You'd think so, but maybe they were desperate to be rid of Abramovich. It certainly is a bit dodgy..

Unfortunately though, even if a solid link does come out its just egg on PL faces… I can’t really see any retrospective action after the sale has been approved

Not long now though till it slams SHUT!

One thing is for sure the Glaziers are going to get some serious grief if this window doesn't improve for United!

seems like Newcastle and possibly PSG are in for him as well, we rarely win the race when another decent premier league team want a player so dont get excited about this one. The days when we beat Liverpool to Vegard Forren seem a long time ago

What's the point in loans with the obligation to buy? Is it just so we have a year to come up with the money?

Not sure if it's still the case but transfers used to stipulate a certain percentage of the fee would have to be paid within the first year.  I think over here it was 100% but got a feeling that was relaxed a bit.  My impression was that obligation to buy was basically a means to secure a player and get around not being able to meet those financial regulations.  Option to buy wasn't binding but included the option to buy the player at an agreed price.

I have come to the conclusion that Trousers has a picture or video on everything.

I'm still waiting for an opportune moment to post a porcupine doing a high five

Interesting. Maybe it’s Romeu and not Diallo we’re looking to move on (and replace with Garner)?

Would be a shame as he's been an absolutely brilliant player for us but can see that happening. Also, Girona is a very lovely place. Hope he gets a good send-off. Model pro

Aren't Girona owned by Man City too? Maybe something linked there.

Was thinking the same thing. Pep has shown love for Romeu multiple times in the media, might’ve put a good word in

Be a real shame, he's a good guy and still a good player but from his perspective probably a good move for him.

Wonder whether the Guedes signing by Wolves might open it up a bit for us

Was thinking the same.  (Hard to see us beating Wolves to a Portuguese player otherwise*)

(* MLG notes - I know that Portuguese players have a choice of where to go & they don't have pre-determined destinations)

Maybe.  I feel like (very quietly) Romeu gets linked away every window.

Wouldn't be shocked by this. In fact I predicted something similar about a month back when the Winks rumours appeared again.

Romeu, who most of us would consider a 'key' player, is 30 years old and currently going into his last year of his contract with no noises about us trying to extend. For a club that seems to be focusing on youth currently i'm concerned that we may be looking to move him on. It's just a gut feeling but I can't see why else we wouldn't have already tried extending his contract. May be why the Winks rumours aren't going away as being more experienced he may be considered a better replacement for Romeu than another youngster.

Yes so would command a low transfer fee 2-3m tops

Yeah, low fee but last chance to get any fee I guess

Would love to know how much we would have to generate in sales to get a striker / new DM / new centre-back etc

Must depend on shifting Che etc

Hes been brilliant for us so would be a shame to lose him this year a Stoughton he'd be perfect as a bit of mentor for Lavia, but who can refuse him this move back to his home country if he wants it.

It may be the case that we are looking to sell whilst also buying but it's probably just a such a case of wanting to make sure enough players leave before some more come in to avoid having too many players on the wage bill and on the training pitch.

Clearing some stale minds will also be great.

Yeah I'd also much rather lose Diallo.

JWP/Garner & Lavia/Romeu makes a lot more sense than Lavia & JWP/Garner/Diallo, leaving us a bit more covered for injuries. If he wants to go however after noticing he's no longer first choice, then I certainly wouldn't begrudge him.

I would be sad to see Oriol go. He has been a brilliant servant for this club. Not only will we lose a damn fine player, but we will also need to nominate someone else to wind up and taunt Jack Grealish! We need to start a "KEEP ORIOL" campaign. Only my opinion, but I would much rather we were looking to move Diallo out.

Possibly some legs in it. Think Girona is in Catalonia, not to far away from Barcelona. Maybe the move back to his home region in Spain might be too good an opportunity to turn down in this stage if his career.

He was born in Ulldecona which is about 300km from Girona but he joine Barcelona's youth academy from Espanyol. So yes, definitely his home region.

Nice area :)

Van Dijk mk II

Tosser. Leicester have just paid him to be injured for a year, and got him back to full fitness, repays them with this. think it's really poor form from Fofana personally

It's a short career.
