Not a squeak from the club, you'd think they would have let something slip by now surely - after all, local journalists have known about it for weeks now....

I for one am counting the minutes til Monday when Howe comes riding in to save us from this horror show.

I will put my head on the line here and say that Howe is replacing Ralph at the end of October.

Even if we win the next 3 games it won’t make a difference as the camp is not healthy at the moment and whoever the guys are that make those decisions are now taking action.

Why it’s not being done now I don’t know but the source who has radio links with the club said something is being planned.

This is going to be remembered as a special, special post

They don’t have radio links

Funny hearing entitled Spurs fans thinking Potter would go to them...

I don't think it is a stretch to see why Potter would want to goto Spurs if approached. A better squad, bigger wage and transfer budget and a bigger wage for himself.

I think Scott Parker may well be a really good manager in a couple of years time and I would prefer him to Howe

Bournemouth are playing good football at the moment and are well out in front in the Championship

Maybe Spurs in for Parker ?

They look good in the championship but that's all,  just like Norwich and Fulham

He probably needs to do 'an Eddie' in getting them up and keeping them there for a couple of seasons before he's in contention for a 'big club' (as spurs would regard themselves).

Wonder if EH regrets not moving a season or so sooner whilst his stock was high. With a relegation and absence on his cv it might be some time before he's mentioned re 'big clubs' as the once 'up and coming manager'. If we don't offer him the lifeline, and can't see it after our last three games - if it was even on the cards before - then I can only see him in the EPL as a stand in until end of season somewhere.

I was not discussing Bournemouth I was suggesting that Scott Parker maybe a decent manager in the making I think he could do well with better players

Didn’t they try before and he knocked them back straight away. Nuno was about 10th choice when they hired him, unless they’ve got someone lined up theyd be nuts to sack him so early.

Ralph won't be on any big club's list unless we're top half I imagine. Certainly not Premier League anyway, could see him getting more respect in the Bundesliga.

While he can be infuriating with sitting back and not making changes in second halves, and some selections are just plain weird...he hasn't had resources here. Signings have largely done well and the rest of the league has spent much bigger amounts. So I'm not sure what we can expect.

If he can keep us away from the relegation fight, get us maybe 12th? I'd say that's the max right now without investment. I'd want him to stay and improve what is a young team, but I wonder what's in it for him next summer? We're unlikely to spend much. I doubt keeping us up and towards mid table is a challenge he'll want forever.

I just hope the board have a sensible plan for after him. Someone with a style that will suit the club and players. Not just someone like Howe because they're available.

The money perhaps?

I can't remember where I read this but I think he was the 8th or 9th highest paid manager in the league. Ultimately his best bet to getting one of the big 6 jobs or a top Bundesliga team is by doing well with us.

I think Parker is already a better manager than Howe, as he appears to be proving at Bournemouth.

Potter is head and shoulders above both.

Could see Spurs sacking Nuno; Potter replacing him; Howe going to Brighton. Brighton to then implode in 2nd half of the season.

I think Potter is too level headed and will stay or hold out for the England job. We missed our chance with him. Would have been good fit.

Yes they did. I think they'll go back for him. But you're right, you'd think they would have someone lined up before they sack him. Of course, the ones who should really be sacked are those who installed Santos in the first place...naming no names...

I wish I knew how to search on here because it wasn't that long ago, I think during the summer, when quite a few on here we're saying he was average or poor and they wouldn't even want him at Saints.

Fast forward a few months and now we have this.

Yes exactly. I got shouted down for suggesting him. There was much derision at Brighton at the time. I said they’d be top 10. Look on course for that.

How’s he “proving” it?

I said 'appears to be proving'. As in, it is my opinion - not a statement of fact. The reason for my having such an opine is based on Bournemouth's results this season in comparison to those under Howe during the previous one. Granted, Howe also had a good start to the season last time out and Bournemouth may well fade away again as the season progresses. But Howe didn't have as a good a start as Parker is having and also had more of Bournemouth's premier league players at his disposal, including Danjuma who basically carried them to most of their results.

So you sack Ralph, who would want to come in to a team who are likely to be relegated this season? I was banking on Norwich, Watford and Newcastle/Brentford finishing below us this season. Whoever the manager is just look at the squad and you cant ignore that 17th is a successful season. Theres a couple of good players in there but the rest is bang average and we've lost our 15-20 goal a season striker. Now that Newcastle have loads to spend and assuming they have a good January we really are in trouble. The squad are still playing for Ralph despite such a bad run over the past year and our results are about right for the squad, like it or not everyone in the league sees us as 3 points.

I mean overall this thread is hilarious, but posts like this are baffling.

Do people like you even actually pay attention to reality?

We are 14th, we are just one win from the top half, and we have probably had a tougher start to the season than anyone in the bottom half.

Newcastle have 4 points, can I just re-iterate that? They have 11 games realistically before they could put any new signings into the team, (and that is if they get them in really early) and have to play Man City, Man Utd, Liverpool, Leicester, and Arsenal in those games. Plus signings in Jan are generally pretty tough, and who of great value is going to join a team very likely to be still in the relegation zone?

Our 15-20 goal a season striker, has 3 goals for Villa, one of which was a pen. (oh and he only got 12 goals last year btw) and is seemingly now injured, with people questioning his purchase for Villa because they are shoehorning him into their tactic.

Aside one very poor half against Everton, performances have been generally decent to good IMO, yes chances haven't been finished, but defensively we have been solid, attacking play has been decent and with a little more luck we'd have another couple of wins IMO. That includes games against Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea, and a clearly very good West Ham team.

I just do not understand how people can be so negative.

He won the league last time he managed it.

Yeh, brain fart. Just remembered Tindall was manager last season. Forgot Howe had been out of work for so long.

In any event, I still think Parker is better. Just because got Bournemouth promoted as champions (due to their winning their last game of that season, whilst Watford lost theirs) in 2015 really doesn't prove much now.

How is Brian McDermott's managerial career going?

In any event, I rescind my statement of 'appears to be proving'.

I didn’t realise beating Brentford, Leicester, Watford and Burnley got you the England job. I wouldn’t swap Ralph for Potter or Howe.

Agree, need a far more impressive CV than that:

-miss crucial penalty as a player

-average to poor playing a part in Middlesbrough's relegation c 10 years ago

-good experience at pizza commercials

-could double up as model for M&S 3-piece suits if required.
