Langley saint Posted 5 February, 2022 Posted 5 February, 2022 After a two week break I was expecting a stronger team than that??? 2
SNSUN Posted 5 February, 2022 Posted 5 February, 2022 Wow that's not as strong as I assumed it would be but, as we say, it should be enough to see us through. Livramento back and in a more attacking role will be an interesting experiment at least! Walcott and Long. If we diss them do they both get hat-tricks today? 🤘 Good luck to Small. Well I got 5 of the 11 right. 🙄
nta786 Posted 5 February, 2022 Posted 5 February, 2022 My word what an interesting team, I hope we haven’t just thrown the FA Cup away with that line up. These lot will be up for it, and equally I’d say it will be very difficult to come back for some if they can’t beat a Championship team. However, I’ll reserve any criticism until the end, only because the post will be digged up later otherwise. Let’s hope this team has built up some chemistry over the fortnight.
LiberalCommunist Posted 5 February, 2022 Posted 5 February, 2022 Better win this today. Prem teams dropping like flies thus far!
Hodgey Posted 5 February, 2022 Posted 5 February, 2022 On paper that looks like 2 average championship sides playing. It’s an unnecessary risk - let’s hope he doesn’t have to make early subs with his strong bench. More so I’m not keen on giving players 3 weeks off - they’ll lose match fitness. 1
Sarisbury Saint Posted 5 February, 2022 Posted 5 February, 2022 Thought we would have gone full strength for this. 1
Saints foreva Posted 5 February, 2022 Posted 5 February, 2022 Our only chance of silverware, it should be our strongest lineup ffs.
obelisk Posted 5 February, 2022 Posted 5 February, 2022 Very much a second string experiment then. 🤨 Hope it comes off.
Pamplemousse Posted 5 February, 2022 Posted 5 February, 2022 We'll win. 3 games in 7 days, need to rotate for sure. 1
Saint_Tony Posted 5 February, 2022 Posted 5 February, 2022 very disappointed in the line up, thought Ralph might see this as a better opportunity than that of picking up points in the next 2 league games. Saints 0-1 Coventry (Gyokeres 61). 2
TWar Posted 5 February, 2022 Posted 5 February, 2022 Should be enough to beat them but if it isn't we have some talent on the bench. With three games in seven days we need to rotate.

Teddeer Posted 5 February, 2022 Posted 5 February, 2022 2 week break, needed to put out a stronger line up than that to get players back up to speed for midweek match. This could backfire but I hope not as I think we have a reasonable chance in the FA Cup with our strongest team. Would have preferred a strong staring eleven, get the game won then make subs but let's see. 1
Dragon_man Posted 5 February, 2022 Posted 5 February, 2022 Looks like Ralph is more worried about getting dragged into a relegation battle. Spurs, Man Utd and Everton will be real tough. That said, I'd have balanced the team across all 4 games rather than throw this game under the bus. IMO should have prioritised this game.
DT Posted 5 February, 2022 Posted 5 February, 2022 That’s a selection that underestimates our opponents. Hope we don’t regret it.
Teddeer Posted 5 February, 2022 Posted 5 February, 2022 I'd say 7 of our normal starters have been left on the bench which is a substantial gamble. We should still win but it increases Coventry's chances and will give them a big boost. 1

Yep, I’m very surprised to see that many changes. I would say we are only playing 2 of our best 11, JWP and Livramento. That seems unnecessary to me after 2 weeks off, even with a couple of tough away Prem games coming up. How will we line up? Livramento may play further forward? If so, will be interesting to see how that goes.

charliemiller Posted 5 February, 2022 Posted 5 February, 2022 hesgoal doesnt have a listed stream which is unusual

obelisk Posted 5 February, 2022 Posted 5 February, 2022 Saints defence not exactly looking very solid so far.

Edmonton Saint Posted 5 February, 2022 Posted 5 February, 2022 Walcott is just a terrible footballer these days. He can’t pass, shoot , what can he do?

obelisk Posted 5 February, 2022 Posted 5 February, 2022 Small with strong header ... at his own goal. Saved!
Sheaf Saint Posted 5 February, 2022 Posted 5 February, 2022 What on Earth was Small thinking with that header? I'll chalk that one up to nerves due to this being his first senior start.
SaintBobby Posted 5 February, 2022 Posted 5 February, 2022 This is an unnerving start. Hope the major rotation in starting XI doesn't stuff us. Surely, we are free to focus on the cup given the current league situation?

coalman Posted 5 February, 2022 Posted 5 February, 2022 So often we have full backs on the overlap then we stop and go backwards. We look great when we trust ourselves to stretch play but pedestrian when we don't.

AlexLaw76 Posted 5 February, 2022 Posted 5 February, 2022 How crap Armstrong crap Walcott crap Small crap 1
obelisk Posted 5 February, 2022 Posted 5 February, 2022 This looks like a gamble too far. Saints defence just opened up so easily again. 0-1.
Dorchester Saint Posted 5 February, 2022 Posted 5 February, 2022 Just now, Saint Pete said: You clearly have far more faith in our reserve players than I do. Have you seen the bench? We will win this game, despite trailing at present.
