Worrying that we have allowed all that to happen.  7 players have already left and one still in contract discussions.  Only destination club to be announced yet is Rafferty to Glasgow Rangers.  We shall do extremely well to be in contention for promotion next season with 7 or 8 new starters in a team of 11.  Who did the manager report to and why was nothing done until the announcement that she would step down?  And why so slow in getting a replacement?  Lots of questions and so far little in the way of answers.

Seems like our squads being dismantled by poachers from above. Shame. That momentum will probably dry up now and we'll struggle to reach the WSL anytime soon if ever.

A good few of the players that have left would have been more than happy to stay if the structure in the club was right. We’re being ‘dismantled’ because of a faith in people who don't deserve it.

...what faith are you referring to here? I haven't expressed faith in anyone. What issue with the structure?

Spacey-Cale the problem? Really? As Sue says, too much hinting and foreplay, not enough actual substantiation from some posters.

Difficult to provide proof without giving sources out, but it is true.  The proof is in the pudding, very disappointing season, Won 13, lost 9, no draws. Some of the performances were very poor, lack of a plan a or b, and an exodus of players by their choice,  1 players family member put out a damning tweet, which was subsequently taken down.

What did the tweet say then?

I don't think anyone here thought it was a poor season, though I do agree there were some poor performances.

Regardless, if everyone is leaving because of Spacey-Cale then they must have missed the news that she is no longer the manager!  We do need to get the new appointment in asap.

Dare I say it doesn't speak well of their ability to be professional that they have such an issue with her they have to leave the club altogether even though she isn't manager. Also doesn't help the stereotype of women holding grudges and not working well together.

If so many of them had grievances I wonder how many of those were actually spoken out loud to officials at the club. The way so many have left it came out of nowhere and almost seemed as if it was coordinated by the players.

Yes, with us grassroots types it's more important to play with people you get on with and hope the subs don't go up too much! If you're a not very well paid professional in the first place the extra money might be vital.

New contracts for Collett, Mott, Milne, Peake and Purfield

I'd happily have those 5 start as a back 5, so that seems to be a good sign.

I'd expect more gametime for Dean and Thompson as things stand too.

Interesting business at London City Lionesses, they seem to have substantial backing and have swooped for the ex-PSG manager

Imagine if it took this long to appoint a new man’s team manager, it’s poor it’s taken so long tbh

I imagine it's significantly harder to find suitably qualified women's managers than men's.

Alfie House stating ‘no need to panic is all I can say at this stage’ on Twitter tonight. Suggests something is lined up but not able to be announced yet.

Also found the cropping of today’s video and pictures of their training odd today. Like they are deliberately hiding coaches.

That's the thought that occurred to me..

According to the OS the keepers are Rendell, Haaland and Stenson. There was another one I saw at Havant & W last year: Beth someone? Unlike all those years ago women's football is getting specialist goalkeeper coaches and it's certainly made a difference over the last few years.

Is there any backstory to why Wilkinson left? I mean out of all the players I figured she would be at the top of the "want to keep list". Just saw she scored 4 goals for Rangers in their league opener Sunday

Something strange went on behind the scenes. We'll probably never know the full story.

So Scottish women's football is similar to the men's then? Edit: 11-0 against Aberdeen

Partly the behind the scenes issues that have been mentioned previously but her other half lives up that way so there was a personal aspect to the move as well.

Official website says Saints played Bristol City this afternoon
https://www.southamptonfc.com/en/matches/mens-team?teamId=5rWqTSv5IrxHLIaTP8kJgM
But there's a glitch on the match centre page and it's showing a line-up of players who have left, presume from an older game.
https://www.southamptonfc.com/en/match/bristol-city-women-v-southampton-f-c-women?tab=line-ups

But does anyone know if we did play today, and isn't it a bit odd to play a friendly against a side we're playing in the league on 9th Sep?

Was a decent game overall I thought, Bristol City started brighter and looked to have the edge in terms of quality.

Saints looked good once settled, missing a bit of quality upfront so following mens team in that regard.

Hard to know if we were missing any players etc, they announced it was the keepers debut so not sure if an understudy or going to be perm, looked assured no silly mistakes passing out from the back.

Nice touch at the end players come over and chat to fans, went down well with the kids.

Finished 1-1.

Not a big crowd 1622 I think, they must be disappointed with that.

Re the crowd I do think they'd be better served playing at a stadium that meets the fan base that'll show up.  I'm sure it's great in some respects playing in a large stadium and (probably) better surfaces, but having a full stadium watching you must be more exciting than having 95% of the seats empty

Are you suggesting they should play at Nottarf Krap?
