revolution saint Posted 17 September, 2021 Posted 17 September, 2021 Impression I got from the preview conference thing was that there probably would be changes to the side.
Saint_Jonny Posted 17 September, 2021 Posted 17 September, 2021 What do we think about Pep's sly dig at the City fanbase for not selling out the stadium for their CL opener against Leipzig earlier in the week? Hasn't gone down well with the City fans, and he's just said in his presser that he's not going to apologise for what he said (basically asking for people to show up on Saturday because they will be tired...)

suewhistle Posted 17 September, 2021 Posted 17 September, 2021 From what I've read there are plenty of cheap tickets available: £5 tickets on sale in the student's union type thing. But it's a big ground and people only have so much time and money. Plus there's plenty of wary older supporters there as well.
Sheaf Saint Posted 17 September, 2021 Posted 17 September, 2021 Just FYI everyone - this weekend is students moving in weekend, so if anybody is thinking of trying to get into Manchester by car I would strongly advise against it.

I can smell their chips on shoulders all the way over here. Imagine if we were in a title fight and our manager asked us to come down and make some noise, I doubt we'd get so upset amid the vertigo. They've obviously changed since the days of filling Maine Road in League One.
Pamplemousse Posted 17 September, 2021 Posted 17 September, 2021 Play like we did against Man Utd and no reason why we can't get something from this game at all. 1

It's poor in my opinion, I remember Man City in the 3rd division, we played them over two legs in the 2nd round of the Carling Cup, they still were getting 25k - 30k regularly at that level. Most of them weren't bothered about expanding the ground and trying to compete with United for tourists. That said the lengths they are going to to fill the ground seem a bit extreme now 1

DT Posted 18 September, 2021 Posted 18 September, 2021 Realise it's unlikely, but you can get 19-1 for a Saints win on Betfair. Couldn't ignore those odds.

You’d probably be richer if you did ignore. although City do have the odd shit game in them. Let’s hope it is today 2
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 18 September, 2021 Posted 18 September, 2021 I’m hoping Broja starts. As well as his great run last week, he was also the only player to get on the end of a JWP corner. I actually think our corners have been pretty poor so far this season and a set piece is probably going to be our biggest chance to score today. 1

davefizzy14 Posted 18 September, 2021 Posted 18 September, 2021 Hoping we can get something from today. It will be a tough game for sure but no reason why we can't go there and grab a result. Hoping Broja comes in today alongside Armstrong. And Tino in front of KWP. 1-1 Adam Armstrong to score COYR
Billy the Kidd Posted 18 September, 2021 Posted 18 September, 2021 Yep I have a feeling AA will get one today. 1
suewhistle Posted 18 September, 2021 Posted 18 September, 2021 Let's hope so. Remember Che Adams broke his duck against MC..
Saints foreva Posted 18 September, 2021 Posted 18 September, 2021 Bednarek in for Salisu KWP in for Perraud
OttawaSaint Posted 18 September, 2021 Posted 18 September, 2021 (edited) Redmond and Moi, no Salisu. Fuck off Ralph! Edited 18 September, 2021 by OttawaSaint 1

Saint Matty 76 Posted 18 September, 2021 Posted 18 September, 2021 Ah lovely, the two slowest CBs on planet earth against City's quick attack. Perfect game to rest Salisu.
Gingeletiss Posted 18 September, 2021 Posted 18 September, 2021 Now convinced, he does not know what he is doing. 1
Saint-Reece Posted 18 September, 2021 Posted 18 September, 2021 Dropping Salisu for Bednarek and Redmond keeping his place is nuts!
OttawaSaint Posted 18 September, 2021 Posted 18 September, 2021 How could have have watched Moi and Redmond last week and thought, “yep, we’ll played, they’re going to keep their place”. Why drop our best CB? Is he injured? 1
obelisk Posted 18 September, 2021 Posted 18 September, 2021 Another "brave" team selection from Ralph. 😐
Sunglasses Ron Posted 18 September, 2021 Posted 18 September, 2021 Well all know how devastating Redmond, sorry Henry, is against City...
Edmonton Saint Posted 18 September, 2021 Posted 18 September, 2021 So we’ve dropped Salisu who has been arguably our best player , not played Broja who looked quality, stuck with Redmond who was utter gash, and we’re playing a right back at left back again. Ralph you’re not helping yourself man. 1

beatlesaint Posted 18 September, 2021 Posted 18 September, 2021 Great idea dropping you best looking centre back last week when you toddle off to the hardest match of the season. Still I’m sure the non effective Moi and Redmond from last week will be equally non effective. I do wonder what the fuck Ralph thinks he’s doing sometimes….
OttawaSaint Posted 18 September, 2021 Posted 18 September, 2021 (edited) Perraud and Salisu were great in the last game. Redmond and Moi awful. Broja came on and was excellent. So he drops 2 of the best players, picks the 2 worst and ignores Broja for Adams. WTF is his thinking here? That stupid fucking waistcoat too. Clueless. Edited 18 September, 2021 by OttawaSaint 3

Yep, that was my thought. Salisu is far better with one-on-one situations like Antonio last week but maybe not so much with City's movement. On the other hand he does have pace, so I'm a bit surprised. Redmond's presence too. If we can draw their sting early on (famous last words..) we do at least have some pace on the bench.
charliemiller Posted 18 September, 2021 Posted 18 September, 2021 Sorry Ralph you clearly want the sack , who changes the back four after a clean sheet. And I nearly cried to Redmond and moi in, what must tella and borje be thinking.
Teddeer Posted 18 September, 2021 Posted 18 September, 2021 Another strange line up from Ralph leaving many of us scratching our heads. Drop our best centre back. Give Redmond and Moi another crack after shockers last week and not pick Broja who was sensational in his cameo. Hope it comes off for you Ralph but if it goes badly wrong expect heavy incoming.
The Cat Posted 18 September, 2021 Posted 18 September, 2021 Definitely dragging some of these posts back up later if we nick a point. 2
StrangelyBrown Posted 18 September, 2021 Posted 18 September, 2021 I'm hoping Ralph knows something I don't (to be fair I'm sure he does), but that is a set of strange changes to the line up. Salisu dropped??? Redmond??? Elynoussi????
qwertyell Posted 18 September, 2021 Posted 18 September, 2021 Oh, we've dropped out best player so far this season. Of course we have. This fucking manager, man. Good luck to Bednarek, I guess. He's on a hiding to nothing today.
FarehamSaintJames Posted 18 September, 2021 Posted 18 September, 2021 Good idea, start Bednarek, ship nine goals, then tell him afterwards that’s why he’s not good enough to start more games (on the back of reports he wasn’t happy with lack of play time so far this season). Smart from Ralph. Jokes aside, what the hell? And Redmond too?
Noodles34 Posted 18 September, 2021 Posted 18 September, 2021 I want to listen to the game whilst mowing the lawn. Too noisy for a radio, is there an app for radio commentary from Solent?
