That first yellow for Salusu was a shocking decision. Awful reffing.

And the challenge for the second was equally shocking given he had been booked. He was walking a tightrope with every challenge he made - I think the first yellow was for accumulation rather than the specific incident.

Those pre match comments on here  when the line ups came out are looking extremely silly now.

Valery and Long played really well especially considering their lack of game time. Valery was out of position against Kane and Son and they barely had a sniff.

Magnificent rearguard action. Wonderful point gained. All the players gave everything to earn that point. Forster gives the players confidence by being on the front foot. Deserved his bit of luck. A shout out to Valery played his heart out. JWP great goal. Does Salisu get one or two matches as the first booking was number five.

I thought he’d already had his suspension for five bookings.

Confess I gave us no chance when I saw the line-up...six changes, Long, Valery...no Romeu...thought RH was rotating the squad to give us a better chance against Newcastle. Thought that was a massive performance from the whole team. Salisu will hopefully learn from that...he was almost certainly told to 'get up their backsides'...and it worked a treat for 40 minutes...he needed to take something off after the first yellow. Earned ur luck as Wrighty just said.

I'll hold my hands up to that,  feared the worst, although Valery played very well at Chelsea in the cup couple of months the ago

Spurs didn’t deserve anything with a kit like that

bunch of yobbos

Their fans were shit as well. Only really heard them after the penalty and then for the disallowed goal which was hilarious because they wasted a flare.

Wtf are you going on about now? Bizarre comment.

Try this.  Watch the goal, then reread Otttawa's post, then plead with the mods to delete this and pray no-one quotes you

Also, hands up everyone who likes having a left footer at left back !!!

I'd still prefer KWP at LB than Perraud...but on today's performance, I'd prefer KWP to Livra at RB!! Something has to give.

Forster should have caught it. However, you cannot barge a gk in the air in the goal area. Foul!

I would be very annoyed if a similar challenge on Lloris had been ruled out.

However despite the decision and the offside against Kane went in our favour we deserved the result.

Forster would have been murdered on here if the goal had stood but he played well otherwise.

Big up to all the players and also the crowd.

Saints supporters bossed that side of the game.

That said, we do need more of a range of songs.

Valery interview: Message at half time was to fight, concentrate and to use their bodies. All that important as some players were tired after West Ham and some hadn't had much game time. Loves playing in the premier league.

Come to think of it you're right. Only the Newcastle match if it gets played.

He did and he seems a good option in that formation although hard to know if he would have played today if Stephens or Lyanco were available.

Clearly works though as when we had 11 they barely threatened.

Was interesting to see how far out of the backline our CB's were going in the first half. Salisu was pressing Alli quite a way up the pitch and Bednarek was following Kane when he dropped off too.

As ever formations are never as simple as they seem written down.

Fine battling draw of the kind we wish Saints would do more often in the face of some questionable refereeing. Shout outs to the keeper & defence, Diallo shielding and Long put in a hard working shift up front. Cracking strike from the skipper too, who looks to be returning to form now.

I like JV. He came in young and did well, bagging that cracker vs Utd. Then he had a bit of a confidence crisis culminating with that shocker vs Leicester.

I think that really crippled him but he's got his head down and kept working hard in training. Played well today. Pleased for him. You hate to see a young lad's career disappear like that. Hopefully he'll gain a lot of confidence from here and be a useful squad member.

Forster would have deserved to get murdered on here. What a woeful bit of keeping. He is absolutely shite when coming for crosses.

Ralph: Super aggressive, super intense in first half. Gave away too many fouls, perhaps. But couldn't have been more proud. Second half did look to keep shape and play out where they could, but this was harder as legs tired. Looking for recovery after the two games in quick succession.

Thought Broja ought to have been brought on a little earlier. He looked sharp and obviously everyone knows he is our best option. Also thought Romeu should have been on for the last ten minutes. I guess Ralph knows better than I how fit our subs are, but JWP needed to come off and fresh legs brought on. It's a mute point now I suppose.

Doherty was travelling and his forward momentum caused Forster to drop the ball. You can rarely touch a keeper, let alone if you are in motion. Think back to the Villa game last year, when Martinelli hit Romeu and the goal was ruled out.

Mom for me Jan Vallery,  out of position,  especially  2nd half. Looks like he might be back.

I teally hope so too. He was someone I was really hoping would break through to be a regular. We've 2 good RBs in front of him, but perhaps his versatility can open up other options.

Well impressed they hung on just about! Could prove a very valuable  point

we hung on well, but it could easily have gone another way as it has so many other times. The header KWP won against Kane was very unexpected. I thought that was THE chance they were looking for. Fantastic header to win. Made me think of all those Cedric back post nightmare goals we used to concede.

All credit to Ralph for rehabilitating him, but there’s still work to do. Given the standard of the other two keepers,  I wish we’d made the same effort with Angus Gunn. There’s long term trauma attached to experiences like that Leicester game, and I think it speaks well of Ralph and the club that they didn’t just throw both of them on the scrap heap.

why?

I feel that McCarthy wouldn’t have made the saves Forster did. And neither would he have instilled the confidence into his defence just by his presence. But we’ll never agree on this so best to just agree to disagree

Thought Perraud did really well.

in what way? I saw a `championship at best' type player out there today. He battled hard, as did them all, but he's not particularly great at any facet of the game. Am I being too harsh?

Think there was a few extra percentage points of effort from him today against his old club. Was excellent.

Re Angus Gunn.
He has now let in 8 since returning to the Norwich team.
Feel for him.

Perry Groves: I did a little fist pump when JWP scored. Because I was a Southampton player. Well, I put on a Southampton shirt. Even if I was a complete waste of money. 😀

Good lad, he mocks himself with this on Talksport. But I guess he really fist pumped because it was against Spurs.

Yep, sad isn’t it?

I remember the superb performance he put in for us at Chelsea, but - like they say - it can be a cruel game.

I hated the starting line up. But we were excellent until the red card and defended very well in the 2nd half. Got a bit of fortune, but deserved the point. Had Salisu not given away the penalty and got sent off, we may well have won.

Spurs are a pretty disappointing outfit.

He just ranted at his defence for all 5 they conceded to Arsenal. The defence didn't seem too bothered with him either. Not a good place to be.
