Saint_clark Posted 19 November, 2023 Posted 19 November, 2023 Unreal build up play down the left and into the box followed up by a pretty poor finish. The girls look good (football wise).
Saint_clark Posted 19 November, 2023 Posted 19 November, 2023 2-1 up now, another good move and header against admittedly poor keeping. I'll post on my own, i'll post on my ownnn... 1

Holmes_and_Watson Posted 19 November, 2023 Posted 19 November, 2023 2-1 to us but lots of Palace posession since our last goal. 1
Holmes_and_Watson Posted 19 November, 2023 Posted 19 November, 2023 And Palace were gifted a couple of chances after a miscommunication. Mott got over to cover their follow up chance.
Holmes_and_Watson Posted 19 November, 2023 Posted 19 November, 2023 Palace Equalise. That was coming. Palace had been able to get through our defence quite easily. That was worked across the box, then back for the finish.
Holmes_and_Watson Posted 19 November, 2023 Posted 19 November, 2023 Dennis is a danger for them. But we do rather hack it clear, giving up control.

Holmes_and_Watson Posted 19 November, 2023 Posted 19 November, 2023 2-2 at the break. We had chances, but look a little tired against Palace. They are a little sharper, get forward in numbers and we're struggling to get a spell of control. We're just about getting it clear. But it's more where it goes that determines if we're doing anything with it. It didn't lead to a goal, or even a chance but Palace's Hopcroft nearly made a lovely through ball for a great chance.

Saint_clark Posted 19 November, 2023 Posted 19 November, 2023 We look seriously poor defensively here. Not sure if it's just that Palace are very good.

Saint_clark Posted 19 November, 2023 Posted 19 November, 2023 4-3 up now, great goal, great game. Come on girls! 1
Holmes_and_Watson Posted 19 November, 2023 Posted 19 November, 2023 Some game. Good ball in for our fourth. Entertaining third, and we've made excellent subs.
Saint_clark Posted 19 November, 2023 Posted 19 November, 2023 It's really a shame some of the promotion team opted not to take full time contracts and left the club. Caitlin Morris would have made a big difference at CB. 1
Holmes_and_Watson Posted 19 November, 2023 Posted 19 November, 2023 We finished very strongly. Clever subs really helped, but we looked to have more in the tank towards the end, and that could have been more. The worked hard, had to come back from losing a lead twice away from home at a decent team towards the top.

She does feel like a tactically savvy manager, I know she's highly rated by those that have worked with her. 2

In the women's game generally you can only afford to drop points in 3 or 4 games if you're going for promotion. All the teams have dropped points in at least 4 games so far (Saints on equal least).
Bad Wolf Posted 19 November, 2023 Posted 19 November, 2023 Late goal Let in sloppy goals Defensively dreadful How come when the men do that it papers over the cracks but when the women do it the manager is linked with Chelsea?

Doctoroncall Posted 19 November, 2023 Posted 19 November, 2023 Charlton and Birmingham the form teams out of the top five looking for the only promotion spot. Half way through the fixtures and the last fixture away to Charlton could be important.
Master Bates Posted 19 November, 2023 Posted 19 November, 2023 (edited) Erin Bloomfield signs for Bournemouth. Bloomfield signed for Saints in October 2019 and had scored 12 goals in just ten games when the season was abandoned due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Bloomfield then spent three years studying in the United States, turning out for Troy University, in this spell Bloomfield stood out in a struggling team, earning 'Sun Belt's Offensive Player of the Week' in her second season. Following a return to English football Bloomfield, again signed for Southampton, netting 3 in 7 games. Edited 19 November, 2023 by Master Bates
sibster Posted 19 November, 2023 Posted 19 November, 2023 Cracking game and a lovely header to secure the 3pts. It's so right at the top right now, if it stays like that we are in for a thrilling end to the season! 1

Sorry mush, I was playing, on a soggy Southampton rec pitch with tufts of grass that a cattle farmer would look on with avarice, a fine sea fret and a cross wind that a tea clipper skipper would have exploited for a record passage.. Plus I pay subs for the privilege! LOL
Ted Bates Statue Posted 22 November, 2023 Posted 22 November, 2023 Continental Cup tomorrow (League Cup) at St Mary's tomorrow with more than 10k tickets sold apparently. £5 for adults, with no ticket tax, which swayed me to go along. Just be aware of the early kick-off for an evening match at 18:30.

Seems they've marketed it as a 'family friendly' time; even just half an hour later and I might have been able to get down.
Fabrice Fernandes no.1 fan Posted 23 November, 2023 Posted 23 November, 2023 Sold over 12,500 tickets, the final last year only had 19,000 so clearly a big deal! Sadly I do think a large number will be wanting to see some of the Lionesses, rather than necessarily the under 23 lionesses we have, but if it inspires a new generation of Saints fans then that is a great thing. 2
Master Bates Posted 23 November, 2023 Posted 23 November, 2023 It's hypnotising watching them from the front jogging off at half time. Decent first half. 0 0

jemanson Posted 23 November, 2023 Posted 23 November, 2023 Nice goal for Saints - a couple of good touches and a great finish from Molly Pike
Saint_clark Posted 23 November, 2023 Posted 23 November, 2023 Pike has been a great signing. Rendell is a quality keeper as well, easily WSL level.
Saint_clark Posted 23 November, 2023 Posted 23 November, 2023 Unfortunate deflection there, no real need to stick her leg out. Ah well.
Saint_clark Posted 23 November, 2023 Posted 23 November, 2023 Russell Martin watching to see if there's anyone worth transitioning into the men's side. 😎 2
Saint_clark Posted 23 November, 2023 Posted 23 November, 2023 Really harsh. Saints deserved penalties. 1
Jimmy_D Posted 23 November, 2023 Posted 23 November, 2023 Gutting, great performance against one of the best teams in the country. Does at least suggest we won’t be out of place in the top flight when/if we get promoted. 1

Winners get 2pts, 1 for the draw, 1 for the penalty win and the other team get 1pt for the draw. That's why we have 5pts from a win and a draw. Edited 23 November, 2023 by Master Bates 3
