The coaches most definitely haven’t. There is absolutely no structure or game plan. We are playing hoof ball.

Odd as we’ve been very good in the league this season.

Conditions weren't great but that was an awful performance by the U18's in what is quite a big game.  Was like it was the first time many of them played in the wet - occasion and conditions got to them.

It's a shame as FA Youth Cup games played at St Mary's a good run would have given the kids some experience and fans a chance to attend.

Being knocked out last year by Burton Albion and this by Sheffield Wednesday does not reflect well, clubs operating on much smaller budgets with vastly less resources available for academy development.

Having a great season. The changes Crocker made, including bringing in the in-game/individual skill coaching setup are obviously having an impact and Carl Martin probably took a lot from being involved with the first team.

But ultimately I think there are just better players in that group than we have had for a while.

Agreed.  Surprised to see Villa not doing great considering their mega-aggressive youth recruitment — although that might be more for their U23’s.

Dom Ballard

My son's friend is in the U16's so has played with him.

Apparently Ballard was decent last season but wasn't rated anywhere near as highly as Doyle.  He then came back after the summer and just absolutely started smashing it to the point where quickly got moved up the age groups.

Probably benefited from playing up at U18 a bit last season when we had a load of injuries but this season he's gone to the next level.

Ballard, Doyle and Dibling from that age group look like they could be very interesting players. Wouldn't be surprised to see them start making first team squads later in the season for experience.

Wherever he went for his summer hols can we send the whole team there?

Top again! Beat Villa 0-5

Ballard x3, Armitage & Pearce scored.

A promising start for 16 y.o. Will Armitage.    A goal on his U18 debut,  and looks to be very tall for his age.

Mutual mates with u18 lad Jem Hewlett who’s also featured in the 23’s this season, his dad is also my driving instructor😂.

Good young lad with a head on his shoulders. Not the tallest centre back but is a natural leader, another one to look out for!

He’s played a lot of games this season, too.

Always good to have a head on your shoulders. Nothing worse than going up for a necker.

Won again!  beat Fulham 2-3.

Feels like the whole club is in some kind of unusual positive symmetry right now. Good place to be.

Good to see, looks pretty tight at the top of the table between 3 or 4 teams, does anyone know if you get a trophy for winning Southern division or does it end with a play off against Northern league winners?

Massive game next week v West Ham, almost a title decider although we still need to play Chelsea twice as well

Just gone 3-2 down away at Arsenal with about 15 minutes to go.

Came back from being 2-0 down after 7 minutes to mate it 2-2 but just let one in.

Both Saints goals from Jimmy Morgan.

That's a bit of good news today then, still a tough run in for u18s (play Chelsea twice I think) , let's win the league and get some silverware for the cabinet

How can we watch it?

Don't think you can watch it anywhere - just following the score via Google

We have gone really strong for this game as well. Payne, Ballard, Doyle, Pearce, Edwards, Finnigan. All players who regularly turn out for U23's.

3-0 now, 20 minutes to go.

We really do have some exciting players coming through.

Nice one how are you following it? Any idea if we win the league if we then play off against Northern winners or is it just a trophy for each league?

Just looking on Flashscore.

Yes, winners go into a play off final against Northern winners which looks like Man City as they are 7 points clear in their league.

4 games to go, 2 of which are against Reading. If we carry on going strong they should be 2 favourable results.

Leicester and Chelsea again are the other games.

West Ham are 1 point behind having played a game more.

How they hell we lost 5-0 to Norwich earlier this season is a mystery. They only have 7 points all season and have let in 68 goals in 22 games. Very strange.
