesn't mean that Bazunu, ABK, Mara and Lavia aren't going to quickly become the new spine of our team?  They all look pretty good from what I've seen so far.

I'm not saying that I don't think we should sign anyone, but I also don't think we're as desperate for new faces as some people think.

I think our key success this summer has been keeping our best players, who are now being complimented by some great looking young talent.

No thank you to Broja and what ever would we do with another brutish CB? Keep up to date

"Keep up to date" 😆 Do one, ya gobby twat! Anyone would think I'd called for the culling of baby seals, what with the outcry to my statement.

All I'm saying is I'm tired of our shite defense over the last few seasons. I'm glad y'all have decided after mere moments on the pitch that ABK is the man. And I hope he is - that would be awesome. He certainly looks good thus far. But regardless, I'm not certain that his signing alone has cured all our defensive ills, and I'd love someone to come in and boss our back line. An old head would be great, as someone said. And yes, I'd like him to be a bruiser. Honestly I'd be happy for us to offload Stephens, Lyanco and Bednarek if we're able to get upgrades in.

And before anyone says it, yes obviously I'd also love to see a new striker, wide midfielder and full back cover come in, too.

Is that all OK now? Does that statement get the green light or have I committed some other cardinal sin of which I'm unaware?

Quick question. Do you see this new bruiser of a CB playing as first choice in a three with ABK and Salisu or instead of one of them?

For me ABK is the player you have described. Whether he will be a big success isn't known yet but the same thing would be unknown about your proposed bruiser.

Someone on this thread - I can't remember who - was bemoaning the fact that we'd missed out on a chance to sign Dele Alli, now that he's on his way to the Prem players' knacker's yard that is the Turkish league. There's an excellent article in the Times today (behind a paywall sadly) that shows the size of the bullet we dodged. It traces his decline all the way back to 2017, when Pochettino expressed his concerns about 'motivation' and attitude. Dele's since been managed by Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo, Conte and Lampard, none of whom have been able to retrieve the player he once was, and his decline never stopped in all that time, right through his peak years.  Frightening.

Tyson Fury is available, good in the air, and technically better than Janet Vestergaard.

It's not likely at all. Apart from the fall-out with RH he wasn't very good at scoring goals.

I don’t see Broja coming back. I never have especially the way last season ended. Wherever he goes now he will expect to play after his semi-decent season last year.

I think he’ll end up abroad at CL or EL competing. But he’s going to get no chances in that Chelsea squad, especially if Aubameyang is going there.

If he and RH did have a falling out then there is no chance, and also based on the way he finished last season I wouldn’t say is any great loss.
Only loss for us is squad depth; and that again only depends on what formation we play in the long run this season.

Have you actually seen ABK? He's a giant.

Can't quite remember the timings of our signings but have we actually bought (or sold) anyone since Joe Shields has come in?  He only has to work for a couple of months in the summer and a month in January and seems like he's done eff all.  Joe Shields Out!

I'm joking before anyone take it seriously.

Leicester / Chelsea agree Fofana deal.

'Up to' 85m apparently. "world record fee for a defender"

Maybe we can now create a Bednarek bidding war. Go on Brandan, you know you want that Vestergaard and Bednarek reunion.

Everton have fixed all their goal scoring worries by signing the infrequent goal scorer that is Neal Maupay.

Adams, McBurnie, Maupay, J.Ayew, Rodriguez - the “great” summer of 2019 where 5 Premier League clubs got their strikers from the Championship… I definitely think we got the best.

Makes Brighton a bit more likeable and adds another reason to detest the dugout pioneers. Odious little scrote.

Don't get me wrong, Maupay isn't a terrible player, but he was a main reason as to why Brighton didn't win the games their dominance 'should have' last season (and the season before tbf).

I think Adams has more about him physically for sure, but they're quite evenly matched in ability. McBurnie though....christ. £20m on that pile of shit!

Leicester isn't that far from Birmingham, Redmond wants to move back home. I wonder if they'd be a team thst would want to sign Redmond as back up.

I was wondering which insufferable helmet was going to score the inevitable winner against us at Goodison this year. Now I know.

Well at least it won't be Richarlison anymore. And it also finally puts to bed the rumours of them signing Che.

I've not bothered looking on GOT yet, but I imagine they will be seriously underwhelmed by this signing. He's not the standard of player that their fans will think a club if their size should be signing. The big question is: will he prove to be any better than Salomon Rondon?

Just scored his first league goal since December 2020!
