Summer 2022 Transfer Window

Maybe it’s Romeu that wants to leave Saints and head home to Spain - I am pretty sure if he had wanted to have renewed and extended his contract last season the club would have done so.

Hasn’t he just had a kid - and he’s from a small town in Catalonia - Girona are more or less his home town club - maybe he wants to be closer to his family and/or end his career in Spain.

I had a feeling he’d end up ay Espanyol on a free transfer next summer to be honest - but Girona makes sense given his Barcelona connections.

saying that we do need his experience in the dressing room but his best days on a pitch are probably behind him now

i would see Garner as more of a replacement for Diallo so perhaps it will be 2 in and 2 out in midfield

I would like to see us bring in Ampadu as well - his best position is as play making holding midfielder where he plays for Wales - but he can also play at centre back and right back - and Chelsea are open to letting him leave

Mad that's he's only 26. Someone should be able to get some decent football out of him in the premier league.

Garner and Aouar for Romeu and Diallo please, would make for a way more dynamic midfield

Would be sad to see Romeu leave - fantastic pro and very effective DM for us. If it’s his choice to get back to Spain with family then good luck to him, especially if Garner is incoming as I think he comfortably fits the template Romeu leaves behind.

Have to say though, I’m starting to get slightly nervous that we’ve not seen some movement in the striker dept yet. Delap seems more likely than Broja, but it wouldn’t surprise me to see an unknown name (to us) come in.

Bloke's a walking yellow/red card. He'd be suspended half the season.

I suppose so. I just think Romeu's value to us on and off the field is far greater than any transfer fee we're likely to get.

I quite agree but suspect he probably wants to end his career in a very lovely place near his home/family etc. And we shouldn't stand in his way if so. But yes, amazing reader of the game, incredible control and awareness, technique. Plus, seemingly, a great guy. (with nice dog)

🚨 Southampton chose to sign Romeo Lavia (18) over a ‘vastly more experienced’, 24/25-year-old player with ‘over 100 appearances in the Bundesliga’ – Saints felt that, in the long-run, Lavia’s sell-on value will be higher #saintsfc

From what I've seen of Lavia, one could quite easily assume he'd started that many games by the way he plays.

Tosser. Leicester have just paid him to be injured for a year, and got him back to full fitness, repays them with this. think it's really poor form from Fofana personally

Has something gone on that i've missed? This is football and Leicester need the money and are going to get handsomely rewarded? As long as he behaves respectfully and honours his contract, i don't see the issue?

Signed a big new 5 year contract a few months ago, now saying he wants out.

But that helps the club get the maximum amount, may have even known he'll be off so he signed up knowing he'd get more money for the club.

Scrap that, just read what he's been saying. He's a dick.

Chelsea only willing to let Hudson-Odoi leave on loan. Wages are £150k per week (!) but they're willing to support some of that for clubs that can't facilitate that themselves.

Noooooi! Gutted  if true. My favourite player of the last 5 years. Total unflustered pro. We need him around the club.

please think again.

Really enjoy watching him when he is on song. Hs been a very underrated Prem player. However, his form dropped off a cliff last year. Do you think his legs have gone or was it just one of those things and partly down to the struggle of the entire first team?

Hopefully we are at the front of the queue for Hudson Odoi.

I'd rather keep Romeu for another year and let him go for free next summer. What's £3 Million??

Is that the transfer fee being mentioned or his wages? I am inclined to agree with you, but these few millions (£2.5m in wages for Stephens, £3m for Romeu) do start to add up and we do need to save a few bob if we are to ever start paying off the loan.

Can anyone think of any arguments for Hudson-Odoi to join us over Newcastle, Leicester or Dortmund?

at a stretch, more game time? We are shitter than those clubs, ergo he ought to find his way into the starting line up easier.  other than that, I've got nothing.

Saint Garrett did you say that there's a medical scheduled for tomorrow?

Supposedly. So idea who it is, what it's for, or whether its still happening though. I would guess that if it's not in the public eye already it may be a youth player or it's not happening.

No one wants to live in Newcastle surely. Stay in the UK computable distance, better guarantee of playing time? Probably a long shot but is the sort of improvement at 10 we need.

Newcastle is a fine place. What do you mean?

Do we see movement? A lot of signings just `happen'. We seen quite a few links to strikers in the last day or so, all be it, they could be complete bollocks.

Historically there's tended to be a view it's harder to get players to go there compared to London/ Manchester etc.

I imagine that unlimited funds may shift that somewhat

thought we were comparing it to Southampton, Leicester and Dortmund?

Anyone who thinks Newcastle is a shithole vs Southampton needs to get out more.

Southampton is a fucking toilet lads.

The main advantage for potential players for us is they can live somewhere else very easily which is not quite as true for the North East (although some still commute regardless).
