Toadhall Saint Posted 18 September, 2021 Posted 18 September, 2021 Is it me but does that selection seem a bit like trying to keep players happy? 1
AlexLaw76 Posted 18 September, 2021 Posted 18 September, 2021 Ralph is clearly a poor manager for us. I feel for him with the finacial situation, but this in now his team and his selections. 2
Chapel End Posted 18 September, 2021 Posted 18 September, 2021 Advice to anyone who wants to wait and see what the outcome is before complaining/passing judgement should avoid this thread 2
kjurwi Posted 18 September, 2021 Posted 18 September, 2021 Don't mind Bednarek. Would like to se him playing with Salisu though. Better at defending than Stephens Fine with Redmond and Ely. I would have played Djenepo for Redmond. Like Armstrong -Adams up top. Swap with Broja-Tella in the second half. Think we'll lose but only with 3-1
Hodgey Posted 18 September, 2021 Posted 18 September, 2021 My first thought seeing that team was keeping Bednerak and KWP happy in a game he knows we can’t win. Fully expect them both to be dropped after we get our arses handed to us today - harsh if so 1 1
OttawaSaint Posted 18 September, 2021 Posted 18 September, 2021 Might as well get the 9-0 out of the way nice and early this season then... 1

He did sort of prepare us for these type of random changes with his comments about players not being able to expect to play the next game just because they performed well in the last game. I guess he was talking about Salisu and Peraud and, to a certain extent, Broja. Weird.
Pamplemousse Posted 18 September, 2021 Posted 18 September, 2021 Very strange team selection. But let's see. 1

Weak minded, he doesn’t need to do stuff like this to tell a player he’s dropped. 1
saintscottofthenortham Posted 18 September, 2021 Posted 18 September, 2021 Be happy to be proven wrong but (again) Ralph has blown my mind with his team selection. Genuinely alarming how he appears so out of touch with the fanbase opinion of the best XI.
Millbrook Saint Posted 18 September, 2021 Posted 18 September, 2021 Happy with the results this season so far, so happy to give Ralph the benefit of the doubt, lets see what the score is at the end of the game
OttawaSaint Posted 18 September, 2021 Posted 18 September, 2021 This really stinks. The players must be like “wtf? what do I do to be a starter here?”. I’d be furious if NR and ME were picked ahead of me. Ralph been heading the ball too much in training?
Jeremy Corbyn Posted 18 September, 2021 Posted 18 September, 2021 If it is a "keeping the squad happy" thing, cant imagine Bednarek being thrilled that his chance is being dropped in at the deep end against City.

Someone needs to burgle Nathan Redmond’s house and destroy those photographs. 4
OttawaSaint Posted 18 September, 2021 Posted 18 September, 2021 Just seen the City lineup. We’re going to get killed. 1
Millbrook Saint Posted 18 September, 2021 Posted 18 September, 2021 I personally think Ralph is thinking about how to stop the opposition, so is using more experienced players, personally I prefer a settled team of your best players, but there's quite a few youngsters in the squad

OttawaSaint Posted 18 September, 2021 Posted 18 September, 2021 Ralph on DAZN saying how tough it is to play City. Well you just made it tougher, chump! 2
sydney_saint Posted 18 September, 2021 Posted 18 September, 2021 God damn, how do you pick apart this mess. Best CB this season -dropped. Djenepo has been decent defensively this season. So the best thing to do against one of the best attacking sides is to drop him right? Redmond dreadful as usual, so it is essential he keeps his place. Elyounoussi who we have shifted on loan last couple of seasons cos he's too slow is the perfect attacking player against one of the fastest backlines.

Does Salisu have a small injury? Are players being saved for the cup midweek? Are there tactical reasons why certain players are picked over others? Without knowing all the facts and reasons behind the selection everyone is just speculating. I get that's what a forum is for but comments like "Ralph is clearly a poor manager" just come from such an ill informed place that they aren't worth making in the first place. 4 1

Maya's Dad Posted 18 September, 2021 Posted 18 September, 2021 has salisu picked up a knock? sticks with redmond but not our best cb from last game...

Come off it. Redmond being picked again is lunacy, as is dropping our best, most consistent defender, especially after a clean sheet. Perhaps he wants out and thinks if it’s another thrashing it might happen? 2 1

badgerx16 Posted 18 September, 2021 Posted 18 September, 2021 He has picked Redders so that Pep can give him some more coaching. 1
OttawaSaint Posted 18 September, 2021 Posted 18 September, 2021 City fans haven’t listened to Pep. Sparse looking crowd. State of them though, cheap tickets and still can’t fill the place.

SNSUN Posted 18 September, 2021 Posted 18 September, 2021 Wtf team selection. You can only imagine Ralph sees this as a free hit and is saving key players for Wolves next week which is very winnable.

Suhari Posted 18 September, 2021 Posted 18 September, 2021 Presumably Bednarek is seen as better as a last-line defender than Salisu? Or maybe about protecting Salisu's confidence.
