What's the rationale for that thinking? I think it's now or never for him to be honest.

Literally on the previous page.

He just strikes me as different, more of a family man, more switched on from let’s say the likes of Jack Grealish.

I think JWP is content being the leader of the dressing room, his family are settled and also seeing all those players that were around him move on and achieve relatively little might make him think again.

Plus this doom-mongering is down to our run of results, which have been a shit show the last ten games.

This conversation wouldn’t be happening had we won a few more.

I just don’t see him going.

If he hadn't had the season he has had in terms of free kick goals, I think I would have agreed with you. Think this season has seen the bigger clubs see him in a different light now.

Doesn’t seem ideal for a crucial window.

Regardless of what Glover is like, the timing doesn’t suggest excitement or any sense of shift in aspirations from the takeover which keeps people in key posts engaged. Looks like more of the same from the last 5 years and wheels coming off Sports Republic.

We need to get rid of the " jobs for the boys" coaches we have  employed ...same applies to "job for the boys " players aswell .

Agree. We had two goalkeepers as coaches and then appointed a specialist goalkeeping coach on top! Where is the logic?

I wonder who we'll get recommended, from a guy who would much rather be at his new employer?

"I think that to really progress, we have to think right outside the box. Say hello to our former basketball playing defender and striker and our rugby playing midfield (Clive says hi, by the way.)" 🙂

(I'm confident that he will be profssional throughout. Besides, considering some of the deals that haven't worked at all in previous years, he'd have to work extra hard to be as poor.)

It's all well and good replacing Ralph, but with whom? I can't see any obvious candidates and every time we start fiddling its not always turned out better.

Had you heard of Franke? Marsch?
Anyway we as fans don’t have to it’s already lined up or identified allegedly.

I smell a "next manager" thread.

Rooney for me. (Not really)

I know you’re joking, but the suggestion  of Rooney makes either Di Canio or Poyet a more welcome prospect.

He's not done a bad job at Derby but we need experience and new ideas. I wouldn't be against Nuno Espirito Santo although apparently there are questions over his man management skills.

Whilst I do fancy fresh ideas this summer with a new manager, I still expect us to have Ralph next season. I just hope we bring in players that can improve us.

which is exactly what the owners said from day 1. Any Saints fan that thought otherwise just wasn't listening.

The timing of his departure is not horrendous. I am pretty sure clubs don't wait until May before they contact agents about signing in the summer, and this scouting reports will have been presented to management already.

Fans would like Nunos style of play, too boring for us, we need to be entertained

Ralph is going nowhere. A manager that repeatedly keeps a lower mid table side in the league is all an owner wants. Stay in the league, get the Prem money and the wheels keep turning.

Exactly this. Our owners are hands off. They want continuity and security.

Give Roger Schmidt currently at PSV a go - leaving PSV on a free at the end of this season as they couldnt agree a contract extension, currently has them 2nd just behind Ajax and we can steal a few of their players as well.

Managed at RB Salzburg, Leverkesun etc so knows our style and we've talked about him before on here.

Allegedly there's no money to improve the squad unless we sell first, league position prize money is getting pissed away by the game and the new owners appear to have no more ambition than the last.

What's not to look forward to in respect of this post ?

What is the evidence for that claim?

He is leaving PSV because he is joining Benfica...

I have no clear evidence apart from the general consensus. But if you know anything to the contrary, then now's your chance to speak. But,of course you don't.

I wasn’t expecting a sudden injection of large funds but for the same model with a bit more investment (which was mentioned several times by all parties) to be flexible and not 1 in 1 out as strictly as Gao. With the current parlous state of the club, fine to be fully sustainable 2023/24 onwards but it does need some proper funding this summer and a debt reduction/payments plan which at the basement £100m price point should have been obvious. Unless they are happy with being in the Champ 2023 onwards I guess?

JWP is the last golden asset with immediate potential to sell like VVD was with Gao. Salisu maybe if he signs a new deal. Livra’s ACL has messed their plans up a bit this summer then. Hopefully we get a pleasant surprise but if there’s no new investment at all then 2023 will be the season the PL music stops and SFC is one of the three without a chair. I could live with aiming for 17th in the 1990s when we needed to stay up for a new stadium and the Dell was reduced to only 15k.

Its their asset now anyway and they can do what they want with it, I’m sure there will still be 30k there next year to watch the 4222 getting over-run every week. Millions are getting their homes and lives destroyed in Ukraine, football isn’t that important by comparison.

The burden of proof is on the person making a claim. You made the claim, not me.

You can read too much into quotes and interviews, but from earlier in the month https://www.hampshirelive.news/sport/football/football-news/ralph-hasenhuttl-southampton-transfer-hint-6911133 (so this may have been discussed already) it sounds like our transfer targets won't be restricted to the `Chelsea youth team'. Perhaps someone like Johnstone fits that narrative. Hard to say from those few quotes, but feels like there will be `some' funds available or at least the intention to bring a few new players in.

If that is the case why did you not take the opportunity to increase this awful burden on me by challenging the other aspects of my claim ?

Here's a great idea. Why not wait until the conclusion of the summer transfer window, you will then be in an excellent position to prove my claim as being wrong. I am sure that you can remember and manage this as you don't seem to have much else in life to get in the way.

I will give you the honour of having the last word as you seem the type that would lose sleep if you don't.

I see we've gone "A-List" with our choice of end of season awards compere this evening. Maybe this is a symbol of our ambitious to come in the transfer window this summer....? ;)

Looks good. I guess Liverpool have a sell on clause though so that would be annoying!

Liverpool having a sell on clause doesn't really matter. Why care what happens to the money Saints spend in terms of the clubs the selling club passes it onto?

Because it will make the asking price higher if Berlin have to give some of that cash to Liverpool….

Sell on clauses are pretty standard in transfers, so it won't make a difference. Especially if the article is true about the min fee release clause and Saints meet it.
