Bloody great first half Southampton and we should be two nil up one way or the other. Walker-Peters, Salisu, Broja and Perraud have been excellent, the latter a right little terrier against the flailing Sterling. Would love to beat these bastards, their officials, and commentary team! COYR!

Great half saints. Will it last? Think the only way we can do this is go for more goals because they will surely score. Let’s go for it! Nout to lose

How great was that?!  leading against the world's best team.  And Broja a hairsbreadth from doubling.  Salisu and Forster already heroic in defense. Whatever happens from here, this was an awesome 45...

That first half must have taken its toll, we've done great!  can we end our good first half abysmal second half style, City will definitely  throw everything  at us!

Thing is there wasn't a huge amount of running done by saints there. It was all about our positioning. Ward prowse and Romeu hardly noticed but vitally important keeping that space outside the box occupied.

I know the only way we had of winning this was scoring early and hanging on, but it's bloody agony to watch.

Salisu having a storming game. Forster excelling at, well, being a big fucker.

Not convinced we can hold out, and I'm sure there'll be a game changing penalty and/or red card (Bednarek the hot favourite) in the pipeline, but we've been really decent so far.

Redmond still looks underpowered to me after covid. Doesn't look like he can break into a sprint.

Fingers crossed for the second half, I guess. Not sure what else we can do.

Yeah, but "too slow"...  (c)@DT

I think he’s great. Just that he was slow when Foden passed him like he was stood still. As he also did against wolves. But hey. Thanks for trying to provoke. Like you always do. Tit.

Not sure about this. Need that quick transition from defence to attack when we get a chance

I agree, I wouldn't make any subs. Redmond just needs to make quicker decisions when he receives the ball and look down the line more rather than constantly cutting inside.

We’ve been fantastic value for our 25% possession. We all know where it’s going in the 2nd half, but we’ve won the 1st half.😘 I do think Che Adams needs to step up a bit more - not putting in enough of a defensive shift for me. But guess what - it’ll be Broja that gets pulled off. Need another goal within 15 minutes or we’ll lose.😉

Agreed. Redmond just seems too ‘loose’. ‘Zonal’ is no good if it just means losing your man too much and losing possession when you have it. Perhaps he’s nervous about Pep’s loving gaze.

Adams has held the ball up superbly when we've got it forward to him, he's absolutely necessary in this game to give us that strong outlet that gives the defence time to reorganise and have a breather.

Redmond did some good covering for Perraud and ran in swiftly to put off a City shot. So plenty of pluses in there for sure.  Did he get an assist too?

Absolutely, he just seemed to get nervous in the final 20 minutes and tried to play too conservative, ignoring an easy forward pass in favour of a riskier backwards pass.
