Jesper Karlsson

I wrote about him in June, and i know i suggested him last year toghether with Jordan Larsson.

Prefer him to Svanberg. Different types though.

Jesper is talanted but not diciplined. That's why he's not playing a'lot in the national team. Would like him att Saints.

Lingard seemingly going to Forest. Probably on ludicrous cash, but regardless from purely football terms a ridiculously good signing for a promoted team.

Of course there is potential for their new signings not to gel but on paper most of them are good players and a few who have already done it at PL or Bundesliga level.

Good manager too.

I’d rather the approach TL the transfer window we’ve currently got, than Forest. Pissing away £180k p/w for Lingard is not a good investment. Also dies that attract other big name players to them? I’d argue probably not.

They could easily go the same way as Fulham.

Some people forget spending a shit ton of money doesn’t necessarily mean they’re more likely to stay up. Everyone forgets Fulham, QPR, Portsmouth, even Sheffield United a few years back - it doesn’t always work out and can unbalance the squad hugely.

I think if you’ve been in the Prem for a few years and spend a bit more money then it’s a little easier. However for a recently promoted team to largely demote to the bench the players that got them there to be replaced by money grabbing mercenaries is not the way to go 😅

Goal record isn't amazing but the fact that he's played for them 48 times aged 19 means he must have something about him?

Difference is Forest have a decent manager. Think he’ll hold it together. Our team has more than a mercenary whiff about it imo

Apparently we respected the club and saved them from liquidation. Newcastle wanted to pick him up cheap after they’d folded.

One for the future or a seasoned pro ready to get us goals from the get go? Hope this is not the only striker we sign!

Unfortunately I think this is the only way we are going to get a striker someone young who wants to progress

We have only had Ings as a decent striker  in recent years and only got him because of concerns about his injuries

Lets hope I am wrong

19years old and 6 goals in 26 Ligue 1 games last season - albeit less than 900minutes - (that's as good as Broja's Eredivise record for me as its a higher level and with more game time), plus 5 goals in the Toulon tournament. He's been courted by Newcastle and Leeds all summer. Its not the established first team attacker we'd all hoped for though. I'd say he's got decent enough pedigree and good potential but i feel we do need more. Hopefully another to come as well (out and out striker). Not quite sure where Maru would fit the team as he seems a bit lightweight - Does Feel like a 4-2-3-1 or similar next season - well we have the players for it.

Bit of a come down from looking at Karlson's clips yesterday though 😭

Having quickly scoured YouTube he seems to have a bit about him.

Gets fouled a lot based on those videos but he looks quite lively.

Then again so did Steve de ridder

Never heard of him, but this is exactly what we do. I hadn't really heard of Bella-Kotchap either, neither Broja when we got him.

At the end of the day once upon a time Haaland was unknown, so I don't have a problem with it as long as he has the attributes we need. If he does it won't be long until he is known!

Wonder if this is the Delap alternative. Hope he's good!

Certainly sounds like I potentially could be. I hope he’s not our first choice and is there to replace Armstrong rather than Broja! (I.e back up not starting).

He was a decent addition on a free transfer tbf

He wasnt free, he cost around £1m which doesnt sound much but was decent money at that time. HE was absolutely crap but everyone thought he was brilliant the first few games because he was fast and ran around a lot. Plus we had that god awful "Steve" thing people shouted about him when he touched the ball

Sevilla have accepted Chelsea's bid for Koundé. Apparently this guy is reliable even though he can't spell the name of Chelsea's stadium correctly.

I think we're going to be getting a lot of positive press attention this season for being the first PL side to field a starting lineup made up of 11 black players.  I think it could well happen, the only positions the strongest players aren't black in would seem to be LB and CM.

I have, the first impression I had of him last season, was nothing special, he was being labeled as Bordeaux’s savior from relegation because they didn t have much in their team.

He is only 19 though, and can develop way further, but don t think he would be the answer to our goalscoring issies. We need a more established striker

Supposedly played most of the time up front on his own in a 4-5-1 system and Bordeaux were trash last year so it looks like he did as much as he could. He's also 6' and looks like he gets fouled a lot, gets stuck in and takes a few bashings in that video above, so not sure on 'lighweight'/

A load of black players with a couple of blonde hair blue eyed blokes as their manager and captain, perhaps not as anti-racist as it might appear.......

I'd be very shocked if that hasn't happened already.

Be very shocked then, it hasn't.

I think the most is 9 for Arsenal but that was twenty years ago.

https://theathletic.com/2918488/2021/10/28/one-team-one-colour-arsenal-fielded-nine-black-players/

I assume the main thing that has stopped this happening is that there aren't many black keepers.

To be fair, why does it matter 😂

I can’t imagine many have even noticed it to be honest.

Who said it does?  😂

I'm fine with the best players being picked whatever their race/nationality is.

I'm just saying that with players still taking a knee before every game for black lives matter if this does happen it will really be big news.  (i.e. something that will feature as a main item on the BBC/ITV news, etc.

It will bring the club a lot of positive publicity.

will it not lead to questions as to why white players aren't thriving in the english game?

The yotube video i saw showed him playing on the wing a lot and ending up on floor after most challenges (something i can't see working for him in the prem in quite the same way) - and hence the "lightweight" remark. May have been a bad set of clips on him though?

This is very good karma for us - they are taking this transfer fee to a liquidation meeting this afternoon apparently.

so we sign a player who seems promising and the first thing you notice is the colour of his skin, shows exactly the type of person you are

whoscored has him as 'gets fouled often', 'commits fouls often' and the scout report in the other thread said he was mainly used as lone striker in a 4-5-1, so that involves a lot of playing with his back to goal, link up etc. so he'd have to have something about him physically to do that. Plus the scout report also mentions he is good defensively tracking back when needed and pressing from the front. The Toulon tournament video I thought showed him brushing off challenges pretty well, so overall I think he should be fine. Not expecting him to be some sort of target man but seems to have decent physical size and enough about him.

Plus if he gets fouled a lot then more JWP free kick chances!

If this is actually the case, then absolutely fair play to us for doing the decent thing. If that's what he'd be worth without his club in financial turmoil of course.
