I think he’ll be a good manager. Would have liked him to replace Ralph. Ah well.

Replace Ralph have you missed the borderline miracle he has performed?

Lets see how he gets on with a new assistant it may be the answer.

Some guy called SaintRob on Twitter has suggested that the Bazanu deal was completed five days ago but nothing will be announced until next week.
I’m very 50/50 on this guy based on previous.

Make of that what you will.

Maybe things are being done in the background. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I missed the borderline miracle by watching seemingly endless losses and lacklustre performances caused by blundering inadequacies in game management and bewildering team selections.

There have also been reports that Lis did a medical and signed last week.

At this stage there is no rush to announce signings, its not like they are even back training yet. Lots of people are on holiday and the club probably prefer to announce properly i.e with video interviews etc rather than just chucking out a one line tweet.

I'm sure plenty is going on.

Player signing a contract and us not announcing it?

Probably true 😄

Like they did with Stephens and McCarthy - it's just a shambles. Who else extends contracts of 2 players and is too embarrassed (or to incompetent) to announce it?

They are probably concerned at not being able to cope with the demand for their names on the new kit.

Our lords and masters seem intent to buy third rate European clubs and traffick humans - sorry players - around them. Is that the plan? It feels like Poundland Abramovich. Can we start investing some of the money we will doubtless get for JWP or is it all playing poker time with clubs like West Ham readying themselves to similarly spend their Rice cash (but afraid people will raise their prices)? Maybe we have great irons in the fire (not those irons). Hope so. But it feels a bit quiet on the quality incomings front in key positions (most notably CB and keeper)

Excuse me have you also missed the borderline miracle?

You will get accused of not being a supporter and harassment by the luvvie brigade in a minute.

Incase you missed it, multiple good sources said at the end of last week that we are set to sign Bazunu from Man City for up to £15m.

Pompey POTS on loan and current Ireland no1 aged 20.

Certainly isnt quiet regarding goalkeeper position.

The transfer window has been open for 5 days, and we're Southampton, not Man City - what exactly do you expect?

Soooo, you want us to start spending the money we haven't got from the sale of a player that isn't for sale and nobody has come in for?

yes, saw that, and hope he signs. Since then Kompany has begun Burnley manager and it's gone a bit quiet. He's a good keeper. Hope we get it done.

I guess we all had highish expectations given new ownership and some of the noises coming out of the club. It wasn't unreasonable to expect some early business, you don't wait until the window opens to start looking for players or beginning discussions.

Unfortunately it was so borderline we missed it , plus I don't belive in miracles , pius if a miracle was performed other managers would see that miracle and out miracle St Ralph of the lack of crosses .

Inded.  Or at least getting some right sounding noises out there about intentions. Just to pacify dreamers like me. Instead we have a duff Polish keeper we're farming out immediately. Will go back to crossing fingers.

What's Kompany getting the Burnley job got to do with Saints acting in the transfer market?

He will have good links with Man City, especially the youngsters. We have been keeping tabs on players like Delap for ages. And Banzanu. So perhaps they may now be blooded at Burnley...

According to a report by Dan Sheldon of the Athletic, Southampton are eyeing moves for the likes of Liam Delap, Gavin Bazunu, Cole Palmer and James McAtee in the summer.

would be gutted if so, was hoping he would come down to Saints on loan or buyback

Very highly rated at City. I'd be surprised if City let him go on anything other than loan or without at least a buyback.

Although with Haaland and Alvarez signed and both only 21 it's hard to see Delap getting much gametime...

You need to get used to DT, just the normal transfer window routine.

Every single event happening at any club in world football means something negative will happen at Southampton Football Club.

If you want to see how Crystal Palace putting an offer in for a Portuguese full back can be interpreted as evidence that JWP will be sold next week, strap in.

Bazunu heavily linked by credible sources close to club = nothing close to be done.

Rumours in the red tops that JWP has interest from other clubs = he’s already left, why haven’t we spent the money yet.

He’s a top troller to be fair.

I can't see Liverpools new striker on there.  We can only assume he is way above and to the right of Haaland!

There may be amongst other reasons accounting / FFP reasons to delay officially confirming things.  Saints have form for the latter.

Very good move from Forest. Henderson was a large part of why Sheffield United finished 9th in the league. Replaced by Ramsdale who turned into a £30m goalkeeper after finishing bottom.

To be honest, this whole thread seems to be peopled with the most depressing, negative clowns who will never be pleased with anything that happens at the club.

I won’t if we continue with our trying to be too clever transfer policy.

On the other hand, we might be pleasantly surprised.  Still early days.

Do you really believe that's how we're operating? That the people concerned are sitting twiddling their thumbs just waiting for the window to open before doing anything?

No, I don't think that, the opposite, it was in response to the quoted post that the window has been only open 5 days, which is why nothing had happened - paraphrasing.

It's a gambe. They obviously feel that Bazunu is going to have a bigger re-sale value in a few years time. Personally I think this is the wrong strategy, at £20m Henderson would provide the stability and presence we need from a keeper. Basically, he isn't an unknown quantity.

I'd somewhat agree. If we already had a capable goalie (like WHU had with Fabianski) then I'd probably prefer a move for Bazunu with a view to him replacing in a year or so.

But in our current position we need a ready-made one to start from Day 1 in my opinion. I'm sure Bazunu will get there, but I don't think he's quite there yet.

That would make a lot more sense. Henderson for me is exactly what we need at this moment

Pretty much how I see it.
