Summer 2022 Transfer Window

I’m going to put my cock on the block and say that if we keep them together, add three or four additional players next summer and get Tino back by the end of of next season we will be in and around the  Europa league places. It will quite probably mean a new manger as well but the foundations are there for a really exciting future for this group

I'd rather try for a signing we can actually buy even if they aren't as good.

Wow. Amazing what a point against Leeds at home can do

Nothing to do with that. I reckon we’ve signed some very good players to supplement the better ones already here, will add a couple more this window. The ones we’ve got will grow and add in few more and we’ve suddenly got a very good young side. Like id said though it might also need a new manager…

Agree with that bit wholeheartedly. He is Mr Tacticless

Big call. Fair play.

Not got anything against him.

Had spells where he was decent and he’s generally comfortable on the ball, as well as being able to pass through the lines pretty well. Just a liability at this level a little too often, and Lyanco’s arrival probably spelt the beginning of the end for him.

I think he’ll do well in the Championship, hopefully it’s a permanent deal for a couple of million (optimistic?).

Yeah, good luck to him. He's had his moments, good and not so good, but has been a good servant in my opinion. Probably a good time to move on, for himself and for the club. Watford should have a few quid to spend as well. having lost Dennis and isn't/hasn't Saar going/gone as well? so hopefully we get some of that.

That guy seems up for the signing!

FWIW he is a good player for the 2nd tier.

Seriously meta stuff. That link goes to their forum, which goes back to our forum. Personal highlight is this: "Negative side is that we’re replacing one donkey with another donkey... Stephans will want to be in our first 11, but from what I’ve seen of him over the years is that he is a massive liability."

Hilarious stuff. To be honest I think it's a good move for him and the club. Seems likeable, had his moments, can obviously play but will probably never be more in the prem than last choice at a club like ours. Will be interesting to see how he copes with the aerial ball in the championship (not that I'll be watching).

The Forest result concerns me. This season it feels like there is actually real potential down the bottom. All the teams have good attributes.

This could be our biggest fight to remain in the epl since our return. Actually, nah, nothing will be as precarious as that Swansea game! But, it could be very close.

Since seeing a little more of Aribo and Mara I’ve modified my wish list from 2 strikers to a striker and a attacking midfielder. Get those and I think my prediction of 12th is achievable with or without Ralph, which is good because I don’t think he’s going anywhere just yet.

Forest will be absolutely fine.

They have an excellent manager, and have bought well.

We will play very few worse sides than Leeds this season. They are one of the three sides we have to finish above, along with Fulham and Boscombe.

And if I’m Southampton I’m on the phone to Harvey Vales representatives first thing tomorrow morning saying ‘see, no squad number and new players being targeted  in your position…come play here’.

That rumour will be outed as nonsense pretty quickly this week so I’d be onto Vale ASAP.

Not watched him at all aside from youtube just now but what you thinking midfield 3 of Romeu, lavia and JWP with him coming off the bench this season and starts next season if romeu leaves.

Its the same every year bro - dont stress, they are like a puppy in a new park.

New teams with new players start well, regular teams havent played them before etc etc - but when we are in the new year they start losing a lot.  Will be interesting this year though if the world cup helps these new teams assuming their squads arent decimated by it.

Regarding Delap, is it really worth signing him on loan with no option to buy?

Spend the season developing him, taking the risk to give an untried kid a chance in the PL and then if he does well (score 6 or 7 PL goals and look a threat) know that there is about a 1.43% chance of being able to buy him.

We would be in exactly the same position next summer and have essentially helped Man City make a profit on him, or increase the value of their asset like we did with Broja.

On the flip side, he is absolutely brilliant and he keeps us up, which is looking like it will be a good achievement this season and then perhaps it works as a short term measure.

Would certainly prefer a permanent move for a striker - assuming we have more cash (or sell Adams).

I've not seen Aribo or Mara yet, where are they likely to redularly fit into the side? Who are likely to be preferences?

AM

1 Aribo

2 Armstrong

3 Redmond

4 Djenepo

5 Elyounoussi

6 Walcott

Forward

1 Adams

2 Armstrong

3 Mara

Jack Stephens is signing for Watford. Not sure if it's a loan or perm.

Interesting...I believe he moved back to cornwall, as his missus wanted to as they're both from down there, so I was told he wanted to play for someone closer to home. so to move to Watford is an interesting one. Think he'll do ok there though, but if they get promoted again sure he'll be happy being a squad player.

Just had a kid didn't he? Guess that makes sense to be closer to their parents, but that's a bloody long commute for training every day.  Not really many clubs down that way either, maybe Bristol City but all the other ones are a huge drop down.

Yup - I was expecting maybe Bournemouth or Bristol City. Think he's just about to have a baby, rather than had one already, but yeah.  One to keep a eye on...money talks at the end of the day and Watford would be a decent move for him, and good money.

Struggling to get rid of other squad players from what I've been told. Offers in for Lis & Macca, so expecting one to leave.  Club would prefer to get rid of Macca as on higher wages. Rejected offer for Diallo as we need cover.

Medical booked for Weds apparently....🤞

Makes sense to get rid of McCarthy, crazy giving him a new deal. Had some fun with my Man U mates this weekend getting into them about him joining them.

Not surprised we’re struggling to shift them all will be on wages way above what clubs they are good enough for can afford. Maybe get rid of a few at the end of the window as clubs gets desperate either panic buys or loans.

Garner seems an odd link to me. Clearly talented but doesn't seem a priority for a major outlay imo when you've got Lavia/JWP & Romeu. Guess Diallo would be odd man out in that scenario.

Personally i want to see a really pacey 10 arrive but that might be reliant on shifting out at least one of Redmond/Elyounessi.

Think it depends on whether Ralph trusts Mara with a start - unfortunately I actually don’t think he will, preferring Che and Armstrong to start. Aribo will definitely play AM left or right. Stu A on the other side in what I’m hoping will be a 4222. If and it’s a big if, he decides on a 4231 then possibly Mara might get a start in a no.10 role with Che up top - that would be my favoured formation/team.

Maybe, but then there may be a contract clause that says he doesn’t play against them this season? Don’t think we’ll be fortunate enough to see him in a Saints shirt, but everything tightly crossed!

Is there any actual substance in the Iheanacho story? I'm sure that was completely made up when Alex Crook said it we were in for a current premier league striker. Someone on here suggested it might be him because we were interested in him a few years ago and Joe Shields would know him.

I guess maybe a gentlemen's agreement could be on the cards but doubt any selling club would insist on it.  To be honest if it's Iheanacho then we probably could have got him at any point during the summer, fact we haven't indicates that he wasn't our first choice target going into the transfer window and we're working our way down the list of other possibles.  Doubt Leicester would want to jeopardise any deal because sounds like they need the cash.

It would be like us insisting Bednarek or Stephens doesn't play against us if we sell - chances are we'd probably try and put a clause in insisting they actually did play against us.....

More likely to be Delap than Iheanacho.
